Kate Spade ‘Didi’ mesh Mary Janes with polka dots

kate spade didi pumps Kate Spade Didi mesh Mary Janes with polka dotsMesh shoes don’t normally make their way onto my mental wish list (and neither do combinations of two dark colours, like black and blue), but I’m going to make an exception for these ones by Kate Spade, and I suspect the reasons for that will be self-evident: I mean, polka dots, bows, peep toes – what’s not to love?

I actually think the mesh uppers work in their favour, too: it’s unusual, and gives them a very delicate feel, which will make them the perfect choice for party dresses, although they’ll also be cute peeking out of the bottom of a pair of tailored trousers.

Celebrity Shoes: Elisa Sednaoui in Christian Louboutin mesh knee boots

LFI CHANELSHOW077 Celebrity Shoes: Elisa Sednaoui in Christian Louboutin mesh knee boots

As beautiful as model Elisa Sednaoui is,  when I looked at this photo, I had eyes only for her shoes, which are Christian Louboutin’s knee-high mesh boots. Yes, mesh knee boots, you read that right. I guess they’re intended to be the perfect solution for people who want to continue wearing boots in warmer weather, and I can see how that would work, but I’m afraid these get the thumbs down from me. Prada mesh Mary Janes with perspex heel

prada mesh mary janes Prada mesh Mary Janes with perspex heelMesh uppers, clear heel: looks like Prada is going for a “barely there” feel this season, hmm?

On the plus-side, I’d imagine these mesh Mary Janes will keep your feel wonderfully cool, even in the warmest of weather.

On the minus side? Well, as much as I love peep toes, and sandals, and all kinds of other shoes that are designed to show off the foot inside them, somehow the idea of my WHOLE foot being visible through the mesh fabric of my court shoes just doesn’t appeal to me. At all. Does it appeal to you? If it does, these are available at Saks, where they’re £463.17.

Bionda Castana Solange’ mesh panelled shoe

Aren’t these lovely? A modern take on the t-bar, I could’ve lived without the mesh panels on the sides, but I don’t think they detract too much from the shoe either, so I’m not going o complain too much. It’s worth visiting the Browns website and zooming in on these to get the full effect: the t-bar is patent leather, the vamp is suede and the back of the shoe has a croc print, so there’s an interesting mix of textures which you can’t really appreciate from the small image.

These don’t come particularly cheap, at £430, but if you think they’re worth the investment, you can buy them here.
