Shoe Kryptonite: Gina’s amazing polka dot shoe collection for Spring/Summer 2012

“I’m going to try not to blog about polka dot shoes this week,” I told myself. “I know there are hundreds of them around right now, and I can’t seem to look at a shoe website without literally seeing spots, but I have to draw the line somewhere, or my blog will be completely taken over by the things.”

Then I saw these:

“Well, maybe I’ll just write about this one pair,” I thought. “After all, they’re AMAZING, and they’re so Shoeperwoman: I don’t think anyone will blame me. I’ll just show this one pair.”

“And, OK, this OTHER pair. But that’s it! And, I mean, it’s not like I’m showing them, like, EIGHT PAIRS or something, all at the same time!”

OH GOD. SOMEONE MAKE IT STOP.

Seriously, I’m crying here, people. CRYING. And, of course, being Gina, these are all way out of my price range, which is probably a good thing, because I’ve already started entertaining a little daydream in which I build a second set of shoe shelves, and fill them with these shoes. Yes, all of them. (But especially the very first pair I showed you…)

It’s going to be a very expensive summer, readers.

If you think you can resist the temptation, these are all available at the Gina website.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 69: Very Vintage

What: Vintage Gina court shoes (thrifted)
When: Friday, January 14, 2011
Where Date night
With: Black ASOS dress

For Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 69, I present my vintage Gina court shoes, which I picked up in a thrift store a few years ago for all of £1.50. Yes, they’re completely 80s-tastic, but since they’re actually from the 80s, I think I can forgive them for it. Did I mention they were £1.50?

(This is the great things about thrift stores: they’ll mark a pair of Calvin Klein “mom” jeans up, because they recognise the label as being “designer”, but a brand like Gina will go unnoticed, because the staff have never heard of it: score for shoe fans!)

Gina ‘Clair’ platform hoodie pumps

gina hoodie pumps Gina Clair platform hoodie pumpsJust before we go any further here, I want to make it clear that “hoodie pump” isn’t my name for these shoes, it’s how Gina themselves have decided to describe them. It IS rather apt, though, because the gathered front on these does look a little bit like a hood of sorts, doesn’t it?

I’m in two minds about these shoes. In the black and cream versions, I think the gathered toe makes the shoe look like it’s been wrapped up in some kind of protective dust-cover, which the owner hasn’t bothered to remove before wearing them. The red version, however… well, the red version I rather like, and I somehow think it works a little better.

What do you think? These are £450 from Gina.

Gina ‘Belle’ Swarovski crystal wedge peep toes

Leave it to Gina to add a big old dollop of Swarovski crystals to the humble wedge! Of course, there’s really nothing “humble” about these wedges at all, is there?  With crystals all over the heel and sole, it’s a good job the uppers are super-plain, or it would be all too easy for these shoes to be mistaken for some kind of disco ball. As it is, they’re the kind of evening shoes you’d wear if you wanted people to stare at your feet, rather than your face all night (handy if you got a huge spot on the day of the party, I guess!). Oh, and the kind of shoes you’d wear if you were willing to spend £875 on them.

Are you? Get them here if you are.
