Kate Spade ‘Latrice’ yellow pointed court shoes

kate spade latrice shoes Kate Spade Latrice yellow pointed court shoes

As much as I’ve been loving yellow this season, this particular shade is one I just can’t learn to love, possibly because I had a t-shirt in roughly this shade as a child, and I think it must have scarred me for life.

Mad props to Kate Spade then, for making this colour actually seem semi-palatable to me on these ‘Latrice’ pumps. Sure, the yellow, purple and pink combination is pretty unexpected, but it has that “made you look!” quality about it that I kinda like in a shoe, and it’s actually less jarring than I would have expected.

Now to the elephant in the room: the pointed toes. We’ve talked a lot about these over the past few months, as they’ve started to make their way back into fashion. I’m definitely feeling better disposed towards them than I was this time last year, purely because of the constant exposure, which makes them feel less dated, but I still have a ways to go before I’d be willing to slip into something quite this pointy. What do you think?

Shoeperheroes or Shoepervillains? Kate Spade purple suede ‘Linette’ pumps

These shoes appear to have facial hair. Am I the only one who sees it? That huge, purple beard stuck to the toe? No? Because while I’m sure there’s a gorgeous shoe underneath it all – you can see its outline if you look through the fuzz, and there’s even a pretty little black bow on the toe – all I can think about when I look at these is how much I want to give them a trim. Or even a shave, to be honest: I think they’d look far, far better with just the bow on its own. At first I thought it was just the angle, or the colour, or even just this specific shoe, but nope, the grey version creates exactly the same impression in my mind:

I really WANT to like these, though, so tell me: what do you think of them? Are these Shoeperheroes, or are they Shoepervillains?

Kate Spade ‘New York Dreamer’ pink suede heart shoes

kate spade new york dreamer heart shoes Kate Spade New York Dreamer pink suede heart shoesKate Spade is almost as fond of hearts on shoes as I am. I’ve shown you a couple of her heart-fronted shoes before, but I’m afraid that doesn’t stop me wanting to also show you these pink suede ‘New York Dreamer’ peep toes.

kate spade pink heart shoes Kate Spade New York Dreamer pink suede heart shoesThe heart detail on these is bigger and more dramatic than the ‘Ginny’ shoes I showed you back in 2009, and the size and shape of it makes me think these could be a perfect for those of you who love the style of Vivienne Westwood’s Lady Dragon shoes, but who just can’t get your head around the idea of plastic shoes.

These most definitely aren’t plastic: they’re a gorgeous, bright pink suede, and if they weren’t $325, they’d be on their way to me right now.

Kate Spade ‘Charm’ glitter bow slingbacks

kate spade charm slingbacks Kate Spade Charm glitter bow slingbacks

I told myself I’d try to go easy on the ol’ glitter-covered shoes for a few days at least, but it would appear that glitter is a hard habit to break, and so it is that I find myself drooling over these ‘Charm’ slingbacks, by Kate Spade.

I think these are a particularly pretty example of the glitter look, and they make me wish I had a more glamorous life, and actually had a need for them. Then again, I’ve always been a firm believer in the idea that even the most OTT shoe can be dressed down with a pair of jeans, so there is still hope. There’s just not $325, unfortunately, which means I’m not going to be able to put my theory to the test in this particular case.

Ace of Spades: Kate Spade pink patent ‘Nera’ flats

kate spade pink patent nera flats Ace of Spades: Kate Spade pink patent Nera flats

My search for pretty flats continues, and this week I’ve turned up these fabulous pink patent pumps by Kate Spade. Now, $228 is quite a bit more than I’m thinking of spending on flats – I’m much, much harder on them than I ever am on heels, so they never seem to last very long – but that aside, I absolutely love the little ”spade” detail on the toe, which is totally different from most other shoe embellishments, and gives them a very whimsical, Alice-in-Wonderland kind of feel. And that’s without even mentioning the glorious, bright pink upper.

Kate Spade black ‘Darla’ peep toe Mary Janes

Polka dots aren’t just for summer: or not as far as I’m concerned, and luckily, not as far as Kate Spade is concerned either, because these ‘Darla’ peep toes are topped with a cute little dotted chiffon flower.

That flower is the making of these shoes: without it they’d still be lovely, true, but they’d be just a little less special. As they are, however, they make a great pair of evening shoes, which are the kind of thing you’ll have in your shoe closet for years to come.

These are $289 at Kate Spade: click here to buy them.

Kate Spade ‘Didi’ mesh Mary Janes with polka dots

kate spade didi pumps Kate Spade Didi mesh Mary Janes with polka dotsMesh shoes don’t normally make their way onto my mental wish list (and neither do combinations of two dark colours, like black and blue), but I’m going to make an exception for these ones by Kate Spade, and I suspect the reasons for that will be self-evident: I mean, polka dots, bows, peep toes – what’s not to love?

I actually think the mesh uppers work in their favour, too: it’s unusual, and gives them a very delicate feel, which will make them the perfect choice for party dresses, although they’ll also be cute peeking out of the bottom of a pair of tailored trousers.

Kate Spade ‘Kolleen’ knee high suede boots with bow

kate spade knee boots Kate Spade Kolleen knee high suede boots with bowClassic black knee boots… which just so happen to have a beautiful big ribbon bow right at the top of the leg. These have the kind of simple style that will take you anywhere. Without the bow they might just have been too simple, but it adds just the right amount of interest to make these boots stand out. I also like the difference in texture between the grosgrain bow and the suede uppers: those aren’t exactly all-weather fabrics, obviously, and I wouldn’t fancy getting these wet (or snowed upon), but on a crisp, cold day, they could just be perfect.
