    Gianvito Rossi slingbacks, 780 euros

Now that I’ve been fully won-over by transparent shoes, they seem to be popping up everywhere, and each pair I find is even more gorgeous than the last. Trust me, I’m as surprised as you probably are to be typing that sentence about plastic shoes, of all things.

These ones are by Gianvito Rossi, and have a similar style to some of the lucite Louboutins I’ve shown you lately, with a mostly clear upper surrounded by thin bands of crystals, to create a “barely there” look on the foot. I’ve said it before about this style of shoe, but they really are fairytale heels as far as I’m concerned, and would make me feel every inch the modern-day Cinderella. These slippers may not be glass, exactly, but glass slippers never sounded particularly comfortable to me anyway, and I think I’d much rather have shoes I could actually WEAR!

As for where you’d wear them, exactly, well, the sparkling gems on the heels and straps makes them very much an evening shoe, but My Theresa have actually shown them styled with a fairly casual outfit, and, of course, the fact that they’re transparent means they will work with literally everything. I think it would be great fun to wear shoes like this all the time, just to see the reactions you’d get, but for 780 euros, you may well prefer to save them for a very special occasion. Whatever you wear them with, though, at least you’ll know your feet are well dressed!

  2. Gianvito Rossi red peep toes with white ankle strap

red peep toe shoes with white ankle strap

Gianvito Rossi red peep toes with white ankle strap, £472

I like the shape of these Gianvito Rossi peep toes so much I’m showing you them twice. Last time you saw them, they were in mint and blue suede, and I was declaring them to be Shoe Kryptonite. This time around, well, they’re not quite Kryptonite, but the different upper had me momentarily convinced they were a completely different style, and that’s all the justification I need to feature this gorgeously curvy shape once again.

As well as exchanging pastel suede for bright red leather, these shoes also have another difference, in the form of the contrasting white ankle strap. This is actually quite an unusual one: because the heel of the shoe is so high, the strap wraps around both your ankle and the back of the shoe itself, as opposed to simply wrapping around the wearer’s ankle, as most straps do. I’d be interested to know what these look like on, and whether they’re any more comfortable than a regular ankle strap (I can’t be the only one who finds them one of the least comfortable shoe features out there, can I?), but for now I do like the way they look, at least. What do you think?

  3. Shoe Kryptonite: Gianvito Rossi mint and blue suede peep toes

Gianvito Rossi mint and blue suede peep toes

Gianvito Rossi mint and blue suede peep toes, £422.86

You know, I’ve spoken a lot here about how mint is one of my favourite shoe colours (and goodness knows, I’ve had more than enough opportunities to indulge that love over the past year), but I think this might be the year that sky blue overtakes it. I’ve been a little bit obsessed with this shade lately: for me, it’s the shade of spring and summer, and there’s something fresh and lovely about it that makes me guaranteed to at least give it a second look any time I come across it.

These particular shoes, however, warranted much more than just one look, and it’s not just the delectable colour choices that done it. No, there’s also that deep, curvy side, topped by the dramatic, high heel. This shape always gives a shoe a very vintage look, I think. It’s something ALDO do fairly often, and I’ve always found it to be a very elegant alternative to the standard peep toe. These Gianvito Rossi peep toes have elegance in abundance, and also have a very dainty feel, thanks to that sexy, low-cut side.

Sadly, there’s no point in me speculating over which colour I’d buy, because it’s just not going to happen, so I’ll ask you instead: mint or blue?

  4. Gianvito Rossi pink toecap pumps

Gianvito Rossi pink toecap pumps, 475 euros

I’ve had these shoes on my “to be blogged” list for ages now, but have so far resisted showing you them, because I’m well aware I’ve been going a little overboard with the toecap pumps lately. But what the hell: it’s Friday, it’s almost the holidays, and these are one of the prettiest pairs of shoes I’ve seen in a long time, in all of their baby pink, silver toed glory, so here they are.

These shoes are almost as nice from the back as they are from the front, too: I’m not generally keen on metal-tipped heels, but I think they work perfectly here, don’t you?

    Emily Blunt

You can certainly see why these were named “Tuxedo”, can’t you? They’re all dressed up and ready for action in their cute little bow tie and tuxedo jacket: aww!

These are from the Gianvito Rossi SS 2012 collection, and were worn by Emily Blunt to the premiere of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen earlier this week: I love her dress, but I love the shoes even more!

These aren’t currently available to buy online, but you can click here to find stockist information on the brand’s website. I wouldn’t expect them to be cheap, though…
