Giambattista Valli 120mm python and chain sandals

green and gold sandals Giambattista Valli 120mm python and chain sandals

Anyone else reminded of Gucci’s green and gold python sandals from last year? The resemblance probably isn’t strong enough to count as Shoe Deja Vu, because there are too many differences to list, but there are a good few similarities, too, namely the single gold strap across the toe, the green upper, and the use of python print.

Despite not being my favourite style of shoe (I don’t like my feet enough for the exposure strappy sandals give ‘em!), I liked the Guccis, and I like these too: the mint colour is always going to be a winner for me, and I’m also a fan of the thick ankle chain, which has a very “luxe” feel about it. (And which also isn’t my usual style, but I’ve been into gold recently, so let’s just go with it.)

These would be fabulous in summer with white shorts and a scarf-print top – and maybe a cocktail in one hand, too. They’re £919, though, so I guess I can just dream on…

Steve Madden ‘Intrude’ point toed court shoes

steve madden intrude Steve Madden Intrude point toed court shoes

I’ve spoken a lot over the course of the past year about my gradual conversion to pointed toes, and I feel that conversion is finally complete. I’m not abandoning the round and almond toes which have been my standard shoe-look for years now, and I’m not embracing all pointed toes (heaven forbid!), but I have found myself wearing the few pointed pairs in my collection a lot more often than I’d have anticipated lately, so I think they’re here to stay – for the time being, at least.

I put this conversion of mine (up until about a year ago, I didn’t even OWN any pointed toe shoes, and didn’t expect to, either!) down to two things:

    1. My ever-growing love of ankle cropped trousers.

I just never seem to tire of this style, and, on me, at least, I think a slightly longer toe works well with crops, creating a more elegant look.

    2. Shorter toes.

The pointed toes of the 90s were super-long, and super-thin: I still find that look very dated, and can’t imagine wanting to go back to it anytime soon, but the current crop of courts have shorter toes, like the ones shown above, which are far easier to wear, and don’t have the effect of elongating the foot in the same way.

All of which is a really long-winded way of saying that I really like Steve Madden’s ‘Intrude’ courts. Especially in the green, but you knew I was going to say that, didn’t you?

These are £89.95: click here to buy them at Zappos.

These shoes are definitely very “bridesmaidy”, and while I’m sure you could also find a use for them as a guest at a wedding, or to a posh evening event, even I would struggle to wear them on a daily basis.

Let’s just say you ARE a bridesmaid, though. (Have you ever been a bridesmaid? I have, but I was 5 at the time, so I kinda missed out on the excuse to buy pretty, impractical shoes…) Don’t you just love the jade satin uppers and the rhinestones on the toe?

I do. And I’d jump at the chance to wear them, if I could just find a good enough reason – and $245…

Pour la Victoire ‘Nasha’ green platform sandals

I know I’ve been writing a lot about mint lately, but the words “Kelly green” are like music to my ear, and it’s rare for me to find something in this colour and not want to at least take a closer look.

In the case of these Pour la Victoire sandals, looking is probably as close as I’d get, and not just because they’re already sold out in my size, or because they’re $250, but simply because they’re just a little bit chunkier than I like. This is a minor quibble, though: I have a feeling I might like them more on a foot, and the cork sole and heel is always a nice, summery addition to a shoe, so perhaps I could be persuaded after all!

If you could too, they’re available at Shopbop, they also come in taupe, and you can click here to buy them.

Shoe Kryptonite: Kurt Geiger ‘Class’ peep toe Mary Janes

First I saw these shoes in white:

And I thought, “Wow, that’s a seriously beautiful shoe. If only it wasn’t white, though! I mean, if these were available in green, say, or even blue, I’d be aaaaalllll over them like a rash…”

kurt geiger class mary janes Shoe Kryptonite: Kurt Geiger Class peep toe Mary Janes

    Oh.

Oh, God, someone please take them far, far away, because that right there is some Shoe Kryptonite for sure. I mean, they’re not just available in green and blue: they’re available in MINT green. And the PERFECT shade of blue. It’s just all too much for me.

Now, after all of the talking I’ve been doing about my ever-increasing love of mint green, you’ll be expecting me to say that’s the version I like best. I think you might be right there, but at the same time, that particular shade of sky blue is just gorgeous, and I could very easily be swayed by it. In fact, I could very easily be persuaded to buy both… assuming, of course, that it wouldn’t cost me £420 to do it.

Yes, folks, the bad news about these is that they’re £210 per pair, which means I’m about to start stalking Shoeaholics.com, in the hope that they one day go on sale. If you can’t wait that long, however, you can click here to buy them from Kurt Geiger.

Buffalo green polka dot platform sandals and red flats

There’s an obvious bit of Shoe Deja Vu going on here between these Buffalo sandals, and Miu Miu’s polka dot platforms from last summer: the bright green upper, the crossover front, the ankle strap and the platform. Nevertheless, they’re not identical: the Buffalo version adds a blue platform, and uses slimmer straps -there’s definitely no danger of them being mistaken for Miu Miu, but I’m rather taken with them all the same, as you can probably imagine. Well, green, polka dots, bright blue – it’s like they were made just to tempt me.

While we’re on the subject of polka dots, temptation, and Buffalo, here’s another pair from their summer collection which caught my eye:

red polka dot flats Buffalo green polka dot platform sandals and red flats

Although I’m not a huge fan of flat shoes, I always like to have at least one red pair in stock at any given time, and I wear them until they fall apart, red being one of my shoe “neutrals”. These ones are super-cute, and will add a touch of fun to even a dull pair of jeans…or shorts, or whatever else you want to wear them with.

You can  view these, and the rest of the Buffalo collection, at Spartoo.

    Office mint patent ‘Kourt’ shoes

OK, I give you all fair warning here: I am absolutely obsessed with mint right now. Obsessed. And yes, I know I’m more or less always obsessed with green, in all of its various guises, but it would seem that the fashion world is aiding and abetting me with the “mint” thing, because I’ve been seeing products in this shade everywhere lately: in fact, I bought a mint coloured dress just this week, and I have my eye on some more minty fresh pieces too. I may need an intervention.

Mint coloured shoes are also on my list, of course, and at the very top of that list is Office’s ‘Kourt’, which I have to point out is their deliberate spelling error, not mine. A standard shape and a beautiful colour make these almost irresistible to me, and I wouldn’t say no to the nude version either. Well, I rarely do, do I?

Want to join me in a world of minty goodness? Click here to buy these from Office, where they’re £65.
