Faith Chevelli knot-front suede court shoes

faith chevelli court shoes Faith Chevelli knot front suede court shoesAlong with bows and hearts and jewels and, oh, all kinds of other things, I’m quite partial to a big ol’ knot on the front of a shoe. I know that sounds like a strange thing to be a fan of, but when you look at these knot-front suede court shoes from Faith, maybe you’ll see what I mean.

Orange is this season’s hot colour right now (no pun intended), but as much as I love the shoe on the left of this photo, I also really like the black version on the right, which would make an elegant pump for work, or for anything you want to look a little bit “smart” for. Lovely.

Studded platform court shoes from Dorothy Perkins

studded court shoes dorothy Studded platform court shoes from Dorothy PerkinsCall me crazy (Note: please don’t!) but it was actually the orange version of this shoe that pulled me in, and I’m still liking it now. And I say this as someone who doesn’t own a single item of orange clothing or footwear, and would have happily kept it that way forever more.

If you’re not so keen on the orange, though (and granted, it won’t be for everyone), these are also available in purple and black, and are a nice pair of plain pumps, with just that single line of studs along the sole to make them a bit more interesting. They’re £35 from Dorothy Perkins.

Shoe Shopping With Shoeperwoman: Orange bow front peep toes from Zara

zara peep toes Shoe Shopping With Shoeperwoman: Orange bow front peep toes from ZaraOrange wouldn’t normally be my first choice of shoe colour (although these actually looked much redder in real life than they do in the photos – in fact, they didn’t strike me as “orange” at all, so the camera may be lying a little here), but I had a total “Shopaholic” moment while I was trying these on.

If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll probably remember the scene where Becky Bloomwood spots a pair of Gucci boots on sale, manages to use ever ounce of strength she has to resist them, and puts them back down… only for another woman to grab them: at which point, of course, Becky realises that the boots are HERS, and that nothing will stop her buying them.

Well, pretty much the same thing happened with these. I saw them and loved them, but I was actually shopping for a pair of shorts for my holiday, and where on earth would I wear a pair of orange peep toes anyway, I told myself? They’d just sit there at the back of the wardrobe, never to see the light of day again. So I put back the single pair of size 4s they had – and another shopper instantly grabbed them and put them on, at which point I was forced to hover around the shoe section protectively, just praying for her to put them down so I could buy them.

I didn’t, though. And she did put them down, too. My powers of resistance are clearly better than I thought: first the Louboutins, then these.,. and I haven’t even told you about the two pairs of Dune shoes I could’ve bought for £50 in TK Maxx…

If you don’t want to resit, though, these were £39.99 from Zara – who, to my constant annoyance, don’t allow you to shop online, so you’ll have to look for them in-store.

Jimmy Choo Loop patent leather sandals in orange and black

jimmy choo loop sandals Jimmy Choo Loop patent leather sandals in orange and black

I’ve always thought of Jimmy Choo as a brand that’s more “classic” than it is “edgy”, but with these ‘Loop’ patent sandals they seem to have ventured a little further outside their usual remit, with a vaguely gladiatorial style stiletto sandal in bright orange and black.

So, what do we make of these, then? At first glance I wasn’t convinced, with the black ankle cuffs putting me off. The more I look at them, though, and appreciate the slender stiletto and delicate shape of the shoe, the more I think these could actually be rather stunning on. I think the proof would be in the wearing here, and I’d need to see them on an actual foot to know for sure what I think of them. If you know you love them now, though, they’re £450 from Net-a-Porter.

Oscar de la Renta appliqué patent sandals with flower

oscar de la renta flower sa Oscar de la Renta appliqué patent sandals with flowerI’ve been eyeing these Oscar de la Renta shoes for quite a while now on Net-a-Porter, and I’m not a bit surprised to see that they’ve sold out in quite a few sizes. The flower, of course,  just makes them super-summery, and the colour doesn’t hurt, either. If that flower is just a little too whimsical for your tastes, though, you’ll be pleased to know it comes off, leaving you with a simple pair of sandals – although not a pair I’d necessarily pay £485 for.

If you have a pair of bright coloured sandals, though, this look would be fairly easy to recreate, using any one of the corsages or flower brooches you can find in most accessory stores or departments at the moment.
