Prada’s champagne and patent slingback sandals with knot detail

prada sandals Pradas champagne and patent slingback sandals with knot detail

Sorry for the lack of posts today, folks: we’ve been having the first really hot day of summer here, and each year when that blessed day arrives, we can guarantee that our internet connection will die. And it did. Seriously, it’s like living in the dark ages, only with reaaaalllly slow dial-up.

Anyway, onto the shoes! Prada went off the rails a little for the past couple of seasons (as far as I’m concerned, anyway), so this shoe is all the more pleasing to me: the nude (they call it “champagne”) uppers are obviously going to appeal, but I also like the knot detail, and the fact that it’ll sit across the bridge of the foot, or a little lower, rather than on the toe, which is where this kind of thing usually ends up on shoes.

Being Prada, though, these aren’t cheap: they’re $620 and you can buy them here.

Kate Spade ‘Felice’ bow front flats

kate spade felice flats Kate Spade Felice bow front flatsAlthough I know Kate Spade shoes are hugely popular, I don’t tend to pay a huge amount of attention to the brand, which is perhaps a shame, because these ‘Felice’ pumps are one of the prettiest pairs of flats I’ve seen in…ooh, at least a week.

The pale pink (sorry, “blush”) and black combo is one of my favourites, and this particular shade of pink is close enough to nude to feed my current nude shoe addiction. The black bow, meanwhile, dresses these up nicely, and er, feeds my bow obsession. Wow, Kate Spade, do you actually KNOW me or something?

These are rather dressy for a pair of flats, but they’re also the kind of shoes you could easily wear with jeans, too, for a more casual look. They’re $199 at Zappos.

BUY: Kate Spade ‘Felice’ pumps, $199

Nude patent trim strap shoes from Next

nude bow shoes next Nude patent trim strap shoes from Next Next. I have to admit, it’s a store I rarely ever venture into, but more fool me, because I somehow managed to sign up for their Directory years ago, and every time a new edition drops through the door, I can be guaranteed to find at least one pair of shoes I wouldn’t cast into space.

This year I’ve been rather liking the look of these nude patent heels. Now, as anyone who knows me will tell you, nude shoes are my current obsession, and have been for… a while. As well as giving the illusion of longer lengths (assuming your skin is the same shade of “nude” as the shoe, obviously), they also go with absolutely every colour I can think of, meaning that one pair of nude shoes can provide the answer to a million different wardrobe dilemmas – assuming, of course, that you can find the right pair of nude shoes.

Are these the right ones? Well, they’re not perfect, but as I said, I wouldn’t kick them out of the shoe closet. The basic shape is that simple, works-with-everything court shoe, and the little button n’ bow combination on the toe helps dress them up. The patent uppers, meanwhile, make these fairly dressy, but they’re simple enough to be worn with jeans, too, if you want to. All of which makes them a pretty good deal for £28, I think.

BUY: Nude patent strap shoes, £28

Giuseppe Zanotti nude and black cutout patent sandals

After the horror of those gladiator sandals in the previous post, I needed something beautiful to look at, and so I turned to another favourite shoe designer, Giuseppe Zanotti.

I’ve loved these nude and black patent sandals since I first laid eyes on them, a few months ago. The colour combination and shape combine to make these very elegant, with just a touch of drama coming from those black patent uppers. They look lovely on, too – The Fashion Police spotted them on Drew Barrymore  a few weeks ago, and they looked stunning worn with a simple black dress.

    They’re $650 from Net-a-Porter.
