T.U.K. nautical style court shoes

Going by the word “nautical” in the headline, you were probably expecting the traditional red or blue trimmed with white. These T.U.K. shoes are a little bit different, though, and instead, the nautical element comes from the rope print on the uppers, combined with the stripey background.

There is, of course, a hint of the red on the heel, and on the cute little heart that decorates it, which gives these shoes a bit of a whimsical look. If you look closely, you’ll also see that the rope print I mentioned forms a bow on the toe: a nice twist on a traditional look. So, in conclusion, we have a pair of shoes featuring not one, but THREE of my very favourite things: bows, stripes and hearts. How could I not show you them?

T.U.K is a brand I normally tend to associate with the thick-soled creepers they’re better known for, but these shoes will make me much more likely to check the brand out in future. If you want to check out these very shoes in person, however, they’re £55 and you can find them at Spartoo.

Nautical denim court shoes from New Look

In most cases, the words “denim” and “shoes” in the same product description are enough to send me running for the hills – and in non-denim shoes, too. OK, I’m exaggerating. Again. But I’m wracking my brain here, and I honestly can’t think of a denim shoe I’ve loved, or even liked.

Could this one from New Look be the shoe to change my mind? Well, at first glance I didn’t even realise the uppers were denim (I catch on slow…), so that’s one good sign. The red bow is another. I mean, red + bow = surefire winner, no? The “nautical” aspect delivered by the way the ribbon is threaded through the upper is another. These lost me with the heel height, unfortunately, because as you know, I’m an all-or-nothing kind of gal with that. But I do think they’re cute, and at £19.99 they’re also a bit of a bargain. So I’m going to let them live.

(I’m just joking. I have no say in the matter.)

These are also available in black: click here to buy them.

Leg Avenue peep toe sailor shoes

leg avenue sailor shoes Leg Avenue peep toe sailor shoesI know the nautical look tends to be a summer trend rather than a winter one (particularly when it’s attached to a peep toe), but I’ve had my eye on these shoes for ages, so when I spotted them on the Spoiled Brat website, I just had to show them to you!

These are by Leg Avenue, and have a rather kitsch feel about them with that little red anchor on the front. Perfect with pin-up inspired dresses, or even just with jeans, they’re “as seen on Katie Price”, but don’t let that put you off.

Want to squirrel a pair away for next summer (or wear them now, if you’re lucky)? Click here to buy them for £54.99.

Red and blue stripe wedges from New Look

new look stripe wedges Red and blue stripe wedges from New LookNow that I know I’m going to be heading to the sun in a couple of week’s time, I’ve given myself permission to start looking at summery shoes again. (To look, though. Not to touch. My suitcase is going to be full enough without me adding any last-minute purchases to it!) That’s my excuse, anyway: I don’t know what reason New Look have for selling stripe wedges in November, but mine is not to question why, mine is simply to show you the pretty shoes, so here they are.

They’re £24.99. Click here to buy them.

Saturday Shoe Shot: The ones you all knew I’d buy…

Well, pay day arrived, and by an amazing co-incidence, so did those navy platforms from New Look which I was drooling over last week! Oh come on, like you didn’t know I would buy these!

These actually felt like even more of a bargain than the £25 price tag would suggest, because I happened to have some money in my Paypal account, and, like Caroline, who’s also written about this, I always feel like a Paypal balance is somehow free money. I mean, it doesn’t really count, does it?

(Yeah, yeah, I’ll keep telling myself that…)

I had a bit of trouble with the sizing on these shoes, because I’d initially assumed they were the same style as the pink and black platforms I have from New Look, and which I’d had to size up in. I ordered them in a size 5, then, but when they arrived I realised that they’re not quite the same shape at all: these have a round toe rather than a pointed one, and the 5s were huge, so they had to go back and be replaced with my usual size 4.

That aside, I love them just as much in the flesh (or in the faux-suede, rather) as I did in the photo, and am planning on getting lots of use out of them.

Enough about me, though: which shoes are YOU wearing today?

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 31 – Ruby Shoesday-ish

red nautical shoe chalenge Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 31 Ruby Shoesday ish

What: Red nautical peep toes
When: June 2010
Where: Shopping and dinner
With: Blue pindot dress (gifted); sunglasses (Gucci)

Can we pretend this is my Ruby Shoesday post for the week, even although the pool, sunshine, and fact that I’m wearing something other than layers of woolies proves that this photo definitely wasn’t taken here in the UK?

Can we also pretend I’m not, once again, flashing an almost indecent amount of thigh here? I promise the dress was less revealing when I wasn’t sprawled by the pool in it:

Dsquared2 navy and red nautical slingback sandals

dsquared2 Dsquared2 navy and red nautical slingback sandalsJust when you thought I couldn’t possibly come up with another nautical-themed shoe, along comes Dsquared2 with these cute little peep toes in navy and red.

I love these shoes (is anyone surprised by this admission?), not just for the colours, and the rope detail on the toe and slingback, but because they’re the perfect mix of casual and dressy, and would therefore make a versatile addition to a summer wardrobe or suitcase. I guess I know what I’M hoping Topshop/New Look/Matalan/whoever decide to take inspiration from this season, hmm?

If you’d like to take inspiration from them too, they’re £584 at Far Fetch.

Miss KG Medusa Wooden Platform Slingback Sandals

Well, it wouldn’t be Ruby Shoesday without at least one pair of red shoes on the site, would it? Today I thought I may as well go the whole hog and show you something red AND nautical, so here’s Miss KG’s ‘Medusa’ slingbacks, which come with a wooden sole and gold coloured rivets.

It will come as no surprise at all to you to learn that I really like these and can imagine wearing them with… almost everything I own, really. That’s always a good sign when you’re buying shoes, isn’t it? They cost £75 at ASOS, but if you’re anything like me, the cost-per-wear will be much lower!
