Manolo Blahnik polka dot wedge sandals

manolo blahnik polka dot wedge sandals Manolo Blahnik polka dot wedge sandalsWell, I couldn’t let a pair of polka dot wedges go unrecorded here, could I?

These ones are by Manolo Blahnik, and are the evening version of one of my favourite styles. They combine a silk polka dot crossover strap with a 4″ white leather heel and black patent vamp. The more I look at them, the more I like them: the contrast of black and white, plus the polka print makes these sophisticated and fun at the same time, and as far as I can see, the $675 price tag is the only downside.

Manolo Blahnik blue satin ‘Clausado’ bow shoes

As I’ve never been the superstitious kind, I didn’t bother with the old/new/borrowed/blue thing when I got married. If you are a traditional kinda girl, however, wouldn’t these shoes make the perfect “Something blue”? The colour is absolutely glorious, the bow is oversized and slightly off-set and the heel, while not quite high enough for yours truly’s tastes, looks pretty manageabel – from here, at least.

The only dissadvantage would be having to hide them under a long gown, but hey, that’s why we have knee length and midi ones instead!

Of course, even if you’re not a bride, these are still a lovely shoe, and that colour will make them the centre of attention no matter what you wear with them. Which is a good thing, given that they’re $775, no?

Manolo Blahnik for Liberty: what do you think?

As some of you might known, Manolo Blahnik has just created a capsule creation for London department store, Liberty, and four of the designs from the collection are shown above.

I have mixed feelings about these shoes. On the one hand, I hate the pointed toe court shoes on the top right of this image: they look very dated to me, and I definitely can’t imagine paying £480 for them. On the other hand, I really quite like the other three designs shown here – particularly the curve-sided heels at the top left – although, again, I don’t think I’d pay £480 for them, either.

When I spotted these shoes at Neiman Marcus, I immediately thought they looked like the kind of thing you’d see being worn in some kind of period drama – or on the feet of the wicked witch in Snow White. That peaked front either says “supervillain” or “well dressed aristocrat from ye olden days” and I’m not quite sure which. Not that it matters, mind you: I love them either way and while I’d love to wear them with something like a tailored, 40s style suit, complete with matching gloves and hat, I think they’d work just as well with more modern pieces.

Like them? They’re by Manolo Blahnik, they’re £895, and you can buy them here.

Manolo Blahnik jewelled satin skimmers: Carrie’s wedding shoes, but flat!

Manolo Blahnik

Remember the bright blue Manolos which Mr Big used to propose to Carrie, and which she wore at her wedding? They were called ‘Hagisi’, and if the heels on them were too high for your liking, well, here’s the flat version, available in that same blue satin (and also in black), and retailing for $945 at Neiman Marcus.

Now, that’s about $900 more than I’d generally consider paying for a pair of flat pumps, even an “iconic” style that comes with a crystal brooch on the toe –  in fact, I think I’d probably want that brooch to be made from diamonds for that price – but what do you think of these?

Manolo Blahnik ‘Eila’ feather t-strap sandals

Now for something completely and utterly extravagant – and I’m not just talking about the $830 price tag! There’s just something very decadent looking about these Manolo Blahnik t-straps, which seem to hail from another era – and an altogether more glamorous one at that. I think they’d make wonderful wedding shoes, although if you really love them, you might think it’s a shame to hide them away under a long gown.

Do you love them, though?

Manolo Blahnik green suede ‘Deci’ peep toe pumps

Well, OK, I take that back: I can think of a couple of designers who’d give him a good ol’ run for his money, but the fact remains, this is one of Manolo’ Blahnik’s signature styles, and I think this green suede version is particularly delicious, but then, I would, considering my great love of all things green.

If you don’t love green, these also come in navy and black, and all three colours would be a worthy addition to any shoe closet, I’m sure. Want them? They’re $665 at Barneys.
