Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Djaldos Spechio Colorblock Wedge

christian louboutin red and pink wedges Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Djaldos Spechio Colorblock Wedge

These shoes look a bit like some kind of footwear-based sculpture, don’t you think? And also a bit like a ship, when viewed from the back, let’s be honest. A pretty one, though.

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever found myself thinking, “What I need right now is a pair of bright pink wedges, with a metallic red upper”. I’m thinking it now, though: such is the power of the Louboutin.

The very thin wedge makes these much more delicate than most wedges, although the fact that it IS a wedge and not a stiletto should mean that the weight is distributed more evenly across the foot, making them a little more comfortable than might otherwise be the case. If you’d like to find out for sure, these are $925 at Neiman Marcus.

ShoeperStar: Holly Valance in Christian Louboutin ‘Super Vic’ pumps

If you’ve ever wondered how on earth you’d wear a pair of super-sparkly, crystal studded shoes (other than to your own wedding), then wonder no more: here’s Holly Valance, arriving at the Burberry show at London Fashion Week yesterday, and managing to dress-down a pair of Christian Louboutin’s ‘Super Vic’ pumps with that most classic of all outfits: little black dress, trenchcoat, dark glasses.

(I say “dress down”. It’s not exactly casual, is it? But it’s not, you know, a ballgown either, which is what I meant: it’s the kind of outfit I can imagine recreating, only for much, much less cash…)

I love all of this, but I particularly love the shoes, of course. Holly is wearing the gunmetal and silver version of these, which I couldn’t find online right now: the closet available alternative is the Strass version shown above, which are a “mere”$3,895 from the official Christian Louboutin website.

I’ve actually shown you these shoes before, in black, and most of you hated the fact that the very low vamp is designed to show a whole lot of toe cleavage. I’m perhaps unusual in that I don’t mind toe cleavage (and actually quite like it, on the right shoe), but these shoes certainly take it to new levels, it’s true!

Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Bianca 140mm in turquoise

It’s Bianca, everyone! Of course, we’ve all met Bianca before: it’s a classic Louboutin style, after all. We haven’t seen her in turquoise patent yet, though, and it’s such a gorgeous colour, especially when juxtaposed with the famous red sole, that I thought it would be a crime not to feature her as our Friday Fix.

If you want to actually buy her, she’ll cost you $845, and you can click here to do it.

(I’ll stop speaking about the shoe as if it’s a person now, I promise.)

(I’ll probably still THINK of it as if it’s a person, though…)

Shoeper Standoff: Rihanna & Alicia Keys in Christian Louboutin Bis un Bout at the 2012 Grammy Awards

Oh no! Celebrities in “Same Shoes Shocker!”

I jest, of course: Rihanna and Alicia Keys may both have worn Christian Louboutin’s ‘Bis Un Bout’ pumps to the Grammy Awards last night – and they may both have worn them with black, v-neck dresses, too – but that’s where the similarities end, and both women ended up with very different looks.

Which do you prefer, though? When I first saw the product shot for these shoes, I wasn’t particularly impressed, not being a big fan of the “clear plastic on shoes” look, but seeing them on a foot has actually started to sway my opinion a little: I like the barely-there, cap-toe effect, which I think looks much better in real life than in the photo. What do you think?

Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Studded-Bow Platform Slingbacks

You know what would be the perfect way to finish off this week? By slipping your feet into a pair of these little beauties, and going out dancing. Ideally there would be champagne involved, too.

I’m saving the champagne and fancy shoes (although not these ones, unfortunately) for Valentine’s Day, so I have no need of these gold Christian Louboutin slingbacks, unfortunately. That doesn’t mean I don’t WANT them, though, and I most certainly do want them. I mean, look at this:

Now THAT, my friends, is a bow. In fact, all of the other bows in the world are currently looking at  this photo and feeling totally inadequate because of it. Except the Valentino bows, obviously. And, OK, the Ted Baker bows. All other bows? Must bow to these ones. And then rest easy, because as gasp-worthy as these are, the shoes they’re attached to cost $2,395, so they’re probably NOT going to take over the world.

They could if they really wanted to, though.

Your Friday Louboutin Fix has come early this week, everyone. In fact, it feels a bit like Christmas has come early, what will all of the Loubie Loveliness that’s floating around this week courtesy of the publicity surrounding the 20th anniversary capsule collection.

Yes, Christian Louboutin is celebrating the birthday of his brand by creating even more amazing shoes. So, basically, he has the birthday, we get the gifts – although we DO have to pay for them, unfortunately.

You’ll find some of the shoes from the collection in the gallery below, with the rest at the Christian Louboutin Facebook page: what do you think?

ShoeperStar: Rachel McAdams in Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle’

You all know by now how much I love Christian Louboutin’s ‘Pigalle’ pumps, don’t you? Seriously, I LOVE those shoes, and if I was rich, I’d buy them in every single variation M. Louboutin sees fit to release them in.

Even if I WAS rich, though, I’m pretty sure I’d rather buy my own shoes – and make sure they actually fit me properly – than borrow a pair of designer shoes that were much too big, like Rachel McAdams, seen here at the L.A. premiere of The Vow this week. I love Rachel McAdams, and I really love this outfit: the mint Vivienne Westwood dress is to die for, as are the shoes – I even like her new bangs. Every time I look at these photos, though, my eyes just keep going back to the ill-fitting shoes, which seem to be the norm for celebrities these days, and always make the woman wearing them look like they’re playing dress-up with their mother’s clothes, I think.

What do you think? Would you wear borrowed Louboutins, even if they were a size too big?

After yesterday’s moment of mild horror from M. Louboutin, I’m pleased to see The Master return to form with these amazing crisscross platform sandals, which represent everything that is wonderful, from the red heel, to the crossover straps and, well, just everything really.

All is forgiven. Mr L. And mine is a size 37, just in case you’re wondering..

(Click here to buy them at Saks Fifth Avenue.)
