Blue suede pointed toe wedges by Giuseppe Zanotti

blue suede wedge shoes Blue suede pointed toe wedges by Giuseppe Zanotti

I love blue suede shoes (Just call me Elvis.)

    I love wedges.

    I love Giuseppe Zanotti.

There was never any possibility of me NOT loving these blue suede Giuseppe Zanotti wedges, was there?

Now, I know what you’ll all say. “But Shoeperwoman!” you’ll cry, “They have pointed toes! And we don’t like pointed toes!”

I know. And honestly, I’d prefer them to be just a little less pointed myself. Look on the bright side, though: this is the first pair of wedges I’ve shown you in months that don’t have a gigantic platform sole attached to them. That has to be worth something, right?

Is it worth $650, dollars, though? I’m pretty sure I know what you’ll have to say about that, too, but just in case I’m wrong, you can click here to buy yourself a pair from Shopbop.

Those super-high Giuseppe Zanotti wedges have definitely become a celebrity favourite, in all of their various incarnations: I keep coming across more and more photos of different people wearing them, and every time I do, I have to stop for a moment just to admire them once more. It’s been a while now, but I still love the shape of that heel!

The latest celebrity to slip on a pair of these Zanottis is Kim Kardashian, who wore the black satin ankle-strap version while out and about in Los Angeles yesterday:

Giuseppe Zanotti green glitter toe cap ballet flats

    by
    2

giuseppe zanotti green ballet flats Giuseppe Zanotti green glitter toe cap ballet flatsGiuseppe Zanotti is best known for his stiletto heels, but he does make other types of shoes, too, from time to time, including that old classic, the toe-cap ballet flat. If you were expecting Zanottis ballet flats to be as classic and – let’s just say it – boring as the rest of the genre (or most of it, anyway), you can think again. Well, it wouldn’t be like Zanotti to make an ordinary shoe, now, would it?

Nope, these have been doused in a huge dose of emerald green glitter, and then dipped in the gold version of the stuff for good measure. The effect is oddly Christmassy for me: I know I’ve talked a lot about green and gold, and my enduring love for that particular colour combination, but I think this is a little bit too much, even for me. For some reason, I’m imagining Santa’s (female) elves wearing these. Is that just me?

As I’ve also mentioned once or twice or a thousand-and-eleven times, I refuse to pay more than around £20 for ballet flats (and normally much less than that, if the truth be told), so the thought of paying £300 for these ones makes me feel almost as green as they are. If that sounds just fine to you, however, you can click here to buy them direct from the designer.

Sale Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti black bow court shoes

giuseppe zanotto black bow court shoes Sale Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti black bow court shoesWhen I feature Giuseppe Zanotti here, it tends to be for some weird and wonderful design, so I thought today I’d show you one of the designer’s simpler styles, in the shape of these wonderful black court shoes.

Black pumps are actually quite difficult to get right. You’d think by virtue of the fact that they’re one of  the most commonly seen styles, they’d also be one of the easiest, but nope: it’s the very simplicity of this style that can make it difficult, because if you’re not careful, the black pump can end up just being dull.

I don’t think these ones are dull:

Giuseppe Zanotti patent leather peep toe Mary Jane pumps

This is what all Mary Janes should look like.

Well, OK, maybe not ALL of them. We’d still need some bright red ones, obviously. And maybe some purple ones. Oh, and nude. And gold. And to be perfectly honest with you, I wouldn’t even describe these as “Mary Janes”, really. But still. They’re gorgeous, aren’t they? And not only that, but gorgeous in that simple, understated way that means you’d be able to wear them until they fell apart. It’s a good thing, too, because at £416, I know I’d definitely want to get my money’s worth.

You know, I can almost hear your gasps of horror from here…

These shoes are one of those styles that “fashionistas” love right now, but which those of us who aren’t really interested in following fashion, per se, and who just love beautiful shoes, will probably be less keen on. The chunky shape, high platform and tan uppers are all very typical of this summer’s footwear trends, which seek to draw attention to the shoes, by making them look as if the whole thing has been carved out of a single block of wood.

I must admit, I rather like the look… but only on other people, because it’s something I know I couldn’t pull off myself.

What does everyone else think of these, and of the trend for chunky shoes in general?

(These are by Giuseppe Zanotti, and are $750 at Shopbop – click here to buy them.)

Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Henry’ leather and metal T-bar sandals

    by
    7

giuseppe zanotti henry sandals Giuseppe Zanotti Henry leather and metal T bar sandals

Readers, meet “Henry”. Henry, readers; readers, Henry. I love it when designers give their shoes human names. It helps give them even more personality than they have already (and also makes it even harder for me to want to part with them when the time comes. I have a tendency to anthropomorphise my shoes, though. It’s probably not healthy.).

As you can see, our Henry is rather handsome. He has leather uppers topped with mirror-shine metal inserts, and he manages to look both classic and a little bit futuristic at the same time.

OK, I’ll stop referring to the shoes as “he” now. Or I’ll try, anyway.

These are by Giuseppe Zanotti, and they’re $895 at Shopbop and Net-a-Porter.
