Rupert Sanderson double buckle gladiator sandals

rupert sanderson gladiator Rupert Sanderson double buckle gladiator sandalsThis is the second pair of black and gold shoes I’ve featured here today, but I hope you’ll forgive me for that once you’ve had the chance to gaze upon the loveliness of these Rupert Sanderson sandals.

These don’t look particularly “gladiator-like” to me, but I’m not going to quibble over the name when there are beautiful shoes to be looked at, and anyway, if ALL gladiator sandals were as gorgeous as these ones, I’d be a very happy Shoeperwoman. Of course, the combination of black and gold on a shoe has always been one of my favourites, but these are particularly nicely done, and are dressy without being fussy. The strong lines of these, plus that shiny gold, would make these perfect with a simple dress: they’re £693 at Louisa Via Roma.

Celebrity Shoes: Lindsay Lohan in knee-high flat gladiator/cut-out boots

fp 3260673 lohan lindsay ak Celebrity Shoes: Lindsay Lohan in knee high flat gladiator/cut out bootsI’ve described these as “knee high gladiator sandals”, but I’m not AT ALL sure that’s what they actually are, because they don’t really look “gladiatorial”, do they? So maybe they’re just strange, cut-out knee-high peep toe boots – a key-word combination that should never really happen in my book.

I have the kind of pale skin that tends to take on the imprint of anythng that rests against it for too long (you know, sock lines, etc), so I wouldn’t wear these even if they were my style, which they’re very obviously not. They are Lindsay Lohan’s style, though, and they may be yours too. Are they?

Studded high heel gladiator sandals from River Island

high heeled gladiator sanda Studded high heel gladiator sandals from River Island

It’s taken me a really long time to get into the gladiator trend, and by that I mean “I don’t actually own a single pair of shoes that could be even remotely described as ‘gladiatorial’”. And I don’t really know why this is, exactly, because, with the exception of the ones that go all the way up the leg , I love me some glads. Especially if, like these ones from River Island, they have gigantic heels on them. Yes.

These are new in at River Island today, and are £59.99. I can’t quite decide whether I like the black or the tan best, so if anyone’s offering, I’ll just take both, thanks.

Shoe Deja Vu: ASOS Vs Anna Sui studded calf-length gladiator sandals

high leg gladiator sandals Shoe Deja Vu: ASOS Vs Anna Sui studded calf length gladiator sandals

Now, before you all go thinking I done lost my mind over here, let me just assure you that this edition of Shoe Deja Vu does not feature shoes that are likely to grace the Shoeper Shoe Closet anytime soon. Oh, hell to the no. You see, as much as I’ve come to love high heeled gladiator sandals, and even to quite like the low-sided flat versions, this particular style just leaves me cold. Freezing, in fact.

But the fact remains: there are lots and lots of high-leg gladiator sandals around at the moment, so presumably someone must be buying them. (Who is it? Is it you?) And for the benefit of those “someones”, here are Anna Sui’s studded gladiator sandals (£420 at Net-a-Porter) and ASOS’s matching pair (£60). They’re not exactly the same, of course, and I don’t think anyone would be hard-pressed to spot which is the designer and which is the high street version, but teh style is similar enough that anyone interested in getting the Anna Sui look on a budget may be  interested.

(Not me, though. )
