Court Shoes: New Look platform t-bar courts

When I was looking at the New Look website earlier today for my post about polka dot shoes, I couldn’t help but notice these:

“It’s OK,” I told myself, “I’m going to be able to resist. I mean, I don’t really need another pair of black shoes, and they look a little bit like my Kurt Geiger Ediva pumps, which I like better. My money is safe from you, New Look!”

Then I found this version:

Aaaand now I’m in trouble. Because even although I don’t need another pair of beige court shoes either (as evidenced by the second level of my shoe storage shelves), there’s just no getting away from the fact that I want them.

I love the t-bar and bow combination, and I also love the colour of these, which would be so versatile, and would work in summer or winter. They’re not real leather, but then again, they are only £27.99, and you wouldn’t really expect them to be for that price.

I’m doing my best to resist. I may or may not have added them to my Wish List, though…

For a £24.99 sandal, these New Look wedges have a lot going for them, no? The first thing to catch the eye, of course, is that floral tie, which carries the print through from the sole, to wind around the ankle in an extravagant bow. As I’ve said in the past, I’m particularly fond of shoes that use ribbons or scarves rather than laces – these ones immediately reminded me the Pierre Hardy for Gap wedges from last year, although when you view them side-by-side, they look nothing alike. They have that same, feminine feel to them, though, and I also really like the t-strap uppers on these ones, which will help them feel a little more secure on your feet.

Contrast bow peep toe court shoes from New Look

I thought these shoes would be particularly appropriate today, because they’re in a lovely, duck-egg blue colour, and it’s almost Easter. (Easter, egg, geddit?) They also come with a tan suede upper but, well, it would”ve been harder for me to make a bad Easter egg joke if I’d shown you the tan ones, and I also happen to like the version shown above a whole lot better. In fact, I like them rather a lot: the colour is one of my favourite, and while the fabric part of the upper would mean that these would be of limited use here at Shoeper Towers, where the ground is almost always muddy from the rain, they’d be pretty sweet on holiday, or on a rare dry day.

Nautical denim court shoes from New Look

In most cases, the words “denim” and “shoes” in the same product description are enough to send me running for the hills – and in non-denim shoes, too. OK, I’m exaggerating. Again. But I’m wracking my brain here, and I honestly can’t think of a denim shoe I’ve loved, or even liked.

Could this one from New Look be the shoe to change my mind? Well, at first glance I didn’t even realise the uppers were denim (I catch on slow…), so that’s one good sign. The red bow is another. I mean, red + bow = surefire winner, no? The “nautical” aspect delivered by the way the ribbon is threaded through the upper is another. These lost me with the heel height, unfortunately, because as you know, I’m an all-or-nothing kind of gal with that. But I do think they’re cute, and at £19.99 they’re also a bit of a bargain. So I’m going to let them live.

(I’m just joking. I have no say in the matter.)

I’m hoping I’ll be able to pack my winter boots away soon, but you never can tell around here, so it’s always good to have something on hand (or on foot) in case of cold weather! I love these leather shoe boots from New Look, which come in one of my favourite neautrals – tan – and are the perfect shape to wear with both trousers and skirts/dresses, making them a nice transitional shoe for this between-the-seasons time of year. I also think £29.99 is a pretty reasonable price for a real leather upper, too.

These are also available in black, and you can click here to buy a pair.

Polka dots, stripes, bows, wedges: New Look lead Shoeperwoman into temptation…

new look canvas wedges Polka dots, stripes, bows, wedges: New Look lead Shoeperwoman into temptation...

Last week I suddenly realised it had been a long time since I last bought a pair of shoes from New Look. I think New Look must have realised that too, though, because the three styles above could almost have been made with me in mind: canvas wedges have always been one of my summer go-to’s, and these ones come complete with stripes, bows, polka dots – everything you need, in other words, to get me reaching for my wallet.

I’d happily wear either of the two shoes on the right of this image, although my preference would be for the polka dots. As for the red shoes, well, I’m not quite as convinced by those, as the upper looks a little too “grannyish” for my tastes, although I can certainly appreciate the bold colour and high wedge.

These shoes all retail for £24.99 and come in a range of colours. Click here to take a look.

It’s not often you see a celebrity wear shoes that are actually accessible to the rest of us – or not on the red carpet, anyway – so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this adorable photo of UK presenter Mylene Klass and her little girl, with Mylene wearing a pair of bright red platforms from none other than New Look.

Regular readers will no doubt recognise these, as they’re the red Mary Jane version of the bow platforms New Look released in several colours last year. I have them in black and pink, and I know a fair few of my readers have these in various colours too, so the good news for those of you who love this style – or just red shoes in general – is that they’ve been reduced to … wait for it… just £12.00 in the New Look sale. And they have them in black and cream, too.

I really love the way Mylene has paired these with grey tights (grey and red is one of my favourite colour combinations, and looks great here) and a polka dot dress, with the red of the shoes picked up with her red nail polish and lips.
