Shoe Save # 71/81: The Same But Different

D70 8633 Shoe Save # 71/81: The Same But Different

SHOES: Kurt Geiger Ediva t-bars
SAVED: Wednesday, December 21st, 2011
WITH: New Look cardigan; River Island skirt; Topshop shell top

No sooner had I downloaded these photos from the camera, than I realised I wore an almost identical outfit last time I saved these shoes. Whoops! This is particularly annoying, because I’ve actually worn them fairly often since then – I just haven’t photographed them. Time is off the essence, though, and I still feel like I have too many shoes left to get through, so here I am in my almost-identical outfit:

I always feel like this cardigan has to be worn with pearls, somehow: it has that kind of feel about it.

These are one of my favourite pairs of shoes: I’m so relieved to have them “safe”!

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 46: Non-Casual Sunday

shoeperwoman shoe storage Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 46: Non Casual Sunday

What: Charlotte Russe herringbone peep toes
When: Sunday, August 29th, 2010
Where: Date night
With: green dress worn as top (eBay); black River Island pencil skirt; Matalan bracelet; pearls (my mum’s); obi belt (gifted)

I had to take a rain-check on Non-Casual Friday this week: I was struck down with a migraine on Friday afternoon, which meant that getting dressed up (or, indeed, doing anything other than lying on the bed feeling sorry for myself) was the last thing on my mind.

I managed to make up for it on Sunday, though. This outfit is another DIY, and, like my dress-to-skirt outfit from last week, is the result of an eBay purchase that didn’t quite work out. Actually, this outfit is pretty much the exact opposite of that one, because whereas last week I took a dress and wore it as a skirt, this time the green top you can see is actually a dress, too. This one arrived from eBay last week (can you tell I’ve been spending a lot of time on eBay lately? This is what happens when I try to save money…), and while I loved the top half, the skirt was both too big in the waist, and a little too frilly for my tastes.

Because I loved the colour and fabric so much, I was going to just wear it anyway, but as I stood looking at it and thinking how much better it would be as a top, it suddenly occurred to me that there was nothing stopping me just wearing it as a top. So I pulled this black pencil skirt on over it, and ended up with a much more wearable outfit, although I may well wear the dress the way it’s supposed to be worn one of these days, if it’s ever warm enough!

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 35: Mirror, mirror…

shoe challenge 352 Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 35: Mirror, mirror...

What: New Look teal peep toes
When: Sunday, July 4th 2010
Where: Dinner date
With: Scarf-detail top (New Look); black pencil skirt (River Island)

Well, Shoeperman was surprisingly unfazed by the whole ”shelves as shoe-storage” idea. I’ve yet to put it into practice, but I have to say, I’m tempted. After all, as Roisin commented, just think how much easier the Shoe Challenge would be if I could actually see the shoes I still have to wear, rather  than having to root around in the backs of closets for them all the time!

Speaking of which, though, storage will probably be less of an issue once this challenge is over, because working on the “use it or lose it” principle, I’ve worked out that I’m probably going to be losing quite a bit of my current collection (especially if the weather stays as miserable as it has been: it’s just too cold for sandals!). I’m actually OK with that, though. In fact, I’m kinda looking forward to having a more pared-down collection, full of shoes I love and wear to death, rather than a larger collection of shoes that never see the light of day, and just take up space.

I bet Shoeperman is looking forward to it too.

As for these shoes: well, what else do you wear on your feet when you’ve just survived 24 hours of torrential rain? Satin shoes, obviously. D’oh.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge #5: Be My Valentine

valentines day shoe outfit Shoeper Shoe Challenge #5: Be My Valentine

What: Red Matalan ruffle shoes (with ruffle removed)
When: February 14th, 2010
Where: Valentine’s dinner date
With: New Look polka dot top, River Island pencil skirt, red bow belt (no idea) and black bag (gifted)

Shoeperman and I don’t really do the whole “gifts and cards” thing on Valentine’s Day, but we WILL take any excuse to eat out, so last night we had dinner in the middle of a lake. In a restaurant, I mean: I don’t think these shoes would’ve coped well with a rowing boat, somehow…

The shoes in question are my red Matalan ruffle shoes, worn with the ruffle removed, and with my new obsession: POLKA DOTS! You can probably expect to see a lot more dots around here as the year progresses. A LOT more. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

What did everyone else do for Valentine’s, if anything? And, more importantly, which shoes did you wear?
