If you’re wondering what to wear on Valentine’s Day (or what to buy to celebrate the end of the Shoe Challenge at the same time!), Dune have handily named these heart-print sandals “Valentine”, to steer you in the right direction.
I’m not much of a fan of wearing hearts on Valentine’s Day (or any kind of “themed” dressing, come to think of it), but I’d happily wear these at any time of the year: I love the heart print and the cute little bow!
If you’re the type who likes your shoes to match your handbag (I know this is very frowned upon by some!), there’s even a little heart-covered clutch bag to match:
Awww!
Both of these are available from the Dune website: click here to buy them.
So, is anyone else ready for it to be Spring already?
I know I am, but that kinda goes without saying, doesn’t it? I’ve been ready for Spring since… well, since last Summer, basically – but once Christmas and New Year are out of the way I get particularly impatient, and have to keep reminding myself that we still have a few months of winter to get through yet!
To cheer myself up, I’ve been having a bit of a look at some of the Spring footwear collections, and today I bring you a preview of some of the styles you can expect to see from Dune later this year.
I can already tell that several of these are destined to become Shoeper favourites, so don’t be surprised if they crop up again here at some point: possibly on my feet. For now, though, take a look at the gallery, and tell me what you think!
These shoes have been clamouring for my attention for a while now. “Shoeperwoman!” they keep calling. “Put me on your blog! So that everyone can see me, and love me!”
I’ve been steadfastly ignoring these cries up until now because, well, there’s only so many pairs of colourblocked pumps I can take at any given time. Now that I’ve finally gotten round to these, though, I don’t know why I’ve been resisting them for so long, because although there are a lot of colour block platforms around right now, these still manage to be a bit different, and they do it by bringing the platform right up under the bridge of the foot, creating a chunky effect that’s really just an illusion: I don’t think these shoes are actually any thicker in that area than regular platforms: they just look like they are because of the platforms.
I really like these, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve been favouring non-platformed shoes (or ones with a concealed platform) lately, I’d probably be sorely tempted by them.
What do you think? (You can click here to buy them for £90.)
Shoes: Dune Olsen pumps Saved: Sunday, November 20th, 2011 With: Skirt and top, both River Island; bag, Gucci
Despite being a self-confessed shoe addict, I like to think I’m capable of being at least vaguely sensible about my purchases. (“Vaguely”, I said: I wouldn’t be Shoeperwoman if I could resist ‘em all!) I don’t, for instance, buy lots of dress shoes, which I know I won’t have the opportunity to wear. I don’t buy shoes I’m not 100% in love with, just because they’re on sale. And no matter how beautiful a pair of shoes is, if I can’t actually walk in them, I leave them on the shelf, because shoes are meant to be worn, not simply admired.
But.
There is one exception to that last point, and it’s these black ‘Olsen’ pumps by Dune. They. Are. Ankle. Breakers. Seriously: they’re not the highest shoes I own, but they are the highest non-platforms, and the fact that these have a 5″ heel with no platform to balance it out means they’re almost impossible to walk in: and I consider myself something of an expert in that particular field!
The problem is, though, that I love them. And having gone through a bit of a performance to buy them, there’s just no way I’m parting with them now, so I reserve them for those “car to bar” outings, where I know I’m not going to have do too much walking! One of those nights came along on Sunday, so the shoes got to be saved. They have, however, taught me an important lesson about five inch heels which don’t have platforms. The lesson is: DON’T.
Mustard and leopard-print are two of my favourite shoe colours right now, so naturally I was happy to see that those are the two colours Dune have chosen to make their ‘Held’ t-bars in.
The shape of these shoes is actually pretty unusual: we’re more used to seeing a t-bar strap on a rounded toe: these, however, use a pointed one, with a small platform, and that, combined with the shape of the strap, serves to elongate the toe and create that unusual shape.
These have a 4.9″ heel, with the aforementioned platform to make them feel a little shorter, and they’re £95 at Sarenza. What do you think of them?
I’m sure none of my shoe-loving readers need me to tell them that sparkles on shoes are BIG this season. Glitter and sequins abound, in even greater quantities than they usually do at this time of year, but amongst all of those glitter-coated lovelies, Dune’s ‘Sparkling Shoe’ still manages to stand out. Why? Because these limited edition shoes are being sold in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, with £50 of the £90 price tag going direct to the charity.
Oh, and they’re rather pretty shoes, too, don’t you think?
These shoes are available in red, green and silver – a bit like a Christmas gift, then – but I’m showing you the green because of course they’re my favourites. As well as the lovely colour, however, these also offer a nice twist on the traditional party sandal, with their woven upper and slingback heel, and I like the fact that they’re minus any glitter, crystals or other embellishments, relying simply on the vibrant colour and great design.
I also like the fact that these are on sale: they’re down to £42, and you can click here to buy them from Dune.
My town doesn’t have a Dune, but it does have a Debanhams which has recently started stocking the brand, much to my excitement (and to Shoeperman’s despair). That means I’ve been able to inspect these brogue shoe boots in person a couple of times recently (purely for research, as always), and the verdict? Love them. And trust me: they’re SO much nicer in person than they are in the photos: I’d seen them on the Dune website a few times, and thought they were nice, but nothing more. In person, however, they proved to be the kind of shoes you just can’t walk past without stopping to pick them up and inspect them, and that’s a very good sign!
Another good sign? These are currently on sale, and are down to just £55 from the original £110, making them a bit of a bargain, too. Of course, as you’d expect from a sale, not all sizes are available online, but there seemed to be plenty in store, so hopefully you should be able to track them down somewhere!
