Shoe Deja Vu: Martinez Valero does Gucci’s tattoo slingbacks

gucci knock offs Shoe Deja Vu: Martinez Valero does Guccis tattoo slingbacks

Oh, Martinez Valero, could you be any more blatant?

Although these Valero slingbacks are more-or-less exact copies of Gucci’s tattoo slingbacks from a couple of seasons ago (right down to the colours and design of the rose “tattoo”, I don’t think anyone looking at the image above would have any difficulty telling which was the designer shoe, even if I hadn’t captioned it for you. The Gucci version is a far more elegant shape, a nicer colour, and just looks more expensive, as you would expect given that they ARE more expensive – or rather were. These are past season, so they’re no longer available unless you want to try your luck on eBay or somewhere similar. The Valero shoes, on the other hand, are available at Endless.com, amongst other places, and are $96.22.

I loved these Guccis when they came out, but, having tried on the originals, I don’t think I could stomach the copies. Could you?

Especially for those of you who love our feathered friends enough to wear them on your feet…

When I look at these Martinez Valero sandals, two main thoughts run through my head. One is that it would be a lot of fun to watch someone with ticklish ankles try to wear these. The other is that anyone who DID try to wear them, could just end up looking like they were half woman, half bird. Which would be… interesting. Maybe a little scary. Definitely something a little bit different, though, so if you like your shoes to be just a shade exotic, these could be the ones for you. If they are, head over to Heels.com, where you can buy them for $174.99.

Sex and the City fans will have instantly recognised the shoes on the right of the image above as the shoes Carrie wears in the movie.

And everyone, SATC fan or not, will have instantly recognised the shoes on the LEFT as more or less exact copies of the Manolo Blahniks, minus that extra bit of Blahnik style. No?

Quite how this one didn’t get Martinez Valero sued is beyond me but the designer-inspired shoes are $164 from Zappos, while the Manolo originals are $945 from Bergdorf Goodman.
