Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Vicky Botta 120mm red boots

christian louboutin vicky botta boots Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Vicky Botta 120mm red boots

Oh. My. GOD.

How much do I want  these boots, readers?

SO MUCH. So very, very much. I mean, I’m not saying I’d sell my soul for them or anything, because that would just be ridiculous, but… actually, you know what? I AM saying that. Can I interest anyone in a soul? It’s hardly used, one careful lady owner? Will trade for these Christian Louboutin Vicky Botta boots? Anyone?

OK, looks like I’ll just have to find $1,595 from somewhere. Fair enough. It’s good to have an aim in life, and I’ve just found mine. I’m a shoeperhero, after all: I can probably write them off as a business expense…

These are also available in grey, and buying them will make your life instantly better*. Click here to do it.

* Not actually true. Spend responsibly, kids!

Teal platform knee boots from Next

Yesterday’s post about those tan wedge loafers prompted me to take a closer look at Next, which, I must confess, is a store I tend to neglect, despite being consistently impressed by their shoe collections. I’m glad I did, too, because shortly after arriving on their website, I discovered these fabulous teal platform boots.

Aren’t these gorgeous? The colour would be great on its own, but I also really like the shape, which is practical but stylish, and which looks to me like it would stand up to a lot of use: always an essential for a winter boot.

My one concern about these is the leg width. Judging by the photo on the website, they’re wide enough to be worn with jeans tucked into them, and that can lead to a “wellies” look if you’re trying to wear them with tights. Still, I think they’d be worth investigating anyway, so I may just have to pop into the store, next time I’m out shopping.

Suede ‘Lottie’ knee boots by Hush Puppies

I feel like I should show you some more pairs of boots. We’ve now reached that time of year when my fellow UK shoe bloggers start to put up posts talking about how excited they are for winter, because it means they can wear coats and boots. And I always read those boots and think, “Seriously? Do you live in a different UK from me?” Because really, where I am, you could pretty much wear coats and boots all year round: it’s only my love of summer fashion and peep toes that stops me doing it.

So I’m afraid I can’t share in the “boots” excitement. Oh sure, there are some great boots out there, but most of them don’t really do it for me. And I much prefer the way most of my clothes look with shoes, so…  meh. I’m sad.

For a pair of boots to really catch my eye, then, there has to be something every special about them – like those spiked heels I showed you on the Brian Atwood thigh boots yesterday. Or like the beautiful blue suede on these Hush Puppies knee boots, say.

Now, Hush Puppies is a brand I am guilty of more or less ignoring. I know they have a reputation for quality and comfort, but they also tend to err on the side of “sensible”, so I must admit, I was surprised to find that they were the brand behind these boots. I mean, look at them: the bright colour, the button embellishments (I love buttons on boots), the little patent inserts: they’re just gorgeous. And if I really HAVE to submit to winter footwear, then I want it to be bright and cheerful. A bit like this:

Maison Martin Margiela tan leather wedge boots

Want the look of a heeled boot without the inconvenience of one? Well, look no further…

These Maison Martin Margiela tan knee boots are part of a growing trend for heels-disguised-as-wedges. They may not look too convincing right now (once your eyes have focused in on the space between the “heel” and the sole, it becomes all you can see!) but at first glance I didn’t actually realise they were wedges, so I’d be interested to see what they’re like in real life: or at least, I would have been until I saw the price tag. $1,250 for what’s essentially just a tan wedge boot? I’ll wait for the high street version, I think. If you want to go for this one, however, just click here to buy.

Tan 70s style knee boots from Miss Selfridge

Seventies style is one of the big trends of this winter, and while I was a little alarmed by that news at first, the seventies being one of my least-favourite decades in fashion, I’ve actually been surprised by how much I’ve liked some of the products of that trend. These Miss Selfridge boots have a definite 70s feel, with that stacked heel and tan upper, but they’ll allow you to simply hint at the decade, rather than looking like you’re auditioning for an Abba tribute group. Other plus points are the go-with-anything colour and the fact that the sturdy heel should make them relatively comfortable.

These aren’t leather, which surprised me a little, as they’re £75, but if that doesn’t bother you, click here to buy them from Miss Selfridge.

Kate Spade ‘Kolleen’ knee high suede boots with bow

kate spade knee boots Kate Spade Kolleen knee high suede boots with bowClassic black knee boots… which just so happen to have a beautiful big ribbon bow right at the top of the leg. These have the kind of simple style that will take you anywhere. Without the bow they might just have been too simple, but it adds just the right amount of interest to make these boots stand out. I also like the difference in texture between the grosgrain bow and the suede uppers: those aren’t exactly all-weather fabrics, obviously, and I wouldn’t fancy getting these wet (or snowed upon), but on a crisp, cold day, they could just be perfect.

These are $595: click here to buy them from Kate Spade.

Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Ronfifi Alta 100 buttoned boots

I’ve been banging on about the approach of winter for weeks now, so I thought I may as well bow to the inevitable and make this week’s Friday Fix a pair of boots.

I know at least one person who loves Christian Louboutin’s Ronfifi Alta 100 buttoned boots, and, actually, better make that two people, because I love them too. The Victoriana feel of the multiple buttons and lace-fronts is just perfect for winter: all you need is a fabulous coat to wear with them… oh, and £1,070.

Anyone else want to add their name to the list of those who love these boots?

Miu Miu red pointed toe platform knee boots

These could just be my dream boots. Or, as Rachel once said in Friends, my “I don’t need my parents, I don’t need a job, I’ve got great boots boots!” (And now, every time I find great boots, I think, “Ooh! Great boots-boots!”)

Of course, it’s possible just the colour that’s making me think that. I’ve been looking for a great pair of red winter boots for years now, and this shade is perfect: it’s bright enough to stand out, but not so bright that you’d feel like a clown wearing it. Or it could be the elegant shape of the leg. Or the slender heel. Sure, I could live with a slightly rounder toe, but imagine these peeking out of the bottom of a simple black dress: perfect!

Naturally, at $995, my dream boots will have to remain a dream. Although, when you consider how often I actually get to WEAR boots, I could have the cost-per-wear down to almost nothing in no time!

These are by Miu Miu and you can buy them at Neiman Marcus.
