Louis Vuitton high heeled Wellington boots

We’ve had over a week of torrential rain here, now. We’re talking serious, Biblical-style rain: the kind that makes you not want to leave your house for days and keeps you awake at night thanks to the sound of it drumming on the windows. Weather like this makes me glad of my Lady Dragon shoes: sure, my feet get wet, but at least the shoes don’t get ruined! As we get closer to winter, though, my thoughts turn towards rain boots: specifically these rain boots by Louis Vuitton.

If I absolutely HAVE to wear wellies – and it seems that I will, if this weather continues – I want them to be these ones. In fact, I want to wear these ALL the time, whether it’s raining or not, they’re THAT beautiful. And look, they come in other colours, too!

louis vuitton high heeled wellington boots1 Louis Vuitton high heeled Wellington bootsAs they’re Louis Vuitton, they’re probably worth more than my car, but on the plus side, at least they’re practical for the weather right now, which is more than can be said for most of my shoes. (I know, a heel that high isn’t exactly “practical”. I’m trying my best to justify this here, though, so bear with me…) These will be available soon at Vuitton boutiques. I promise not to complain about the weather EVER AGAIN if someone buys me a pair…

Shoe Deja Vu: Schuh’s ‘Thelma’ Vs Louis Vuitton’s ‘Beauty’

louis vuitton schuh copies Shoe Deja Vu: Schuhs Thelma Vs Louis Vuittons Beauty

At first glance, Schuh’s ‘Thelma’ pumps reminded me very much of Louis Vuitton’s ‘Beauty’, which I loved so much last year.

Of course, now that I see them side by side… well, not so much, really. There’s no doubt which is the designer shoe and which is the high street one, is there? (Even without my handy captions underneath them, I mean. Those would be a bit of a giveaway even if the shoes were identical.) Still, the shape and feel of them is still very similar, so if your heart has been hankering over the Louis look, but your wallet is remaining firmly closed, these could make a nice, much-less-expensive substitute.

They’re £68 and you can click here to buy a pair.

Shoe Kryptonite: Louis Vuitton velvet ‘Beauty’ bow pumps

louis vuitton velvet beauty bow pumps Shoe Kryptonite: Louis Vuitton velvet Beauty bow pumpsI’m no big fan of Louis Vuitton – in fact, I’m not even a little fan of Louis Vuitton, but I am a huge fan of these shoes, which I’ve been smitten with since they appeared on the runway earlier this year. The Winter ad campaign sealed the deal for me: these look much better on a foot than they do in this product shot, and they’re the perfect finishing touch for the “ladylike” look that’s going to be so popular this season (and which I wholeheartedly approve of).

These also tap into this winter’s velvet trend, topping the velvet uppers with a flat bow, and finishing it off with a Swarovski crystal covered heel. When the words “Vuitton” and “Swarovski” appear in the same product description, however, it’s a big clue that the price is going to have you reaching for the smelling salts: these are $1,420, and they’re not available online, so you’ll have to search them down in a Louis Vuitton store if you want to buy them.

Celebrity Shoes: Natalia Vodianova in Louis Vuitton’s Cancan ankle-strap sandals

I’m not sure if it’s the way they’re cut, the way she’s standing, or just a really bad fit, but these shoes just don’t look comfortable on Natalia Vodianova, do they?

They’re Louis Vuitton’s Cancan ankle straps, and while I don’t tend to like Louis Vuitton in general, I really don’t like the shape of the heels on this particular line. Natalia obviously does, though, so take a look under the jump for some more photos, and to see what she wore with them!

The Shoes from the Shows: Louis Vuitton S/S 2010

louis vuitton shoes The Shoes from the Shows: Louis Vuitton S/S 2010

Lordy! These shoes have moustaches! What was I just saying about shoes with moustaches?

Granted, this was a runway show, and so you can expect things to be a little more (or sometimes a LOT more) stylised than the shoes that’ll eventually go on sale, but whereas the Alexander McQueen shoes I showed you yesterday were ugly in an “at least its creative” kinda way, these ones from the Louis Vuitton show are ugly in an … ugly kind of way.

Of course, I’m not a fan of LV shoes at the best of times, so my reaction is to be expected.

Ugly Shoe Deja Vu: Bakers’ version of Louis Vuitton’s feather sandals

So, I have a question: why is it always the ugliest designer shoes around that end up being copied by cheaper brands? Or it seems that way, anyway. I have no love at all for Louis Vuitton’s current feather-decorated collection, but someone obviously does, because not only have the shoes in question been copied by Bebe (as noted by The Fashion Police last month), now Bakers have got in on the act with their ‘Feather’ shoes (above, also available in black).

Granted, these are far from being exact copies, but it seems clear where the inspiration has come from, no? Good news if you’re a big Louis Vuitton fan, I guess, but I suspect I’m not the only one who wouldn’t touch these with a stiletto heel.

The Bebe versions, which are a much more direct copy, are pictured under the jump…
