Kurt Geiger ‘Belle’ yellow suede peep toes

kurt geiger belle Kurt Geiger Belle yellow suede peep toes

Now that Kurt Geiger is finally shipping internationally, I figured it was safe to show you a pair of their shoes without risk of you all yelling at me because you can’t buy them! (I’m kidding: I understand all too well the pain of finding something you love, and then discovering that you’d need to move continent in order to buy it. It’s a First World Problem, but annoying all the same.)

These shoes are called ‘Belle’, and they come in my favourite colour of the season: a lovely, mustard yellow. The heel shape, meanwhile, reminds me very much of the one on my Corso Cosmo pumps (as does the colour, come to think of it), and is one of the reasons I like these so much: it’s one of those small touches which makes a big difference.

These shoes are also available in black and plum, although it took me a few seconds to realise that, because my eye went straight to the “look-at-me” yellow!

kurt geiger carvela grass red wedges Kurt Geiger A/W 2011 Lookbook

I’ve shown you Carvela’s red suede ‘Grass’ wedges already (and if you follow me on Facebook then you’re seeing them for the third time now: sorry about that.), but I just had to show you them again, as featured in the Kurt Geiger A/W 2011 campaign. I mean, I loved the shoes on their own, but this photo makes me drool. These are actually sold out in my size now on the Kurt Geiger website (which has had a bit of a revamp, incidentally: check it out!), so I’ve been desperately hoping that they pop up on Sarenza sometime, so I can make them mine. I can but hope.

Read on to see some more gorgeous images from the winter campaign…

Blue Suede Shoes: KG by Kurt Geiger ‘Bella’ Mary Janes

blue suede shoes kurt geiger bella Blue Suede Shoes: KG by Kurt Geiger Bella Mary Janes

These shoes will no doubt be familiar to those of you who subscribe to the Kurt Geiger email service, and as soon as that message arrived in my inbox, I knew I was going to have a lot of trouble resisting them. They’re called ‘Bella’, and they’re well-named, because they truly are beautiful, mixing blue suede uppers with a green trim, strap and bow. Or at least, I think they’re blue: the KG website actually describes them as purple, and they do look purplish on the site itself. Hmm, I think I may have to check these out in person, strictly for research purposes.

Blue or purple, though, I think the colour combination is a great way to make a simple shape really pop, and they’ve gone straight onto my wish list. If you want to add them to yours, too, you can click here to view them on the Kurt Geiger website, where they’re currently retailing for £140.

P.S. For those of you who followed yesterday’s saga with the person who was using my photo and website banner on their Facebook page, I just wanted to quickly update to let you know that the person has now removed the photos and apologised. She claims to be “an admirer” who just liked the photos and didn’t realise she was doing something wrong by using them.

Shoeperwoman Shops Shoeaholics: KG by Kurt Geiger red glitter ‘Jasmine’ pumps

kurt geiger jasmine pumps Shoeperwoman Shops Shoeaholics: KG by Kurt Geiger red glitter Jasmine pumps

Well, here they are: my first – but definitely not my last – order from the Shoeaholics site I told you about on Friday: Kurt Geiger’s ‘Jasmine’ court shoes:

I’d had my eye on these ever since they were released last year, but felt that the original, £100 price tag was a little too high for shoes I’d probably get a limited amount of wear out of, so I waited patiently for the sale. When the sale came, however, I continued to resist the lure of the Dorothy shoes, and I resisted valiantly… right up until the moment they sold out in my size, which was, of course, the exact same moment that I decided I really wanted to buy them.

When I saw them on Shoeaholics for just £29, then, I knew it was now or never, so I hit the “order” button and sat back to wait.

I didn’t have to wait very long, as it happens: I got a dispatch notification within an hour of placing my order, and, having made the purchase on Friday morning, the shoes arrived at 8am the following Monday – so far, so good for Shoeaholics.

But what did they look like?

Well, as I mentioned on Friday, many of the shoes on this site are ex-display, and the product description on the Jasmine courts stated that I should expect some cosmetic damage. I should probably note here that glitter-covered shoes aren’t really the fairest test for this site, because I would imagine they’d be more prone to damage than most other fabrics.  Realising this, I’d been prepared for the worst. Here’s what I got.

red glitter shoes Shoeperwoman Shops Shoeaholics: KG by Kurt Geiger red glitter Jasmine pumps

There’s some noticeable damage to the edges of the bow on both shoes: you can see from the photos below that the glitter has come off at the seam, leaving the white fabric visible underneath. Having examined the shoes closely, though, this is the only issue I can find: there’s absolutely no sign of wear on the soles, and the glitter coating is thick and even over the rest of the shoe.  Only one shoe has damage to the bow, and from the perfect condition of both the sole and insole, I’d guess it’s probably come from the shoe lying on its side in the box, rather than from people trying it on.

As far as the glitter loss goes, well, it’s noticeable when you take the shoes out of the box and hold them in your hands, but you do have to be fairly close to see it: I don’t think anyone would notice it when they’re actually being worn, for instance. I also suspect it would be easily repaired with a purchase of some red glitter and a glue gun – or I could simply use red ink to colour the white line where the glitter has come off, making it less noticeable.

Overall, I think the shoes were fairly priced given their condition. If I’d paid £100 for them, I’d obviously have been disappointed, but they were marked down to £29, what little damage there is will be easily repairable, and the cosmetic damage was clearly stated in the product description, so I think I got a good deal, all things considered.

Will I be keeping them? The jury’s still out on that one at the moment. I love the shoes, and I’m not at all put off by the missing glitter, but as fabulous as they are, I’m still wondering when I’ll ever get an opportunity to wear them, and if the black version might be a better option. One thing I do know, however, is that I’ll definitely be using Shoeaholics again: probably far too often for my own good!

Shoeper News: Kurt Geiger launches Shoeaholics discount shoe site

shoeaholics discount shoes from kurt geiger Shoeper News: Kurt Geiger launches Shoeaholics discount shoe site

Brace yourself, shoe lovers: I bring the kind of news that could do serious damage to your bank accounts.

This week, my favourite high street shoe brand, Kurt Geiger, launched Shoeaholics: a discount version of its online store. (Think of it as their version of The Outnet.) The shoes you’ll find here will probably be familiar to you if you’re a fan of Kurt Geiger and its associated brands: as well as the main line, you’ll find shoes by Carvela, Miss KG, and Fashionistas, as well a selection of brands like Nine West and Guess, which are sold by Kurt Geiger.

Oh, and they’re all heavily discounted, and I mean HEAVILY discounted. In the image above, for instance, you’ll see £150 shoes doen to £39, £110 shoes down to £9 (NINE! POUNDS! FOR! CARVELA!) and £95 shoes down to £19.

“But how on earth are they doing this, Shoeperwoman?” I hear you cry.

I wondered the same thing myself when I first looked at the site. In fact, I was so surprised by some of the prices that I actually hit the back button and re-checked my sources to make sure that these were, in fact, genuine shoes, and not some cheap copies. (Don’t worry, it’s the real thing.)

Well, they’re able to sell these shoes at such a discount because these are either old lines which didn’t sell well at the time, or they’re ex-display models. The majority of shoes I looked at on the site seemed to fall into the “ex-display” category and had disclaimers stating that they “WILL HAVE some minor cosmetic damage”. Ah. That explains the low prices, then.

Is it still worth a shot? Well, I, for one, am willing to give it a go. I placed an order with Shoeaholics this morning, and I will, of course, report back to you on what the shoes are like when they arrive, and whether the “minor cosmetic” damage they claim to have will be minor enough to be lived with or major enough to make me want to return them. I do this purely in the name of research, you understand. In fact, I do it FOR YOU, readers, like the true Shoeperhero I am. I buy shoes so you don’t have to!

Want to take a look for yourself? Click here to visit the Shoeaholics site – but before you do, let me just deliver the final piece of bad news: shipping is currently only available to the UK: please don’t hate me!

Miss KG by Kurt Geiger ‘Minnie’ platforms in grey and pink

Well, they’re not the red version I declared to be Shoe Kryptonite last month, but they WERE on sale, and they HAD been on my wish list for the best part of a year, so when Kurt Geiger reduced their grey ‘Minnie’ pumps to £45 in the sale, I figured it would be silly not to grab a pair!

These actually went on sale a just a couple of days before I went on holiday, and I was a bit disappointed, assuming they’d have sold out long before I got back. One of the things I love about Kurt Geiger, however, is the fact that their stock seems to stick around much longer than some other high street stores I could mention (*cough* Zara *cough*) , in which you have to either buy the thing  the second you see it, or resign yourself to trawling eBay for it for the rest of your life. This is why I have some confidence that the red version of these shoes will still be around when I can justify buying them, although by saying that, I’ve probably just guaranteed that they’ll be sold out by tomorrow.

I love the contrast of the grey felt uppers and suede bows on these. Those fabrics do make them feel rather “wintry” to me, though, so I’ll be waiting until the cooler weather kicks in to “save” these – after last year’s Shoe Challenge I’m determined to wear my summer shoes while I have the opportunity!

Kurt Geiger Fashionistas Corso Como pumps in mustard

    by
    11

kurt geiger corso como shoes Kurt Geiger Fashionistas Corso Como pumps in mustard

As I mentioned on Friday, I managed to leave California with only one more pair of shoes than I arrived with (I’ve already “saved” them, so will wait until I’m posting the Challenge photos to show you them. I should probably add here that they’re just a pair of Forever 21 cheapies, just in case anyone’s getting excited about some kind of big reveal!), which is a new record for me. Boy, have I been making up for it since I’ve been back on British soil, though: as well as the latest pair of shoes I received as part of the Sarenza Brand Ambassador programme (more on those later, too!), there was also the small matter of the Kurt Geiger sale at Heathrow airport…

Now, we had only a very short stopover at Heathrow last week, and by “very short” I mean that by the time we cleared security, we had only around 20 minutes to get to the gate for our connecting flight.

But there’s a Kurt Geiger at Heathrow.

And it had a sale on.

And I still had some of my holiday money burning a hole in my pocket.

You can see my dilemma here, can’t you?

Well, I begged and I pleaded, and then I begged some more, and even although my travelling companions had good reason to doubt my ability to spend “just two minutes” in my favourite high street shoe store, they finally agreed that they’d walk ahead to the gate, and I’d catch up with them after my alloted two minutes.

I really thought that was all I’d need. My plan, you see, was to buy the red ‘Minnie’ pumps I showed you earlier this month, and I figured I’d simply walk in, scour the store from them, buy them, and leave, without allowing myself to be tempted by any of the other beauties on display.

    They didn’t have them.

    They did, however, have these:

kurt geiger corso como mustard Kurt Geiger Fashionistas Corso Como pumps in mustard
As some of you may recall, these are KG’s ‘Corso Como’ pumps, which I’ve loved since the first incarnation of them was released last year. At £250, however, I’d resigned myself to never owning a pair, so although I’d picked them up and admired them in the same store on the way out of Heathrow last month, it hadn’t even occurred to me that these would be the shoes I’d be coming home with.

I don’t know why I even picked them up again, to be honest. I was running late, I knew they were far out of my price range… but still, I figured I’d just take a quick look at the display shoe, and maybe even try it on if it happened to be my size, which it obviously wouldn’t be – they almost never are.

So I picked up the shoe and turned it over. It was my size. More amazingly still, though, right next to the size, was the price label. And since I’d last looked at these shoes, three weeks earlier, they’d been reduced to £79.

kurt geiger mustard corso como pumps Kurt Geiger Fashionistas Corso Como pumps in mustard
(The shoes look orange in these photos, but are actually a gorgeous mustard yellow, which is a colour I absolutely love, and which was sadly lacking from my collection until now.)

I thought it must be a mistake at first. There was just no way I was standing there holding the £250 shoes I’d lusted over for months, which were not only in my size, but were suddenly also in my budget. The price was still the same after I’d rubbed my eyes and pinched myself a couple of times, though, so I didn’t even stop to try them on: I just headed for the till, getting my wallet out as I went.

There was no one at the till.

There were no sales assistants in the entire STORE, in fact, and as I stood there, gazing around for someone who’d be prepared to take my money and bring me the other shoe, I saw Shoeperman appear in the doorway, tapping his watch and pantomiming “Quick! We’re going to miss our flight!” at me.

I tried to pantomime back “It’s the Corso Como pumps! ON SALE!” but Terry doesn’t speak “shoe”, so he just looked annoyed and started pacing back and forth outside. Luckily, the sales assistant chose that moment to appear, so I thrust the shoe at her and babbled something incoherent about a shoe emergency, and she disappeared into the back of the store to find the shoe’s mate.

She stayed in the back of the store for… oooh, about three years, I think it was. Shoeperman had now come into the store and was becoming frantic about the time. I’d broken out into a cold sweat. And when the assistant finally reappeared?

    She didn’t have my shoe.

“You’re next!” she said cheerfully, before disappearing again for another 7 years.

I almost gave up. We really were going to miss the flight if we didn’t leave rightthatverysecond, and I was heartbroken to think I’d come so near, but so far, from the Corso Comos.

Just as I was about to turn away in defeat, though, the assistant reappeared. With the other shoe.

kurt geiger fashionistas corso como Kurt Geiger Fashionistas Corso Como pumps in mustard
Fortunately for me, I’d been able to use some of the waiting time to try on the shoe I already had, so I knew it, at least, fit*. There wasn’t time to try the other, so I paid as quickly as I could, grabbed the shoes, and ran for the door.

Terry and I actually had to run through the terminal to our gate, which we – luckily for me – reached with just a couple of minutes to spare. I’m sure Terry will forgive me soon for the stress I put him, through.

I, meanwhile, think it was totally worth it.

Oh, and they did both fit, thankfully!

(P.S. This particular colour doesn’t seem to be available online any more, but Kurt Geiger does still have stock of the pink, black and metallic versions, which you’ll find here, priced from £75 – £95).
