Shoeper Shoe Challenge: Pair #1 – Christian Louboutin Mad Mary studded pumps

christian louboutin mad mar Shoeper Shoe Challenge: Pair #1 Christian Louboutin Mad Mary studded pumps

What: Christian Louboutin ‘Mad Mary’ studded pumps
When: Saturday, January 30, 2010
Where: A friend’s birthday drinks in a local bar
With: Purple dress, ASOS.com, black tights

Did you think I’d forgotten all about my Shoeper Shoe Challenge?

I promise I didn’t: I did actually get through a few different pairs of shoes last week, but the week was so busy I didn’t have time to photograph them, which, of course, means they don’t count! D’oh!

Anyway! Here is the first installment of the challenge, and after all of the trouble I went to to get my Mad Mary pumps in the first place, I figured it was only right that they should be the first pair of shoes I “rescued” by wearing them! As luck would have it, an opportunity to do just that presented it in the form of a friend’s birthday drinks on Saturday night, so the Mad Marys were GO!

I wore them with a purple dress from ASOS.com, and suspected I’d be the most overdressed person in the room, as usual, but as it turned out, I needn’t have worried, because people were wearing everything from jeans to sequined mini dresses!

These shoes are lots of fun to wear, and, of all of my shoes, are the ones that seem to get most attention: they always get lots of comments, and I’ve bonded with many a fellow shoe-lover who’s come over and asked me about them, so I guess they’re a good conversation-starter too.

So, one pair down, seventy pairs to go!

How’s everyone else getting on with their challenge?

Shoeperwoman’s Shoes: Red wedges and Sailor dress

red wedges1 Shoeperwomans Shoes: Red wedges and Sailor dress

Well, as predicted (by me), I went back to Matalan and bought the red canvas wedges I wrote about a couple of weeks ago.  And which turned out to be £12, not the £8 I originally thought they were. Ah, well.

I actually bought these as a pair of cheap shoes I can wear on holiday and not care if they get ruined, but then I also took delivery of this little Criminal Damage Sailor dress, so I thought I may as well just nautical it up, because, no, I’m still not over that, apparently.

Anyway, the shoes are super-comfortable: I love wedges for holidays because they give me a bit of height but are almost as easy to walk in as flats. These ones come up really small, so I had to go down a size: I’m normally a UK 4, but had to buy the size 3, which fit perfectly. And given that they were only £12, and the dress only £10, I have an outfit for £22: bargain!

Shoeperwoman’s Shoes: A nautical (and windy) Sunday

I was going to wear my Office peep toes with this outfit, but I thought it might be a bit of a nautical overload (I’m obsessed with nautical at the moment. I can’t seem to help myself.) with the stripey blazer and sailboat necklace, so I changed my mind at the last minute and went for these tan leather slingbacks, which were a bargain buy from New Look over a year ago.

So tell me: what shoes are you wearing today, and what are you wearing with them?
