“Awesome!” I thought. “The perfect, classic platform shoe, with the welcome addition of a cute little bow at the ankle: it doesn’t get much better than that!”
Then I found these:
A purple suede version with a leather bow. I think it just got better. But wait! What’s this?
Red suede. And now I have to ask: what did I do to Dolce Vita to make them so determined to scar my life with these difficult choices?
Actually, it’s not so difficult. I love all of these, but I think I still prefer the very first pair, purely for their versatility. What about you?
These are available in both red and black, and come with a 5.25″ heel and 1.5″ platform. Setting aside the colour for a moment, I’m rather liking the shape of these, with their thick heel and platform, and actually, the fact that I DO like them so much is a little surprising to me, because the chunkiness reminds me of Jeffrey Campbell’s ‘Lita’, and all of the otheer chunk platforms it spawned, and which I just can’t get on board with.
You can’t really set the colour of these aside for too long, though, and any discussion of these boots is inevitably going to come back to that bright red suede. There’s a part of me thinking, “Wow!” here, and a part of me thinking “Father Christmas”. I’m trying to stifle that second part, but it WILL keep popping back up again.
What do you think? These are $224 and you can click here to buy them from Shopbop.
I think these shoes are the proof that a bit of bright red can make any shoe instantly more appealing. To me, I mean. In black or brown, I may not have given these a second look, but that “STOP! LOOK AT ME!” colour did exactly what it’s supposed to here. I’d still like to snip off the ankle strap, but I’m willing to bet that this is one of those shoes that looks much better in person than it does in the product shot.
It you’re willing to give them a go, they’re by Dolce Vita, they’re also available in black, and they’re $210 at Shopbop. Click here to buy them.
If Elvis was somehow reincarnated as a woman’s shoe (No, I haven’t had a bump on the head, just go with me on this one…), I’m pretty sure this is more or less what he’d look like: all studs and denim (for yes, that’s white denim on the uppers) and “look at me!” attitude. OK, maybe not Elvis. Maybe these are just the reincarnation-in-shoe-form of a country singer with a great love of denim.
Whatever you think they look like, the facts are that they’re by Dolce Vita, they’re $240, and they’re available at Saks. Just try not to wear them with double-denim and a cowboy hat…
I had thought my latest Louboutin purchase would’ve satisfied my current craving for studded shoes, but nope – these ones by Dolce Vita still called out to me as I browsed the Neiman Marcus website, and the more I look, the more I like. Although these have all-over studs, rather than just a sprinkling, the overall effect is actually more subtle than some styles I’ve seen, and rather glamorous, too. With a classic, court shoe shape and a 4″ heel, these are sexy, but you should still be able to get away with them for most occasions.
I’ve shown you a few shoes similar to these lately, but I couldn’t resist showing you another pair – not when they’re as lovely as these ones, anyway! These are by Dolce Vita, and are $79.95 at Sole Struck. I love them, from the tip of their concealed platform toes to the end of their 4″ stiletto heels. Most of all, though, I love the mix of colours and textures on these shoes: the muted brown/taupe is perfect for this style, and while these would look great with other menswear inspired pieces (think wide-leg trousers and a slash of red lipstick), they’ll also work with more feminine styles, too.
