Harajuku Lovers Kandice platform pumps in pale blue

Harajuku Lovers Womens Kandice Platform Pump Harajuku Lovers Kandice platform pumps in pale blueIt’s that chunky shape and super-high heel/platform again!

TheseĀ Harajuku Lovers cork platforms make such a strong style statement, and I love it, both for the two-toned upper, and for that towering heel, which would allow me to experience what life’s like for a tall person – or at least a regularly sized one, anyway.

I’ve shown you these in blue, because it’s my favourite of the three colours these come in, but if you prefer something a little more muted, they’re also available in black and brown. They’re $99.95 at Amazon.

Harajuku Lovers ‘Abilly’ suede wedges with heart peep toes

These shoes were pointed out to me by reader Ellen, who suggested they might be a slightly more subtle option for those of us who like to wear our hearts on our shoes! I completely agree, and while I still think Alexander McQueen did heart-shaped peep toes best, these ones are at least significantly less pricey at just $39.99.

If I could wish for one thing with these, it would be a selection of brighter colours, but if you’re looking for a low-heeled grey or black wedge, you can find these here.

Harajuku Lovers ‘Diamond’ Mary Janes with striped lining

harajuku lovers diamond pum Harajuku Lovers Diamond Mary Janes with striped liningIt’s hard to go wrong with a pair of black Mary Janes, and these ones by Harajuku Lovers are made extra-special with the addition of the cute little fold-over detail at the ankle. The fact that it has a stripe pattern, well, that’s just the icing on the cake: or the stripe on the shoe, as the case may be.

I’m also growing fonder of pointed-toes on platforms, and particularly on Mary Jane styles. It helps stop them looking too chunky, and just gives the shoe a more elegant shape, without looking too pointy, which can sometimes be the fate of shoes without a platform.

These are $89.95, and you can grab a pair at Endless.

Heroes or Villains: Harajuku Lovers ‘Dobson’ bow-tie boots

harajuku lovers dobson Heroes or Villains: Harajuku Lovers Dobson bow tie bootsIt’s been a long time since we had a ‘Heroes or Villains’ post here, so rather than telling you what I think of Harajuku Lovers’ ‘Dobson’ boots – which look like they’re wearing a shirt and tie – I’m going to let you tell me.

Are they shoe heroes, or are they villains of the footwear world? Place your vote in the poll below, and don’t forget to tell me the reasons behind your vote!

Harajuku Lovers ‘Laila’ slingbacks in lemon and green

Yellow is a colour a lot of people seem to dislike, or at least have trouble wearing, but I’m quite partial to it at this time of year, and the lemon and green combination on theseĀ  Harajuku Lovers slingbacks is certainly very fresh looking.

Really, though, it’s the tiny little red hearts on the front of these shoes that I like: very cute, but not sickeningly so, and the simple shape of the shoe makes it much less fussy than the words “four hearts on the toe” would suggest.

These are a relatively affordable $80, and you can get them at Zappos.
