Aldo ‘Prucha’ bow front peep toes

bow front pepe toes Aldo Prucha bow front peep toes

Bows are to Shoeperwoman what shiny things are to magpies, and while I can’t help wishing these ones were attached to a slightly lower platform, the bows themselves were cute enough to have me cooing over them, so here they are!

It’s actually the size of these bows which really makes them stand out: they give the simple shoe underneath the look of some kind of extravagant gift just waiting to be unwrapped, and the silk and grossgrain fabrics help add to the feeling of luxury.

These shoes are available in a choice of either black or pale pink satin: I’d have a hard time choosing a favourite, but if you can choose a winner, you can click here to buy them from Aldo, where they’re £80.

    Topshop ‘Roar’ flame-side sandals

I’m really pleased to see the “flame” motif from Prada’s amazing Spring/Summer shoe collection start to trickle down to the high street, in a form which is both cheaper and more wearable. As you know, I was a huge fan of all of the 50s car-inspired collection, and while Topshop’s ‘roar’ sandals aren’t a patch on Prada, they are rather cute in their own right, and they’ll also be a whole lot easier to wear than their designer sisters!

These have a black suede upper with silver trim, a shiny silver heel, and a hot pink insole: they’re £55 and you can click here to buy them from Topshop.

Shoe Review: Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps in Raso Nero

    SHOES: Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps
    BUY: Spartoo

As some of you know, I’ve been declaring Casadei’s ‘Blade’ pumps to be Shoe Kryptonite for quite some time now, so when the opportunity came up to try a pair, courtesy of my sponsors at Spartoo, I jumped at it.

This particular pair are from the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, and have a black satin upper with that trademark ‘blade’ heel which gives these shoes their name:

casadei blade Shoe Review: Casadei Blade pumps in Raso Nero

It’s kinda lethal looking, but is, of course, what makes these shoes so distinctive: and why I’ve loved them for such a long time!

    The toe, meanwhile, is super-pointy:

Such a pointed shape wouldn’t have appealed to me at all even a year ago, but I’ve been wearing more of this kind of style (albeit not quite as pointed) lately, and I don’t think this particular shoe would really work with any other kind of shape: it, combined with the heel, is what gives the shoe that “dangerous” kind of look to it.

I ordered these in my usual size UK4/Euro 37 and I’d say they’re true to size: they felt a little tight at first, as most new shoes do, but after just a few minutes of walking around, they were perfect. Of course, shoes like these are never going to be what you’d call “comfortable” exactly – they’re just not built for a huge amount of walking! That said, they’re not exactly uncomfortable either, and although the angle of the foot is fairly steep, I find them easier to walk in than something like my Dune Olsen pumps, for instance, which are the standard by which I judge all shoes, being the most uncomfortable ones I own. These don’t quite fall into that category, happily, although the real proof will come when I actually wear them out of the house, so look out for them in a Shoe Challenge soon!

Office ‘All I Want for Christmas’ nude patent peep toes

office all i want for christmas Office All I Want for Christmas nude patent peep toes

These shoes are either three months too late for Christmas or way, way too early for it. They also have a bow that’s almost identical to the one River Island added to so many of their shoes last year. I don’t care though, because I love this particular shape of bow, and am actually quite surprised that I managed to resist all of the many incarnations if it I seen last year. I’m going to have to resist it now, too, unfortunately: not because I want to, but because these are sold out in my size. Damn.

Worry not, though: they are still in stock in a few other sizes, and while I don’t think I could ever have too many pairs of nude pumps (although I’m certainly doing my very best to test that theory), if you’re not so keen, there’s also a black and gold version, which is currently on sale.

Miss Selfridge ‘Saffi’ black platform pumps with bow

Plain black shoes are often accused of being boring, but I have to beg to differ. Not only is a great pair of plain black pumps one of those “wardrobe staples” magazines are always banging on about, if the shape is right, they can still have a lot of impact, despite the so-called “dull” upper.

These Miss Selfridge “Saffi” platforms definitely grabbed my attention when they arrived on the site last week. I really like the little bow on the side, which makes a simple style just a little more interesting, but to be perfectly honest, I’d probably have liked these even without it. Sometimes a simple back pump is exactly what a Shoeperhero needs, after all.

Miss Selfridge ‘Sugar’ pink bow sling heel

There isn’t a lot to say about these shoes that hasn’t already been said in the title of this post, but I’m featuring them anyway, because seriously, aren’t they cute?

These actually get cuter the more you look at them, too. For instance, the chiffon bow is a nice touch, and what you perhaps don’t notice right away from the photo, is that the insole is patent, to contrast with the suede upper and platform. This is more obvious when you see these in black:

Two really versatile, but still pretty, pairs of shoes: I’d personally go for the pale pink, which is so neutral it would get the most wear, but the black and gold version is rather nice too. These are £42 and you can click here to buy them at Miss Selfridge.

ShoeperStar: Adele wears ALDO ‘Troiano’ to the 2012 Grammy Awards

Capture1 ShoeperStar: Adele wears ALDO Troiano to the 2012 Grammy Awards

She may not have worn them with this particular dress (which was the only one my image agency had available, unfortunately!), but those of you who were watching The Grammy Awards on TV last night may well have caught a glimpse of Adele’s black suede pumps, with the shorter dress she wore on stage. Those shoes were ALDO’s ‘Troiano’ pumps, which are just £75, and are also available in red and beige.

Isn’t it refreshing to see a celebrity wearing a pair of shoes from the high street, for a change? And I’m going to take a wild guess here, because I can’t possibly know for sure, but I bet Adele’s shoes actually fit her, too…

ShoeperStar: Sarah Michelle Gellar in B Brian Atwood ‘Blayne’ pumps

It’s a little bit of a shame (for us, although obviously not for her) that Sarah Michelle Gellar is walking towards the camera, rather than away from it, in this photo, because the back of this shoe is where all the action is. Or where all of the gold is, anyway.

These are B Brian Atwood‘s ‘Blayne’ pumps, which come with a black suede upper and gold leather heels. I feel like I’ve been a bit unfair to the front by focusing so much on that heel, so here are a couple more views for you:

Black pumps are so easily dismissed as “boring”, but sometimes all it takes is to see someone actually wearing them to change your mind: I must have seen these dozens of times on Shopbop, but this is the first time I’ve really stopped to look at them, and all because I finally got to see someone wearing them!
