Shoeper Style Challenge: What to wear with Kurt Geiger ‘Class’?

kurt geiger class1 Shoeper Style Challenge: What to wear with Kurt Geiger Class?

It’s been a couple of weeks since our last Shoeper Style Challenge, so I thought we’d have a bit of Friday fun and indulge in a quick spot of shoe stylin’.

Now, I had approximately two minutes to choose a pair of shoes for you to style this week, so I instinctively went for my own favourite shoes of the moment: Kurt Geiger’s ‘Class’, which I’d buy in every single colour they come in, if I only could, but which I’ve selected in blue for the purpose of the challenge.

As always, the rules are pretty straightforward:

    1. Create an outfit to wear with these shoes

If you’re using Polyvore, you’ll find the shoes here. (Or type “Kurt Geiger Class” into the Polyvore search.)

    2. Upload your image into the comments section

You’ll find the image uploader at the bottom of the comments form. Please note: you’ll have to save the image to your computer (as a .jpg file) to upload it – Polyvore’s code will not display in our comments field. The comments box will automatically re-size your image, but if you’re trying to upload a really large file, it will reject it, as extra large images will break the site: sorry! You can find lots of free image re-sizing programmes online by searching for “online image resize” or similar.

Ready? Let’s see what you’d wear with these shoes!

I’ve been seeing these shoes pop up in various places recently, so I figured it was time I wrote about them! And now that I’ve finally gotten round to it, I’m actually not sure what took me so long, because these have so many things going for them, from the bright blue suede (always a colour guaranteed to get my attention) to the cute little knotted bow on the slingback.

These are available in a couple of different colours (Net-a-Porter is currently stocking a coral version which is very pretty), but the bright blue will always win a shoeper heart. These are £315: click here to buy them.

I think these shoes deserve to be called “OHYES” rather than “OHNO”, don’t you? OK, that was a bad joke, but they’re not a bad pair of shoes: in fact, given how rarely I find myself attracted to a pair of mid-height heels (these come in at 3.5″), they’re really a pretty GOOD pair, if you ask me.

Of course, I’m probably always going to be a sucker for this shade of blue, which is always guaranteed to make we want to take a closer look, whatever it’s attached to. In this case, what it’s attached to is a pair of pretty little court shoes, with a slingback heel and oversized bow. The colour makes them stand out, but I also love the elegant shape, which will work for dressy occasions as well as more casual ones.

These are by Rocket Dog, they’re £49, and they’re also available in black: click here to buy them from Spartoo.

Mellow Yellow polka dot ‘Lavande’ peep toes

Oh look, I’m showing you a pair of polka dot peep toes: how unusual!

Sarcasm aside, I feel I have to once again defend myself slightly by explaining again that polka dots are, like, SO HOT right now. Apparently I have to do that in the style of a teenage Valley girl too, for some reason. OK, I’ll stop.

No, really, though: polka dots are even more popular right now than they usually are at this time of year, and given that polka dots are almost ALWAYS popular at this time of year (Apparently I’m not the only person who thinks, “Oooh, Spring! Better get the polka dots out!” Then again, I think that in winter, too. And in Summer and Autumn, actually.), that’s a whole lot of polka dots. I LOVE it.

These ones are by Mellow Yellow, and are attached to a classic, bow-fronted, d’orsay cut peep toe with a wooden heel. They come in bright red and pale blue, and I’m seriously struggling to decide which one I like best: the red has that pin-up girl appeal to it, but then, the blue just screams Easter to me, and is just very fresh and appealing. Oh, I give up.

If you can choose between them – or if you want to just buy both – these are £109 at Sarenza. Click here to buy them.

Shoe Deja Vu: L.A.M.B ‘Meredith’ vs Zara asymmetric pumps

They’re blue rather than black, and there are some other obvious differences, but the basic shape of L.A.M.B‘s ‘Meredith’ instantly reminded me of my beloved Zara asymmetric pumps, a.k.a. The Ones That Got Away:

Honestly, it still hurts to look at them. Mostly because they’re STILL popping up on eBay for upwards of £200, which is just CRAZYtalk. But I digress.

The L.A.M.B. shoes are also available in red and taupe, and have a slightly less elegant shape than the Zara version, plus an odd little “fat roll” around the sides. It’s that little platform that really annoys me about these, though: what’s the point of it? Why does a shoe need a tiny little platform, that’s smaller than the shoe itself? Go big, or go home, that’s my rule. And this shoe honestly doesn’t NEED a platform: not even a small one.

Still, for all of their flaws, they’re possibly the closest thing I’ve seen to the Zara lovelies, and at $250, could even work out cheaper – if you’re trying to buy the Zara version on eBay, that is.

    Sergio Rossi blue plexiglass sandals

sergio rossi blue plexglass sandals Sergio Rossi blue plexiglass sandalsEven although the thought of paying £500 for a pair of plexiglass sandals makes me break out in a cold sweat, and I can already imagine what kind of reaction these shoes will get from most of my readers, there’s something about them that’s really pleasing to the eye. I suspect it’s probably just the colour mix: those blues and greens make me think of the sea, especially when combined with the clear uppers, and they’re just very soothing to look at.

Would I wear them? Probably not, although I like them better than most clear plastic shoes I see.

Would I buy them? Definitely not. I did mention the £500 price tag, didn’t I?

If you would, however, they’re available at Colette, and you can click here to find them. Here’s one more photo for the road:

New Look blue and gold ballet flats

new look ballet flats New Look blue and gold ballet flats

Earlier this week I was extolling the virtues of New Looks £7 ballet flats, and now here I am showing you a pair which cost a “whopping” £15.99. Which, OK, is still very affordable, isn’t it? This is why New Look tends to be my go-to for flats: I don’t wear them often enough to spend a lot of money on them, and they always have such a huge collection of colours and styles that you can splash out on two or three of them, and still not spend very much.

These particular shoes appealed to me because they’re a slightly dressier flat than most, and the blue and gold colours look particularly nice together (these also come in coral and black). These are from the Wide Fit range at New Look: I don’t think I have particularly wide feet, but I’ve bought flats from this range in the past, and haven’t had an issues with them (I find my feet spread out more in flats, and sometimes leave me between sizes in them: the four will be too small, and the five too large, so a wide-fit size four is sometimes the answer), so I wouldn’t rule them out, even if you don’t normally shop in this section. (I actually try not to rule ANYTHING out when I’m shopping: you never really know what’s going to  work!)

Want a pair? Well, then, you better click here!

    Zara blue suede crossover sandals

I know what you’re thinking. Crossover sandals? From Zara? Didn’t we do this one already?

Well, yes, we did. Last week, in fact. But it’s OK, because this is a different crossover sandal, in terms of both colour, shape and price: while the red shoes I showed you last week were £69.99, these are just £39.99, presumably because the first pair were leather, and these are man-made. (But also, let’s face it, because they’re from Zara, where prices tend to be either very reasonable or very expensive, with little middle ground.)

It was the blue version which caught my eye (But of course…), but these are also lovely in this black and tan colourway:

These are also £39.99: click here to buy them at Zara.
