Ravel ‘Hype’ leopard print wedge ankle boots

ravel hype leopard print boots Ravel Hype leopard print wedge ankle boots

My love of leopard print shoes has been well documented on this site now, but leopard print boots? I’m just not so sure, and I seem to veer wildly between thinking one minute that I’d never be able to pull them off, and then the next thinking they could be just the right touch to an otherwise understated outfit. (I have exactly the same feelings about leopard print coats, funnily enough: I think they can look either horrendously tacky or absolutely awesome, and although I’ve come dangerously close to buying one a few times now, I always worry I’d fall on the wrong side of that line, and end up putting it back!)

With all of that said, what do you all think of these Ravel ankle boots? Somewhat unusually, these come without the platform sole we normally see attached to wedge boots, and that’s either a curse or a blessing, depending on how you look at it. Lately I’ve been leaning heavily towards shoes without platforms (or with very small platforms), but I also tend to think that this style generally looks better with one. I’m all about the indecision today, aren’t I?

If you’re a little better than I am at making up your mind about these boots, I can tell you that they’re £50 at Spartoo, and you can click here to buy them. What DO you think of them?

ShoeperStar: Nicole Richie in House of Harlow leopard print ankle boots

I wrote about the trend for leopard print clothes over at The Fashion Police last week, but while animal print is currently flooding my favourite clothing retailers, for footwear fans, it’s a trend that never really dies: in fact, I don’t know about you, but I’ve always viewed a simple, animal print pump as something of a “classic”, and also something of a neutral – I’ve worn my leopard print shoes with just about everything, and when I’m not sure which shoes to wear with a particular outfit, my leopard pumps are generally the ones I’ll fall back on.

Animal print booties, however, are a little bit harder to pull off, and not quite as “classic”. I don’t lust over them the way I do over the same print of shoes, but I must say, I really love the way Nicole Richie is wearing this pair from her own House of Harlow 1960 line. I’m a fan of Nicole’s style in general, and I think this outfit is the perfect combination of simple dress and slightly “wild” shoes.

What do you think? Would you wear these? They’re $296 at Shopbop, if so!

Boutique 9 Alesandra Suede and Calf Hair Peep Toe Platform Pumps

I’ve shown you a lot of red/black/leopard combos over the past few weeks – or it feels like it, anyway – but I make no apologies for adding these Boutique 9 peeptoes to the list because I think they’re one of the best so far.

This particular combination of red platform and leopard print heel has been done before, but the shape of this shoe manages to make it look really unique. That thick, flat heel looks even better from the back than it does from the side, and the combination of it, plus the think platform, creates a satisfyingly chunky shape which packs a fair bit of punch.

A fabulous shoe, which I think looks more expensive than the $130 price tag suggests, these are also available with a beige patent upper, and you can click here to buy them at Saks.

ShoeperStar: Caroline Flack in Topshop’s ‘Activate’ leopard print ankle boots

There were some split opinions on Topshop’s ‘Activate’ ankle boots when I showed you them earlier this week, so when I came across this photo of them in action, I had to show it to you!

This is UK TV presenter Caroline Flack, who’ll be presenting this year’s X-Factor, at the official launch of the show this week. Caroline wore the Topshop boots with a little black dress, which is probably how I’d choose to wear something like this too (albeit I wouldn’t go for this particular dress), although when I saw them, one of my first thoughts was that they’d look good with jeans.

What do you think? Has Caroline managed to change your opinion of these at all?

Versace leopard-print calf hair and patent-leather pumps

OK, I’m going to keep this one brief because, let’s face it, there’s only so many times I can tell you how much I like the combination of red + leopard print, isn’t there? Or you’ll just start yelling, “We GET IT, Shoeperwoman! Now on with the shoes!”

These Versace pumps use the colour combination in question to maximum effect: there’s just no way anyone’s going to be ignoring these bad boys, are they? The heel, however, is unusual enough to attract attention even without the animal print attached to it. It has a bit of a futuristic feel and, actually, I’m just going to say it: it reminds me of Meccano, for some reason. No, I don’t know why.

These are £495, which is, of course, just a wee bit on the expensive side. Are they worth it, though? You decide…

I just had to show you these.

I know this particular  Charlotte Olympia silhouette is familiar to all of us by now, and that the stuck-on platform isn’t a favourite of many of you, but red and leopard print is one of my favourite combinations ever on a shoe, so these were just crying out to be featured.

And I know this is a shoe blog, not a dress blog, but I found these shoes in Net-a-Porter’s ‘New In’ section yesterday, and while I was there, these Victoria Beckham dresses cried out to be featured, too:

Hot on Elle Macpherson’s spiked heels, here’s another celebrity wearing skinny jeans and super-high stilettos: suddenly jeans are starting to look a whole lot more appealing to me again. (She says, as if she hasn’t been wearing jeans almost constantly for the past couple of weeks, because she’s so sick to death of winter clothing…)

This is Zoe Saldana, seen here wearing a pair of Brian Atwood’s ‘Fiona’ pumps - in this case, the leopard/python version:

leopard print bow shoes Shoe Kryptonite: Anastasia Bice leopard print shoes with blue bowOK, I’ve been thinking about this, and if I can just get two hundred and sixty four of you to each send me £1, I can buy these shoes. You’re all OK with that, aren’t you? I promise I’ll look after them. And I’ll wear them every single day, other than the days I’m doing a Shoe Challenge, and on those days I’ll put them out on display, so I can admire them even although I’m not wearing them.

Do we have a deal? No? Would this convince you?
