Miu Miu red pointed toe platform knee boots

These could just be my dream boots. Or, as Rachel once said in Friends, my “I don’t need my parents, I don’t need a job, I’ve got great boots boots!” (And now, every time I find great boots, I think, “Ooh! Great boots-boots!”)

Of course, it’s possible just the colour that’s making me think that. I’ve been looking for a great pair of red winter boots for years now, and this shade is perfect: it’s bright enough to stand out, but not so bright that you’d feel like a clown wearing it. Or it could be the elegant shape of the leg. Or the slender heel. Sure, I could live with a slightly rounder toe, but imagine these peeking out of the bottom of a simple black dress: perfect!

Naturally, at $995, my dream boots will have to remain a dream. Although, when you consider how often I actually get to WEAR boots, I could have the cost-per-wear down to almost nothing in no time!

These are by Miu Miu and you can buy them at Neiman Marcus.

Shoeperwoman’s Shoes: River Island brown pointed knee-high boots

I’ve been on the lookout for a pair of brown, knee-high boots for absolutely ages. I have a pair of three-quarter length ones, but they’re pretty casual, and I wanted something a bit smarter to wear with dresses and skirts. The problem with knee highs and me, though, is that it’s always really difficult to get the right fit on the calf. Most knee-high boot look like wellies on me, so when I found these ones in River Island, which are as good fit as I’m likely to find without paying for made-to-measure, I knew they had to be mine! Shoeperman actually bought them for me as a belated Christmas gift, so I have him to thank for the first new shoes of the year!

I mostly like these boots because they’re fairly plain, with just a small metal detail at the ankle. I was looking for something simple and versatile, and although the pointed toe is a bit of a departure for me, because I’ve mostly been wearing rounder toes over the past couple of years, it makes them quite elegant, too.

They’re just a little too big on the calf, but still the best fit I’ve managed to find on the high street. There are various brands now which allow you to send your calf measurements in and get the perfect fit, but they do cost a little more, so I’ll leave those for next time!

Now, of course, I just need the snow to disappear, so I can actually wear them!

    ASOS ‘Gossip’ lace-up knee boots

Running shoes aside, laces are conspicuous by their absence in the shoeper shoe closet. This isn’t because I don’t like them – actually, it’s mostly because I’m too lazy to bother with them – but it is true to say that it’s been a while since I found a lace-up style I loved.

These ‘Gossip’ boots from ASOS have almost swayed me, though. They have a nice Victoriana/Gothic feel to them that I like, and I suspect the lace-up fronts will also make them that bit more adjustable than most knee boots, so those of us whose calves are either too skinny or too wide for regular knee boots will find them a better fit.

If you’d like to test that theory out for yourself, they’re £60 at ASOS.

Dune’s ‘Jin’ diamante detailed bow boot

bow knee boots Dunes Jin diamante detailed bow bootEvery time I visit the Dune website, I head straight to the “Glitzy Glam” section. It’s the one with the most extravagant shoes – the ones I’d probably never have the chance to wear, but which I like to look at, anyway. These ‘Jin’ boots fall into that category. The diamante bows on the ankles give these a very dressed-up look, but for those of you worried about cankles – or who just don’t like bows – it looks to me like they’re probably detachable, leaving you with a simple black suede boot.

Some days it feels like it actually still IS the 80s, doesn’t it? These boots help add to that impression, with the flash of colour at the ankle, but I think they’re a lot more palatable than many of the other 80′s fashion influences we’ve been seeing around for the past couple of years. Actually, I may even really like the black version with the bright blue flash: but then again, I might not. They’re one of those things I just can’t quite make my mind up about.

These are from New Look’s Limited Collection, and, as such, they’re a little more expensive than most New Look footwear, at £70. What do you think of them?

Purple and grey suede slouch boots from Dorothy Perkins

suede slouch boots Purple and grey suede slouch boots from Dorothy PerkinsI have a bit of a “thing” for purple boots at the moment. Fi has a a fantastic pair from Next that I rather like the look of, but these ones from Dorothy Perkins have also caught my eye. The purple makes a nice change from black, but is also dark enough and neutral enough to be fairly versatile.

I also like the grey version of these, and the low-ish heel should make them easy to walk in. As ever with suede shoes/boots, I worry about taking them out in the rain (which pretty much rules out wearing them at all around here, unfortunately), but if you have similar concerns, the style is also available in brown leather.

Carlos by Carlos Santana Ingenue knee-high boots

Even after all this time, it still blows my mind a little that Carlos Santana has a shoe line. Is that just me? And not just that, but a shoe line that has so far failed to produce a single shoe I’ve liked. At all.

But these ‘Ingenue’ boots. Hmmm. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I love them, but I might not actively hate them. I have a feeling the trim on the sides could go either way: it could look fabulous, or it could look like part of some kind of costume, although what kind I don’t know. And actually, now I come to write this post, it occurs to me that “I don’t know” is my over-riding feeling about these. Which is helpful, I’m sure.

Do YOU know what you think of these boots? And if so: WHAT?

Dune Military kitten heel knee boots

    by

dune military knee boots Dune Military kitten heel knee bootsOf all the styles and shapes of heel out there, kitten heels tend to be one of my least favourite: there’s just something a bit indecisive about them, which has never really appealed to me. Until now, that is, because I think the kitten heel on Dune’s ‘Military’ knee boots works really well, and compliments the shape of the boot overall.

Military influenced style is always popular in the colder months, and I love it: these boots are smart and elegant, and the lower heel should also make them relatively comfortable. I particularly love the taupe/grey colour here, but the black versions are also lovely. They’re £130 from Dune.
