Now, we all know Blair Waldorf wouldn’t be seen dead in a pair of rubber flip-flops (especially not in the middle of Manhattan!), but Leighton Meester and Blake Lively have no such qualms: here they are giving their feet a break from heels during a filming break on the Gossip Girl set, before slipping back into their shoes when the cameras start to roll.

Outfit shot under the jump: I love Serena’s blue shoes in this picture!

Pewter jewel thong sandals from Dorothy Perkins

pewter thong sandals Pewter jewel thong sandals from Dorothy Perkins

With my upcoming holiday now less than two weeks away, I’m finding myself drawn to flat sandals and flip-flops more than my usual high heels these days. These pewter thong sandals from Dorothy Perkins check all of the boxes as a holiday shoe for me:

  • They’re flat. I’m more than used to walking in heels, but on vacation I tend to do a lot more walking than I do in my normal life, so flats are always good.  And heels and shorts aren’t always the best look, anyway.
  •  They’re still dressy enough to be worn in the evenings with skirts and dresses with the little “jewels” on the front dressing them up nicely.
  • They’re metallic, so they’ll go with everything in my suitcase.

Oh, and they’re only £20. And hey, I’ll be near a Dorthy Perkins tomorrow, how about that? If you won’t be, but you still want to pick up a pair of these, you can buy them on the website, here.

Wonder Woman flip flops by Havaianas

pl660358 00vliv01 Wonder Woman flip flops by Havaianas Oh, honestly! That Wonder Woman is going to be the death of me. Seriously, who does she think she is, going around having her face on shoes? It is I, Shoeperwoman, who should be depicted on shoes! Some Superheroes just have no manners…

If, however, you’re a fan of my arch rival, these are by Havaianas, and you can buy them for $35 from Piperlime. I promise I won’t hold it against you. Much.

Shoeperwoman tries on: Fit Flops – the flip flops that tone and shape your legs

fit flops Shoeperwoman tries on: Fit Flops the flip flops that tone and shape your legs

I’ve been intrigued by the idea of Fit Flops for a long time now, so when the lovely people at Fitness Footwear offered to send me some to try, I obviously jumped at the chance.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the brand, these are flip flops – but not as we know them. Fit Flops, you see, are specially designed to tone up your legs, just by walking around in them normally. They do this using their patent-pending “microwobbleboard” technology (isn’t that a great name?) which basically forces you to engage your leg muscles much more than you would in a pair of normal shoes. With regular use, you should see an improvement in muscle tone, and because the foot bed is also designed to help mimic the action of walking barefoot, they’re also more comfortable to walk in, and better for your feet, which means they can be helpful for people with foot problems.

The shoes come in various styles but, me being me, I naturally went for the most ostentatious one I could find, which was the “Electra” model in gold, which you can see above. You may be exercising, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be glamorous at the same time. Well, that’s my motto, anyway.
