So typical of the brand that loves bows and flowers almost as much as I do! As much as this may surprise some of you to know, I actually really like the classic biker boot – and I prefer it when it doesn’t come with accessories. If you think flowers give these ones that extra little something, though, they’re $1,485 and you can buy them at Saks. Most wanted from our sponsors‘Pearl’ suede and lace ankle boots from TopshopThese ‘Pearl’ ankle boots from Topshop aren’t the kind of thing I’d usually go for, but I just can’t help loving them. The combination of the lace ankle insert and floral ankle embellishment is just so pretty, and the colour also gives these a bit of a vintage feel, although the shape is very modern. The one thing I’m not convinced by is the drawstring around the ankle, which I feel might make these look like very beautiful sacks tied around the legs, but I’d definitely be willing to try them on to find out. Want to try them too? They’re £100 at Topshop.

‘Rosa’ flower-trimmed high sandals from TopshopI seem to be having a “flower-trimmed sandal” kinda day here, so what the hell, I’m going to just go with it… I’ve already shown you one pair of flower-bedecked shoes, from Miss Selfridge, so here’s another pair, this time from Miss S’s Arcadia stablemate, Topshop. Topshop are really good at making “statement shoes”, and I think these fall into that category, with their 5″ heels, strappy uppers and tulle flower embellishments. The big problem with these, of course, will be that heel: even for a seasoned stiletto-wearer, five inches really needs a substantial platform to be walkable in, and these don’t have them, making them true “car to bar” shoes. If you can manage to walk in them, however, they’d make fabulous shoes for a party, or a wedding, say, with the colour working with anything you’d like to wear it with. Feel like giving them a go? They’re £70 at Topshop.

Red velvet floral high sandals from Miss SelfridgeYou know what? I absolutely LOVE Miss Selfridge at the moment. I realise this is hardly going to be breaking news for anyone who’s been reading this site regularly, and I also realise that the particular shoes pictured above will be a little too much for many of you, but still: for my money, Miss S is currently one of the best stores on the UK high street when it comes to my two very favourite fashion things – shoes and dresses. I could spend an absolute fortune there on those two items alone, but add in the cute knitwear and vintage-inspired pieces, and it’s basically shopping kryptonite, at a reasonably affordable price-point. Over the past couple of years, Miss S has definitely becoming a little more experimental with footwear: the exaggerated bow platforms I’ve had my eye on for a while now are unlike anything else you’ll find on the high street, and I think these red velvet heels are pretty stand-out too, for all they’re basically a variation of the flower-fronted sandal we see so much of. The bright red colour and oversized flowers both contribute to that, giving these a very exaggerated look which may or may not look good on an actual foot. I’d love to try them on to find out: if you would, too, they’re £50 from Miss Selfridge. Kelsi Dagger brown ‘Belize’ sandals with flower embellishmentsI’d probably have liked these Kelsi Dagger shoes regardless of the colour they happened to be – as regular readers will know, I’m a bit of a sucker for shoes with big old flowers on the front of them! – but I think this brown and cream mix was a particularly nice choice. The muted colours help stop the shoes looking too saccharine, and is very wearable, but the flowers keep the cute factor high. These are $135 from Piperlime. Poetic Licence ‘Holiday Delight’ peep toes
Somewhat extravagant on the flower front, but still pretty for all that, these Poetic Licence peep toes are $133 at Zappos, and available in the three colours shown above. Once again, I’d find it hard to choose between these: the shimmery blue version would be great for a party, while the red suede would make a lovely day shoe, worn with opaque tights. Overall, though, I think its the black sequined version that gets my vote: totally glam, but not too over the top, they’re definitely worth viewing in close-up, so they can be properly appreciated! |
