Jerome C. Rousseau ‘Oz’ silver open toed sandals, £400

Wow. ShoeScribe.com describes these shoes as “breath-taking” and all I can to that is they’re definitely not wrong.

These shoes have a story. This makes me happy: I love a shoe with a story, don’t you? They were created by Jermone C. Rousseu exclusively for ShoeScribe, and they’re inspired by the movie Oz The Great and Powerful: which, co-incidentally, was released on the day I found these shoes last week. I think that’s probably a sign that I should go see the movie at least, although I’m REALLY hoping it’s a sign that I should buy the shoes. Or better still, that they’ll magically appear on my shoe shelves. Well, it’s a movie about a magical land: that’s not TOO far-fetched, surely?

Regardless of what inspired these shoes, though, I think they’re absolutely stunning, and the kind of shoes you’d want to keep FOREVER, just because they’re so very special.

These were designed in honour of ShoeScribe’s first birthday. In the year it’s been around, ShoeScribe has become one of my favourite destination for total shoe eye-candy, so I wish them a very happy birthday: and I can’t think of a better shoe to celebrate it with!

    Jerome C Rouseau glitter shoes

Jerome C. Rousseau Kier Iridescent Sandals, $795

I thought we may as well kick off the week the way we’d like to continue it – wearing the most amazing footwear we can find!

And, OK, I’m not actually wearing these shoes.I mean, I’m sitting at my computer right now, and don’t tell anyone, but I might still be in my workout gear. (And there’s also the small matter of me not actually owning them…) In my mind, though, I’m somewhere much more fabulous, where silver, glitter-covered sandals aren’t just “appropriate”, they’re positively required.

    But enough daydreaming.

I’ve been really loving Jerome C. Rousseau lately: this is one brand that can always be relied on to do something interesting (often involving glitter!) with the shape of a shoe, and while I don’t even know quite how to describe the double loops on the front of this one, I do applaud them for making it work!

    black and gold sandals

“Chunky” was the first word that sprang to mind when first I laid eyes on these shoes. The heel is chunky, in that “almost a wedge” kind of way. The straps are chunky. The platform is chunky. They’re chunky, is what I’m trying to say here. (Did you get that these shoes are chunky? Did you?)

Now, “chunky” isn’t a word I normally like to associate with my shoes (and I promise that’ll be the last time I’ll write it here, because I’ve written it so many times now, it’s started to lose all meaning…), but in this case, it works perfectly. The black and gold colour combination will do it every time for me, but I just don’t think this shoe would’ve been have as effective with a more slender heel, or a more delicate upper. As they are, these have a bit of a “70s disco” feel to them, and while that’s also not something I usually go for, it totally works on these shoes.

These are by Jerome C. Rousseau and they’re $695 at Shopbop: click here to buy them.

    silver glitter shoes

Like so many of Jerome C. Roussea‘s shoes, these silver glitter pumps have a slightly “unreal” feel about them, somehow, as if they belong in a shoe museum, rather than on someone’s feet. They also have a rather doll-like quality, which could just be down to the angle of the photo, but which may also have something to do with the low vamp and generally “dainty” look.

Now, none of these things would normally attract me to a shoe – especially one that’s been liberally doused in silver glitter, into this bargain – but I actually love these. They look to me like they’re right out of a fairytale, and they’ve also managed to pull off the difficult task of being glittery without being tacky.

The downside, of course, is that for shoes that probably won’t end up getting a huge amount of use, these are pretty pricey, even although they’re on sale: they’re down to £298, and you can click here to buy them from Spartoo.

    Shoes With Hooks on Heels
These shoes aren’t here because I think you’ll like them – I’m pretty sure you won’t, but you’ve surprised me before! – but simply for sheer novelty value. I think this is the first time I’ve seen shoes with this particular kind of “hook” detail on the heel, and I just can’t seem to shake my first impression of them, which was that they look like they’re designed to be hung up on the wall, like pieces or art… or maybe kitchen implements.
My second impression, meanwhile, was that I’d probably be able to do a LOT of damage in a pair of shoes with metal hooks on the heels: happily, the silver detailing turns out to be leather, which will hopefully be a little less dangerous, albeit no less strange looking.
Can you think of a reason you’d need these in your life? If you can, you need to know that they’re £449, and you can buy them at Louisa Via Roma: click here to order a pair.
