Firetrap ‘Phoenix’ bow court shoes in black, purple and blue

office bow court shoes Firetrap Phoenix bow court shoes in black, purple and blueA simple, suede court shoe, but of course, sometimes “simple” is exactly what you’re looking for – and if it just so happens to come with a bow on top, well, so much the better!

These little ‘Phoenix’ pumps from Office will take you just about everywhere, and come in three different colours. I’m instantly drawn to the purple, but I’ve been buying a lot of blue recently, so I suspect I could probably find some space in my closet for those, too. And, you know, you ALWAYS need a nice pair of black pumps, don’t you? Whoops! Sucked in again!

    Carvela ‘Gemini’ platform sole shoes

Lordy! If 2009 was the year of the big platform, it’s starting to look like 2010 will be the year of the, er, even bigger platform. I’m not adverse to platforms (in fact, I’ve become so accustomed to seeing them now that shoes that DON’T have some kind of built-up sole have started to look almost “naked” to me, somehow), but when they get to the size of the platforms on these Carvela shoes, I think they start to look odd, and become very difficult to wear. I used the term “stripper shoes” yesterday, and while these lack the perspex soles, I think, once again, a really lovely shoe has been just a little bit spoiled by the monstrous platform.

What do you think? If you disagree, these are £100 at Kurt Geiger.

ASOS Perdita bow back court shoes

I was seriously tempted by these shoes a couple of days ago, and if it hadn’t been for the fact that I’d just ordered a pair of black pumps (more of which when they arrive), I’d quite possibly have succumbed. Well, they’re pretty affordable at £35, they come in a versatile pewter or a shiny black, and they have that cute little bow on the back, too:  lovely!

I also notice that ASOS.com have added a much better zoom facility to their website, so you get a far better idea of what the shoes will actually look like in person. In close-up, the black version of these look much prettier than they do in the smaller product shot, so it’s worth taking a look if you think you might like them.

Dolce & Gabbana black peep-toe slides with bow

After the increasingly bizarre styles they brought us last year, here’s a more conventionally pretty shoe from Dolce & Gabbana.

I know slides tend to divide opinion: a lot of people find them difficult to walk in, and it’s true that the absence of any heel-grip can make them live up to their names and slide off, bu I’ve always had a bit of a soft-spot for then. These ones are delicate and feminine looking, and the fact that you don’t see a whole lot of slides around these days makes them just a bit unusual, too.

    They’re $495 at Saks.

Schuh ‘Lois’ patent court shoes in red or black

schuh lois courts Schuh Lois patent court shoes in red or blackJanuary is traditionally the time of year when we give up all of the indulgences of the party season and knuckle back down to some serious, hard work.

Happily, though, they doesn’t mean we have to wear boring shoes. These ‘Lois’ courts from Schuh are super-sexy, but you’d probably still be able to get away with wearing the black pair to work. (The red ones, possibly not so much, although of course, it all depends on where you work!). These are almost identical to the Dune ‘Olson’ pumps I wrote about last year, although in patent rather than leather/suede, and also a fair bit cheaper, at £49.99.

In this case, I think the shoes do LOOK cheaper, and the red pair in particular are a bit too cheap looking (one of the dangers of using red patent on a shoe -it can very easily stray into “tacky” territory), but if you think you can live with that, you can buy them at Schuh.

Faith ‘Ceramone’ black patent pumps with ruffle

Remember Christian Louboutin’s ‘Lady Page’ shoes? I certainly do – well, I spent enough time licking the screen at the sight of them to make sure I wouldn’t forget them!

These ‘Ceramone’ shoes from Faith aren’t quite close enough to count as Shoe Deja Vu, but the Louboutins were the first thing that popped into my head when I looked at them (Mind you, Louboutins are quite often the first thing to pop into my mind), so I suspect some degree of designer inspiration may have gone on here.

Having spent a good couple of years making shoes with red soles, Faith seem to have switched to purple for these shoes, perhaps in a bid to play up the differences between this and the designer shoe. It makes a nice change, anyway, and the sole has a rather nice metallic sheen to it too, which you can’t quite see  in this image.

For a closer look, or to buy them (they’re £65), go here.

Black and gold platfrom sandals from New Look

new look metallic sandals Black and gold platfrom sandals from New LookShoes that have some kind of “curved” detail on them generally have a good chance of appearing here on Shoeperwoman, and these New Look sandals are no exception. At just £30, they’re the kind of shoes you’d buy for a party, probably not expecting to get a huge amount of use out of them afterwards, but the black and silver uppers will be really versatile, and I reckon they could be a good buy if you have a busy party season coming up, and don’t want to have to spend too much on a pair of shoes.  The silver strap also has a vague Georgina Goodman/Nicholas Kirkwood feel about it, which is always a good thing in my book.
