Topshop Jamaica curve heel glitter toecap shoes

Miu Miu released a high heeled version of this shoe earlier this year, which I absolutely loved. Sadly, I can’t afford Miu Miu’s prices, so these Topshop pumps could make for a more affordable stand-in. These have a slightly curved heel, which is also very “Miu Miu”: my one problem with them is the height of it. While I know pretty, mid-heeled courts are hard to find, and those of you who love them are probably jumping for joy at the sight of these, I can’t help wishing they’d gone for a higher-heel – although, then again, if they had, the temptation may have been too strong for me, so perhaps it’s a good thing that they stuck with something more sensible!

Ted Baker ‘Fleur’ glitter bow court shoes

Be still, my heart.

I was just starting to feel bad about the fact that the approaching winter will soon stop me wearing my beloved Ted Baker Keanah peep toes, when along comes this closed-toe version, featuring the same, outsized bow.

It’s the shape of the bow I really love here:

The rounded, stylized shape gives the shoes a very whimsical feel, and looks even better in real life (I think) than it does in pictures: it’s perfect for a party shoe, and the glitter upper makes these even more appropriate for an evening out. I’d love them even more in another choice of material, as, despite my recent glitter shoe purchase, I’m still not sure the sparkly look is quite “me”.

These are absolutely gorgeous, though, and they’re also rather nice in the black version, too. They’re £95, and you can click here to buy them from Ted Baker.

Shoeperwoman Shops Shoeaholics: KG by Kurt Geiger red glitter ‘Jasmine’ pumps

Well, here they are: my first – but definitely not my last – order from the Shoeaholics site I told you about on Friday: Kurt Geiger’s ‘Jasmine’ court shoes:

I’d had my eye on these ever since they were released last year, but felt that the original, £100 price tag was a little too high for shoes I’d probably get a limited amount of wear out of, so I waited patiently for the sale. When the sale came, however, I continued to resist the lure of the Dorothy shoes, and I resisted valiantly… right up until the moment they sold out in my size, which was, of course, the exact same moment that I decided I really wanted to buy them.

When I saw them on Shoeaholics for just £29, then, I knew it was now or never, so I hit the “order” button and sat back to wait.

I didn’t have to wait very long, as it happens: I got a dispatch notification within an hour of placing my order, and, having made the purchase on Friday morning, the shoes arrived at 8am the following Monday – so far, so good for Shoeaholics.

But what did they look like?

Well, as I mentioned on Friday, many of the shoes on this site are ex-display, and the product description on the Jasmine courts stated that I should expect some cosmetic damage. I should probably note here that glitter-covered shoes aren’t really the fairest test for this site, because I would imagine they’d be more prone to damage than most other fabrics.  Realising this, I’d been prepared for the worst. Here’s what I got.

There’s some noticeable damage to the edges of the bow on both shoes: you can see from the photos below that the glitter has come off at the seam, leaving the white fabric visible underneath. Having examined the shoes closely, though, this is the only issue I can find: there’s absolutely no sign of wear on the soles, and the glitter coating is thick and even over the rest of the shoe.  Only one shoe has damage to the bow, and from the perfect condition of both the sole and insole, I’d guess it’s probably come from the shoe lying on its side in the box, rather than from people trying it on.

As far as the glitter loss goes, well, it’s noticeable when you take the shoes out of the box and hold them in your hands, but you do have to be fairly close to see it: I don’t think anyone would notice it when they’re actually being worn, for instance. I also suspect it would be easily repaired with a purchase of some red glitter and a glue gun – or I could simply use red ink to colour the white line where the glitter has come off, making it less noticeable.

Overall, I think the shoes were fairly priced given their condition. If I’d paid £100 for them, I’d obviously have been disappointed, but they were marked down to £29, what little damage there is will be easily repairable, and the cosmetic damage was clearly stated in the product description, so I think I got a good deal, all things considered.

Will I be keeping them? The jury’s still out on that one at the moment. I love the shoes, and I’m not at all put off by the missing glitter, but as fabulous as they are, I’m still wondering when I’ll ever get an opportunity to wear them, and if the black version might be a better option. One thing I do know, however, is that I’ll definitely be using Shoeaholics again: probably far too often for my own good!

Badgley Mischka ‘Humbie’ Glitter Pumps in gold and silver

I was really excited to see that one of my favourite shoe brands, Badgley Mishka, is now available on Shopbop.com: I’ve been stalking the brand for a long time now, and was sorely tempted by a pair of black court shoes I tried on in L.A, and which are doomed to be one of those Shoe Regrets, I fear. But I digress…

These ‘Humbie’ pumps are actually a slightly simpler style than we’re used to seeing from this brand, which is best known for its party-appropriate and evening shoes (this is why I don’t currently own a pair, but I guess I could always apply my philosophy of wearing fancy shoes with a pair of jeans: nothing to stop me, after all!). These would definitely fit into either of those categories, with their glittery uppers, which are available in either silver or gold.

I’d probably go for the gold version, which would work better with my skin tone (I’m fond of using gold almost as a “nude” when it comes to shoes),  but they’re both very pretty, and the kind of shoe you’d keep around for years to come, and be able to bring out for any special occasion.

These are $200: click here to buy them from Shopbop.

Giuseppe Zanotti green glitter toe cap ballet flats

giuseppe zanotti green ballet flats Giuseppe Zanotti green glitter toe cap ballet flatsGiuseppe Zanotti is best known for his stiletto heels, but he does make other types of shoes, too, from time to time, including that old classic, the toe-cap ballet flat. If you were expecting Zanottis ballet flats to be as classic and – let’s just say it – boring as the rest of the genre (or most of it, anyway), you can think again. Well, it wouldn’t be like Zanotti to make an ordinary shoe, now, would it?

Nope, these have been doused in a huge dose of emerald green glitter, and then dipped in the gold version of the stuff for good measure. The effect is oddly Christmassy for me: I know I’ve talked a lot about green and gold, and my enduring love for that particular colour combination, but I think this is a little bit too much, even for me. For some reason, I’m imagining Santa’s (female) elves wearing these. Is that just me?

As I’ve also mentioned once or twice or a thousand-and-eleven times, I refuse to pay more than around £20 for ballet flats (and normally much less than that, if the truth be told), so the thought of paying £300 for these ones makes me feel almost as green as they are. If that sounds just fine to you, however, you can click here to buy them direct from the designer.

Oasis ‘Anella’ gold glitter ballet flats

Oh heels, glitter can look a little bit over the top, if you’re not careful. (Although it can also look fabulous, depending on the shoe.) On a pair of flats, however, it can be a great way to make what can be a rather boring style look a whole lot more interesting, and Oasis have added to that effect on these ‘Anella’ flats by adding a tulle corsage to the toe. The result is a very pretty flat which would be great for special occasions, but could look just a good with a simple pair of jeans.

Gold glitter bow court shoes from Dorothy Perkins

I know glitter-covered shoes are becoming an increasingly common sight, both on the pages of this blog, and in real life, but there’s always room for one more pair, as far as I’m concerned, which is why I decided to kick off Monday morning with these shiny gold peep toes from Dorothy Perkins.

These are much more ‘Friday night’ than ‘Monday morning’, but hey, whatever gets you through the working week, right?

Silver glitter court shoes from Zara

It’s been, ooh, at least a week since I last showed you a pair of glitter shoes, so here’s a pair of pointy (yes, pointy: I know you hate them, but they’re back with a vengeance, so I’m wondering if we’ll all go through that process of getting used to them again, until we’ve come full-circle and are back to finding the pointy toes completely normal again?) toed ones from Zara.

Now, these shoes have taken a really serious beating from the glitter stick, which I think makes them look just a little “costume party”-esque. Still, they’ve very shiny, and that may well appeal to the magpies amongst you.

Does it, though? Click here if you answered “yes” - these are £69.99 at Zara.
