Plomo ‘MICHAELLA’ bow back over-the-knee boots

bow back over the knee boots Plomo ‘MICHAELLA’ bow back over the knee bootsIn most cases, I’d advise against adding unnecessary embellishments to the calf area of a boot, because it can be an excellent way to add instant bulk to that area. (Are bulky calves on your wish list this year? Thought not.) In this case, however, I’m charmed enough by the general appearance of the boots to think it just might work: and of course, the fact that they look good doesn’t hurt either.

These boots are by Mexican brand Plomo, and come in beige, black and grey. I’d like them better if the backs weren’t quite as open – the effect is that the boot is being held together by the bow, but I can’t help thinking that could get a little chilly. Still, I guess it’s nothing a good pair of tights couldn’t fix.

If you want to try these out, they’re $369.96 – click here to order them from SoleStruck.

Black leather over-the-knee clog boots from Next

black leather over the knee clog boots Black leather over the knee clog boots from NextThese are the kind of boots I know I probably shouldn’t like – they have a bit of a “Santa’s Little Helper” vibe about them, and then there’s the whole “clog” thing – but as the nights draw in and the temperatures drop, I find myself wanting to abandon all hope and embrace any kind of shoe that will just keep me warm. And hey, you have to admit, these are a whole lot better than Uggs!

I would have to see these in real life to know whether they’d be worth £95 to me. I know some of the cheaper brands only put the warm “lining” on the top of the boot (New Look are guilty of this, although for the prices they charge it’s not surprising), so you get the LOOK of a super-cosy boot without all of the benefits of them. If these are, indeed, lined all the way to the toe, however, I think I could get over any lingering ‘Father Christmas’ associations and just enjoy the feeling of warm toes. I still prefer Topshop’s shearling over-the-knee boots, but these ones are a little bit cheaper: click here to buy them from Next.

Logo 69 cream over-the-knee boots from Viva la Diva

When you write a shoe blog, you get to see an awful lot of over-the-knee boots at this time of year (Actually, this has almost as much to do with the fact that I love over-the-knee boots as it has to do with the fact that I have a shoe blog). The vast majority of them, perhaps unsurprisingly, tend to be black, brown or grey, with the occasional brighter colour thrown in for good measure, and that’s why these cream/neutral coloured boots by Logo 69 come as such a welcome surprise. They’re the perfect “go-with-everything” colour (they’d go particularly well with my winter jacket, as a matter of fact. Hmm.) and they’re also a great shape: the heel is just the right height for comfortable walking, and the toe is neither too round nor too pointy, so they’re unlikely to date quickly, either. Oh, and the top also turns down, allowing you to wear them as knee boots, if you prefer.

That’s several good reasons for me to want to buy these. Unfortunately, there are 179 reasons NOT to, as at £179 they’re out of my budget. If they fit comfortably into yours, however, you can click here to buy them from Viva la Diva.

‘Bea’ shearling buckle over-the-knee boots from Topshop

It’s a measure of how cold it is here today (and how utterly miserable last winter was in general) that these shearling over-the-knee boots from Topshop are actually looking pretty good to me right about now. I mean, just think of how warm they’d be! It would be like wearing Uggs, only without having to, you know, actually wear Uggs. And that thick, rubbery sole would surely be practical, even although the high heel probably wouldn’t.

What does everyone else think of these? If you’re as tempted by them as I am, click here to buy them from Topshop for £135.

Bakers’ ‘Melanie’ lace-up over-the-knee boots: an alterative to Christian Louboutin’s Ronfifi Alta 100

bakers melanie thigh high boots Bakers Melanie lace up over the knee boots: an alterative to Christian Louboutins Ronfifi Alta 100 Remember Christian Louboutin’s Ronfifi Alta 100 boots?

(It’s OK, I’ll wait here while you go and have another look at them…)

As you can see from the image above, Bakers’ ‘Melanie’ is but a pale imitation of the wonder of the Ronfifi, but at $99, it’s possibly as close as some of us are going to get, and as you’ll see from the Bakers website, these seem to look much better on than they do in these product shots.

Black would be the obvious choice here, of course, but I must admit, it’s the purple pair that drew me in, and I think they could be a nice, unexpected choice to wear with a black dress. Want to try them out? You can click here to buy yourself a pair, but remember to come back and tell me what they’re like in person!

Zara opens online store today, Shoeperwoman rejoices

zara opens online store Zara opens online store today, Shoeperwoman rejoices

Today is a great day for me, and a terrible one for Shoeperman, it being the day that Zara finally starts selling its clothes and shoes online!

Zara is one of my favourite stores, and I rarely visit one of their stores without finding at least one pair of shoes I want to buy, but there isn’t a branch in my town, which means I only ever shop there occasionally. (In fact, I most often shop at Zara when I’m in Spain or the US, which is actually quite bizarre, now I come to think of it …) As of today, however, the brand’s new transactional website allows you to shop from the clothing, shoe and accessory ranges, with shipping available to the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Germany: sorry, rest-of-the-world, hopefully they’ll start shipping to you soon!

I’ve already had a good look through the site, and while the clothes have left me a little uninspired, I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be able to get through the winter without these:

Aldo ‘Motayen’ slouchy over-the-knee boots

aldo motayen over the knee boots1 Aldo Motayen slouchy over the knee boots

Last winter I resisted buying a pair of River Island boots that looked a little bit like this… and then I spent the rest of the year regretting it. Like these, they were slouchy, over-the-knee style, and in a beat-up shade of grey, and they’d have been perfect over leggings for a casual, wintry look. If they don’t show up on eBay sometime soon, I could well be persuaded by Aldo’s ‘Motayen’ over-the-knee boots, which have a similar look, but which are a little less pricey, given that they’re not real leather.

Also available in black, these are £80, and you can click here to buy them.

Valentino bow detail over-the-knee boots

over the knee bow boots Valentino bow detail over the knee bootsI know most of those of you in the Northern hemisphere probably aren’t thinking about boots at this time of year, but I’m always willing to think about boots, especially when the boots in question are as gorgeous as these ones (and also when it snows in May, as it did last week. Gah.).

These are by Valentino, and feature the brand’s characteristic bow embellishment. As a fan of both over-the-knee boots and bows in general, I obviously love these, and can only look at the $1,595 price tag and weep. If you, on the other hand, can look at it and think, “Pshaw! That’s nothing! I must buy these rightthisverysecond!” you can head over to Saks and buy yourself a pair. Lucky you!
