I’m a bit of a sucker for shoes that fasten with ribbons, rather than with traditional laces. It’s such a simple touch (and a really easy way to give any pair of lace-ups a face-lift), but does make a difference, giving the shoe a slightly more feminine feel.
I’d point out that I’m also a bit of a sucker for the colour green, here, but I’m guessing my regular readers already know that, so I’ll simply note that these ‘Athena’ pumps by Carvela (£100) come in a particularly nice shade of green, and have a very Spring-like feel to them, although the fact that they have closed toes will allow you to get use out of them all the year round.
These shoes are available in no less than 11 different colours, so if you’re not keen on green, it’s well worth visiting the Nina website to see the rest of the range (I’m quite keen on the bright blue version, but every one’s a winner, to be honest). There are, of course, no prizes for guessing why I like these shoes: if I had to find fault with them, I’d probably say I could live without the ankle strap (I could almost always say that about ankle straps), but I could live with it, too, and it’s delicate enough not to draw too much attention to the ankle area.
So: gorgeous green colour, cute little bow, slender stiletto – what’s not to like? These are $92.95 and you can buy a pair here.
I allowed myself to look at Yoox.com again. I really shouldn’t have, because within a few minutes I’d stumbled upon these Miu Miu beauties, which are in my favourite colour, my favourite shape (well, one of them, anyway), and which aren’t TOO horrendously expensive at their sale price of £235.
Naturally, then, this means they’re only available in a UK size 6. Damn you, Yoox.com for raising my hopes, although I guess my bank manager (and Shoeperman) would probably want to thank you, too, for keeping temptation safely out of reach on this occasion.
If you are a lucky size 7, and have £235 you’ve been wondering what to do with, you can buy these here: all I ask is that you think of me sometimes when you wear them…
Another pair of not-exactly-low-but-not-exactly-high heels from River Island! Could it be that the era of the high platform and even higher heel is slowly starting to end? Well, I somehow doubt it, but we have been starting to see a few more lower-than-usual heels lately, which makes for a nice change.
These ones are £44.99, and I love the bright green colour, which was what originally caught my eye here. Closer inspection reveals a nice little triangular heel, and a big old brass buckle at the front. These are also available in black, and you can grab a pair at River Island.
Now, this is much more like the kind of thing I expect from Casadei than those white platforms I showed you last week!
Leaving aside the colour, which I’m obviously going to say I like, I also love the way the top half of this shoe looks just like a ribbon wound around the foot. It all makes for a very striking shoe, and if, like me, you love green, you’re probably going to love these too, in which case you’ll want to know where to buy them. Well, they’re 455 euros (ouch!), and you can grab yourself a pair here.
Well, I made it to January 7th before featuring a pair of Louboutins. I was aiming for longer than that, but seriously, can you blame me for wanting to show you these? They’re the Gressimo 140 pumps, and while the knotted design is fairly simple, and nothing we haven’t seen before, as always, Louboutin manages to take that simple style and make it that little bit better.
Naturally, I love everything about these, from the colour to the shape, and the only thing I DON’T like is the £580 price tag. These will look particularly stunning worn with a black dress, as show on the Net-a-Porter website: another one for the Wish List, methinks!
Well, no one could accuse Kate Spade of not getting into the Christmas spirit, could they?
As you know by now, I love bows and I love green, so technically, the combination of the two on the shoes at the far left of the image above should make me weak at the knees. Does it? Well, not so much, really. The bow in question looks just a little bit too much like gift-wrap to me, giving these the look of regular flats that someone’s stuck a bow on to give them as a gift. I do love the purple/pink and black/cream colour combinations, though (much more than the green, unusually enough), so maybe a slightly smaller bow would be all it would take to make me love them.
What do you think? Too much like “novelty shoes”, or perfect just the way they are?
Green is my favourite colour (”No!” I hear you say, sarcastically), so as soon as I laid eyes on these green platform court shoes from Dorothy Perkins, my mind started working overtime, trying to figure out how I could possibly justify ANOTHER pair of shoes this year.
Then I realised that actually, I have very little in my wardrobe that I’d actually wear with green shoes, and I was forced to conclude that these wouldn’t exactly be the most practical purchase ever, (Not that it’s stopped me before, obviously.) and so, with regret, I removed them from my basket, although not from my wish list.
If you feel you can give them a good home, they’re 338 at Dorothy Perkins.
