River Island blue suede spike heeled court shoes

blue suede shoes River Island blue suede spike heeled court shoesMetal heels are one of my pet hates on shoes. If there’s a better way to instantly cheapen a style, then I don’t know what it is – and many a time I’ve seen a shoe or boot I’ve loved, only to groan in despair as I notice the metal heel stuck to the back of it.

It’s safe to say I’m not going to be adding these to my Christmas list, then, although, to be fair, they probably wouldn’t have made the cut anyway, because that point-toed style is just a little too 80s for me in any case. If you like the 80s looks, though, these could be just what you’re looking for, and if so, they’re £54.99 from River Island.

Two-tone buckle court shoes from Barratts

barratts two tone shoes Two tone buckle court shoes from BarrattsYes, it’s that shade of blue we’ve been seeing so much of lately! This time it’s in two different fabrics – a mock suede and a mock snake – and comes with an ankle strap and rounded toe. Although this colour has been everywhere for the past few weeks, if not months, I still haven’t got bored of it yet, and the brightness of the shade will be particularly welcome on those dark winter days.

These are just £30, and they’re available from Barratts.

Shoe Deja Vu: ASOS take on Nicholas Kirkwood with their blue buckle platform gladiator sandals

asos vs nicholas kirkwood Shoe Deja Vu: ASOS take on Nicholas Kirkwood with their blue buckle platform gladiator sandals

Nope, they’re definitely not identical twins, but the family resemblance is fairly obvious, no? That particular shape of platform is just always going to say “Nicholas Kirkwood” to me, and I’m sure that’s what ASOS intended with these ‘Hectic’ sandals , which also have a similar (although far from identical) buckle detail on the toe, too.

They’re metallic rather than suede, have three buckles rather than one, and are missing the slingback the Kirkwood shoes have, but I still felt a strong sense of deja vu when I saw them. The Kirkwood shoes are hard to get hold of now, but retailed for around £480. The ASOS versions, meanwhile, will cost you just £50 from the ASOS website.

High heeled velour court shoes from Matalan

matalan court shoes High heeled velour court shoes from MatalanI tried these shoes on when I was in Matalan buying my red ruffle shoes last month, so I can first of all reassure you that although the word “velour” may sound a little alarming, they’re actually nicer than they look/sound, and the uppers look more like suede than “velour”.

However, given that this is a mock-suede shoe that costs £12, you probably wouldn’t expect them to be the hardest wearing footwear around, and you’d probably be right.  They do LOOK good, though, and I loved the colours: in fact, the only reason I didn’t walk away with a pair was because I couldn’t decide between the three colours shown above, or the black version which is also available. (They also come in grey, but I wasn’t too taken with that.) At least being indecisive saves you money…

Suedette stud ankle boots from Dorothy Perkins

studded ankle boots Suedette stud ankle boots from Dorothy PerkinsI promise that one day I’ll stop writing about boots with studs on them. That come in a choice of purple/black/blue. Just… not today.

These ones are by Dorothy Perkins, and manage to tap into all of the aforementioned trends. Looks like there’s going to be a LOT of blue and purple around in the coming months, which is fine by me, because I love both of those colours. With that said, if you’re on a budget (and let’s face it, most of us are) it’s probably safer to go for the black, which will be a lot more versatile.

If you’re bored with black, though, one good thing about these particular boots is the price: they’re £45, which makes going for a bright colour seem a little more reasonable. Or maybe even buying more than one. Not that I’d advocate that AT ALL, you understand. Ahem.

    Topshop ‘Anique’ stud-toe ankle boots

Looks like the trend for bright blue footwear will continue right into winter, then. And the trend for studs. And platforms. Ah well, you can’t say you weren’t warned…

These boots are by Topshop, who seem quite determined to take all of my money in change for shoes. As I’ve commented before, though, Topshop do a great job of interpreting catwalk trends in footwear, and while studded ankle boots aren’t new (and I don’t think these are a patch on the various Louboutin styles of last year), they’ve made these ones fresh with the bright colours. They’re also available in black, which would be the sensible choice, but I’m really liking purple right now, and it’s always a winter staple, so those would probably be MY choice, if money was no object.

Shoe Deja Vu: Martinez Valero does Manolo Blahnik’s ‘Something Blue’ pumps

martinez manolo Shoe Deja Vu: Martinez Valero does Manolo Blahniks Something Blue pumps

Sex and the City fans will have instantly recognised the shoes on the right of the image above as the shoes Carrie wears in the movie.

And everyone, SATC fan or not, will have instantly recognised the shoes on the LEFT as more or less exact copies of the Manolo Blahniks, minus that extra bit of Blahnik style. No?

Quite how this one didn’t get Martinez Valero sued is beyond me but the designer-inspired shoes are $164 from Zappos, while the Manolo originals are $945 from Bergdorf Goodman.

River Island ‘Alesha’ bow peep toe shoes

river island alesha River Island Alesha bow peep toe shoesOh, River Island, lead me not into temptation! You know I can’t resist a nice bow-fronted peep toe, and although your website claims that the shoes in the middle are “pink”, they look suspiciously close to my beloved “nude”.

The bright blue seen here is yet more evidence that this is very much THE colour of the season. We’ve been seeing an awful lot of it lately, which is, of course, great news for those of you who love it, not so much for anyone who’s already tired of it.

These are £59.99 and you can buy them at River Island.
