Guess ‘Galone’ red suede t-bar court shoes

For some reason, these shoes just scream “Fall” to me. I’m not sure why, because, Lord knows, red shoes work any time of year as far as I’m concerned, but there’s just something about them that makes me think of crisp, cool days and the kind of outfits that really benefit from a bright splash of colour.

There’s also something about them that would make them easy to wear until they start to fall apart: if you don’t believe me that red is a neutral, try the black or taupe versions instead, which also add a bit of patent leather into the mix.

I know there’s nothing very different or unique about these shoes, but there’s also something rather Louboutin-on-a-budget about them too, so I’ll take a pair in every colour, please, and I promise to wear them until they fall apart. Not that it would be difficult, of course: this particular style, in these three colours, would be the only shoes I’d need to get through the summer (and a large part of the rest of the year, too), and as they cost just $89 each, they won’t cost a fortune, either.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 55: Marilyn Monroe Halloween Costume

What: Pewter peep toes from Guess (c/o Marshalls)
When: Saturday, October 30th, 2010
Where: Halloween costume party
With: White dress and blonde wig (both eBay)

Halloween is one of my favourite times of year, and I have to confess, I love it not just because there are always a couple of great parties to go to, but because those parties offer the best opportunity I get to dress up as much as I want. I mean, no one can tell you you’re “overdressed” when some of the people in the room are painted blue, can they?

Basically, then, I use Halloween as an excuse for all-out glamour, so, for the first of the two costume parties we were invited to this Halloween, I decided to go as the ultimate retro-glamour girl:

Guess ‘Amazed’ red suede platform pumps

guess red suede high heels Guess Amazed red suede platform pumpsI wasn’t totally sold on the last pair of red shoes shoes I showed you from Guess, but these ones? These ones I’d buy in a minute: sure, they’re as simple as it gets in terms of shape, but they’re also the perfect shade of red suede, and that makes all the difference. The hidden platform also helps, here, both in terms of the appearance of the shoe, and in that it’ll help you walk a little easier on the 5″ stiletto heel. Perfect.

Want to buy a pair? They’re $99, and you can click here to buy them from Bloomingdales.

Guess ‘Fedran’ red square toed high heeled pumps

Capture Guess Fedran red square toed high heeled pumpsI don’t normally go for square-toed shoes, but the fact that these ones by Guess remind me more of pointe ballet shoes, and less of Roald Dahl’s The Witches is a good sign. Another good sign is the red suede uppers, which are bright without being brash, as can often be the case with red shoes.

They’re not quite what I’m looking for in my Ruby Shoesday search, but they are cute, and reasonably affordable, too, at $109.95. Click here to buy them from Zappos.

Guess buckle detail platform sandals

guess buckle detail sandals Guess buckle detail platform sandalsI first spotted these shoes a couple of weeks ago, and wasn’t totally sure how I felt about them as they’re a little chunkier than I’d normally like. The more I look at them, however, the more I like them, and I’m sure the tan and beige colour combination has something to do with that: it’s the perfect choice for a wood-soled platform, and the shoes have a “resort wear” look about them that appeals to me.

These would be great with something like pale linen, or even denim, and they’re £194 at Far Fetch.

Guess ‘Bukala’ red suede peep toes with buckle

guess red peep toes Guess Bukala red suede peep toes with buckleYes, I’m obsessed with red shoes. No, I can’t seem to stop it. These ones are by Guess, and are $106.99. They do come in other colours but there’s something about red suede that says “winter” and “luxury” to me, and while the peep toe means these aren’t a traditional winter shoe, the ongoing trend for opaque tights with peep toes could work here – or you could save them for evening wear.

GUESS “Jhill” Zipper Platforms

At first I thought the “zipper” referred to in the title of this post was the one on the heel of these shoes, but then I looked closer and saw that there’s actually a zip on the platform too. Not a real one, though, I wouldn’t think, although it would be pretty cool if you could just unzip your platforms and then zip them back on again whenever you wanted to. (Hey! I wonder if anyone’s done that?)

For me this doesn’t really work, but I think that’s mostly because the long, pointed toe on these looks just a little bit dated right now. The zips are certainly up-to-the-minute, though, and the price isn’t too bad either: they’re $110.
