I was gutted when Faith went into administration last year, so it’s good to see the brand lives on, albeit in a reduced form, through the concessions in Debenhams, which is where I found these ‘Candy’ court shoes. These have that very dapper look about them that a toe-cap shoe always seems to create, and while I’m always a sucker for black (or in this case, pale pink) and white, I also really like the coral version of these too, which offers a slightly more unusual take on the toe-cap trend, and has me thinking of summer. (Not that I’m not always thinking of summer, you understand…)
I was so excited to find these shoes online: my local TK Maxx has had a few pairs of these the last couple of times I’ve been in there, and I think they’re much nicer in real life than they look in this photo (and I’d say more of a coral colour than an orange, too). Of course, TK Maxx didn’t have them in my size, or they’d definitely have been coming home with me: Debenhams, on the other hand, still have them in everything except a size 9, although at £26, they’re a little more expensive than the ones in TK Maxx, which I think were £20, although I could well be mistaken about that.
Like them? Click here to buy them at Debenhams (or take your chances and check out TK Maxx!).
Faith shoes announced this afternoon that the company has gone into administration: the above message is currently displayed on the website, although as you can see, branches and concessions will still be trading as normal for the time being.
This is really sad news for shoe lovers: Faith have been a stalwart of the UK high street for a long time now and are the first port of call for many a woman in need of a great pair of party shoes. I’m really hoping the brand can be saved – Shoewawa is reporting that Debenhams may be poised to step in and buy them out – but if they do cease to trade, they will be very sadly missed.
Of course, if you really want to save Faith, I guess a good way to give the brand a boost would be to head out this weekend and buy some of their shoes. Anyone with me?
I was sure I’d already shown you these shoes, but I haven’t: it’s just that we’ve seen so many of these “multiple bow” styles recently that they’ve all started to blend into one another a little bit. That’s presumably a sign that this style is popular at the moment, though, so what do you think of these? They have suede uppers, three bows at the front, and if you’re not a lover of hot pink, they also come in taupe.
Although I tend not to go for shoes with more than one embellishment (I’m a ‘less is more’ kinda girl in that respect), I do think these could be lots of fun, and an easy way to brighten up a dull day or outfit. If you agree, you can buy yourself a pair at Faith, where they’re £60.
This is my second pink shoe pick of the day, but these ‘Lorna’ sandals from Faith are a little less vivid than the Tory Burch numbers I showed you earlier today – in fact, in the right light, they could almost pass as nude. That’s good news in the “will go with anything” stakes, and actually, I think these shoes are good news all round: I’m loving t-bar styles in general at the moment, and these combine a t-bar shape with satin uppers, a generous platform and a pretty little diamante detail on the toe.
These are also available in grey, with a black platform, but I think this pale pink is the nicer of the two colours. If you want to see for yourself, they’re £65 from Faith.
Up until a few years ago, it used to be the case that most evening shoes were delicate, strappy creations, that could barely be seen on the foot. Those styles still have their place, of course (they’re fantastic if you’re wearing a statement dress, and don’t want to detract attention from it with your shoes), but they do start to blend into one another after a while, so I’ve started to lean towards chunkier shoes, like these ones from Faith, when it comes to evening wear.
Although these will cover quite a bit of the foot, they’re still very glamorous: for some reason I keep picturing them worn with a white, Marilyn Monroe-style halter-neckdress, but the pewter colour will work with almost anything, and although they’re great to look at in their own right, they won’t steal too much attention away from whatever else you’re wearing, either.
Along with bows and hearts and jewels and, oh, all kinds of other things, I’m quite partial to a big ol’ knot on the front of a shoe. I know that sounds like a strange thing to be a fan of, but when you look at these knot-front suede court shoes from Faith, maybe you’ll see what I mean.
Orange is this season’s hot colour right now (no pun intended), but as much as I love the shoe on the left of this photo, I also really like the black version on the right, which would make an elegant pump for work, or for anything you want to look a little bit “smart” for. Lovely.
This is about the fourth pair of orange shoes I’ve spotted in the past week alone, which makes me think orange is probably going to be a big colour for this summer. I’ve surprised myself by liking almost all of them so far, but these ‘Lucy’ slingbacks from Faith aren’t going onto my wish list. Without the crystals, they just might have made it: they have a lovely shape, and as I said, I’m fairly digging the ol’ orange right now, but embellishments like this always look really cheap to me, and these in particular have a bit of a “DIY” look to them, as if the shoe didn’t originally look like that, and someone just came along and stuck on the “jewels” for a joke. It’s a shame, because they’d have been rather lovely without them.
If you think they’re fine just as they are, these are £70, are also available in silver, and you can buy a pair here.
