The arrival of Christian Louboutin’s Fall 2011 pre-collection onto the designer’s official website means that I was absolutely spoilt for choice choosing this week’s Louboutin Fix. I settled on the 8 Mignons platform sandals, not just because of the beautiful purple suede uppers, but because of the fabulous glitter effect at the very top of the platform sole:
I also love the crossover straps, the gold piping next to the purple suede and… just everything, really. Beautiful shoes, made for dancing in, lookout for them in stores soon!
Jenny probably looks pretty familiar to you. That’s because her shape is basically a re-working of the Greissimo pumps, which I’ve featured before, and which are one of my favourite Louboutin designs of all time. “Jenny” has only increased my love for this shape, and if I was able to own her, I don’t think I’d put her on my shelves, with all of the other shoes. I think I’d have to get Shoeperman to build an actual pedestal for her instead. It would be only fitting, wouldn’t it?
Of course, there’s the small matter of the $865 price tag to be resolved first, but if you want to put Jenny on a pedestal of your own, you can click here to buy her. Just make sure you treat her well.
These shoes want to go dancing. You can tell by the heel, can’t you? What’s more, they want to go dancing with ME. On my feet. And I want to let them, because seriously, who could resist these heels?
Not me, that’s for sure: and I say that as someone who doesn’t own any glitter-covered shoes at the moment, and didn’t think this Tuesday was the day she’d suddenly start coveting a pair.
Resist them I will, however, if only because I’ve bought one pair of “schuhs” already this month, and I just can’t justify any more. There’s always next month, though…
I told myself I’d try to go easy on the ol’ glitter-covered shoes for a few days at least, but it would appear that glitter is a hard habit to break, and so it is that I find myself drooling over these ‘Charm’ slingbacks, by Kate Spade.
I think these are a particularly pretty example of the glitter look, and they make me wish I had a more glamorous life, and actually had a need for them. Then again, I’ve always been a firm believer in the idea that even the most OTT shoe can be dressed down with a pair of jeans, so there is still hope. There’s just not $325, unfortunately, which means I’m not going to be able to put my theory to the test in this particular case.
Gone are the days when wedge heels were most often attached to casual, summery shoes. These ones by Kurt Geiger, for instance, most definitely want to party, and while the shoe they’re attached to is very evening-appropriate, in a champagne satin, it’s the heels themselves that are going to be getting all the attention.
It’s worth visiting the Kurt Geiger website and using the “zoom” function to get the full effect of these shoes. They’ve taken a sound beating from the glitter stick (which is a bit like a disco stick, only shinier), and have emerged looking extra special as a result. For me, they’re still the kind of shoes I’d need to see on a foot, because I’m not sure how huge my feet might look with all that glitter attached to them, but if you’re only interested in seeing them on your feet, and the sooner the better, I invite you to click here – you can buy them at Kurt Geiger for £160.
Glitter: it never goes away, does it? This time it’s been added to a pair of sandals by He Can Can Do No Very Little Wrong, Nicholas Kirkwood, and the contrast between matt-black heel and glitter upper makes it a little less in-your-face than some glitter shoes. Mind you, I’ve been rather obsessed with all that glitters recently, so I’m very easily swayed by the sparkly stuff at the moment. If you are too, these are £595 and you can click here to buy them from Harvey Nichols.
Yup, it’s yet another pair of glitter-encrusted Miu Mius, but these ones do at least come with a little bit of a difference, because unlike their shimmery sisters, these don’t have a massive heel/platform. That’s not to say they have a low heel, mind you: nope, it’s 3.5 inches, but there’s no platform, so these look a lot lower to my platform-jaded eyes. They also have a ribbon-tie front closure and zips at the back of the heel to make them a little easier to get on and off. Oh, and a £355 price tag, of course: mustn’t forget that.
I’ve been trying to stay away from the Kurt Geiger website recently, lest I fall into further temptation, but I ventured there today and happened upon these ‘Memphis’ bow slingbacks, which have a “daytime” look (black suede, fabric bow) and a “nighttime” one (gold glitter). Of course, you could wear either of them any time you like, but I’d be hard-pushed to choose between the two: I’m always drawn to black and cream combos, but the glittery gold is just so pretty, too!
These are £75 and you can click here to buy a pair from Kurt Geiger. Which ones would you go for?
