I, however, see the perfect summer shoe. This is one of my go-to shades for summer, and, as with almost all of Louboutin’s platform peep toes, the arch is just right, and is one of the things that makes these simple shoes stand apart from all of their contemporaries. The cork heel and sole, meanwhile, make them a little less dressier than they would otherwise have been: you’ll be able to throw them on with jeans, but you’ll also be able to wear them with smarter outfits – in fact, you could wear them all summer long and never need another pair of shoes, but what would be the fun in that?

Can you tell I quite like them?

cork soled striped shoes Marks & Spencer Limited Collection Cork Platform ShoesIf I’d spotted these shoes just a little bit sooner, there’s a very good chance they’d have been coming to Florida with me next week, because they’re basically the perfect summer holiday shoe, as far as I can see. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t spot them, mind you: I’d have had a hard time choosing between the red and blue, you see, and although they’re affordably priced at £29.50, I think two new pairs of shoes would’ve been a bit much, even for me.

I can’t have them, then, but you still can, and if you’re looking for the footwear equivalent of a day at the seaside, complete with ice cream, boat trips and maybe even a bit of sunshine if you’re lucky, head over to Marks & Spencer and snap these up.

It’s been at least a day since I last showed you a pair of shoes that could be described as “nautical”, so here’s a pair of Kors by Michael Kors peep toes that are about as fresh and summery as a shoe gets. While there’s nothing dramatically different about the design here, these are just lots of fun, and will be equally good at brightening up a pair of jeans or a summer skirt.
