An easy way to make a black pump a little more interesting, from Jasper Conran’s line for Debenhams.

At £45, these are inexpensive, and would make a great work shoe, assuming you have the kind of job that makes black pumps the perfect choice, of course! Now, if they only had them in a nice, bright blue…

Leave it to Gina to add a big old dollop of Swarovski crystals to the humble wedge! Of course, there’s really nothing “humble” about these wedges at all, is there?  With crystals all over the heel and sole, it’s a good job the uppers are super-plain, or it would be all too easy for these shoes to be mistaken for some kind of disco ball. As it is, they’re the kind of evening shoes you’d wear if you wanted people to stare at your feet, rather than your face all night (handy if you got a huge spot on the day of the party, I guess!). Oh, and the kind of shoes you’d wear if you were willing to spend £875 on them.

Are you? Get them here if you are.

This is the second pair of black and gold shoes I’ve featured here today, but I hope you’ll forgive me for that once you’ve had the chance to gaze upon the loveliness of these Rupert Sanderson sandals.

These don’t look particularly “gladiator-like” to me, but I’m not going to quibble over the name when there are beautiful shoes to be looked at, and anyway, if ALL gladiator sandals were as gorgeous as these ones, I’d be a very happy Shoeperwoman. Of course, the combination of black and gold on a shoe has always been one of my favourites, but these are particularly nicely done, and are dressy without being fussy. The strong lines of these, plus that shiny gold, would make these perfect with a simple dress: they’re £693 at Louisa Via Roma.

Metallic heel peep toes by Jaeger London

Jaeger isn’t a brand I generally associate with fabulous shoes. In fact, I’ll be honest: it’s a brand I more often associate with smart suits and sensible midi-skirts. It would appear I’ve misjudged Jaeger, though, because just look at these black and gold heels! Aren’t they amazing? That gold heel is just so striking against the black suede, and I also love the chunky shape. Such a simple idea, but so beautifully executed that I can’t help but want a pair. Now.

These are £170, and if you want a pair too, you can buy them at My-Wardrobe.

I’ve tried to resist commenting that these shoes are “as cute as a button”, but it looks like I can’t manage it. Forgive me.

It IS true, though. Over-used as it may be, I think the word “cute” is very fitting here: the patent uppers and white piping give these a sassy feel, and, me being me, I really appreciate the dots and stripes on the insole, even although no one would actually see it when the shoes were on. It’s a shame Next didn’t provide a larger image of the red version of these on their website, because those are the ones I’d go for, but I’m sure you get the idea even from this tiny glimpse of them!

These are just £26: get them here.

Faith Chevelli knot-front suede court shoes

Along with bows and hearts and jewels and, oh, all kinds of other things, I’m quite partial to a big ol’ knot on the front of a shoe. I know that sounds like a strange thing to be a fan of, but when you look at these knot-front suede court shoes from Faith, maybe you’ll see what I mean.

Orange is this season’s hot colour right now (no pun intended), but as much as I love the shoe on the left of this photo, I also really like the black version on the right, which would make an elegant pump for work, or for anything you want to look a little bit “smart” for. Lovely.

Timeless sequin bow shoes from Oli

Remember Kurt Geiger’s ‘Dolly’ shoes? The ones with the sequins? And the BOW? They were gorgeous, but they were also £100, and, all too soon, they were sold out.

These shoes from Oli, however, are only £25, and while, OK, they do look less expensive/fabulous than the KG versions, they’re in exactly the same style, and won’t be as hard on the credit card. With pay-day still feeling very far away right now, that has to be a good thing…

Acne black ‘Agate’ pom-pom sandals

Ooh! I used to make pom-poms just like that when I was a kid! You know, with the two circles of cardboard, and the wool? OK, so maybe mine didn’t turn out exactly like the ones on these black sandals. Mine were probably a little more straggly and sad looking. But still: if only I’d thought to attach them to a pair of shoes, I could’ve sold them for £485 per pair and been rich by now – rich, I tells ya!

Ah, well. We can’t all be shoe designers! The pom-poms on these sandals are detachable, and I think that’s a very good thing, because I can’t imagine a single situation in my life in which I’d be likely to want or need to wear shoes that look like this. Once you force your eyes away from the “clown” element, however, there’s actually a really nice shoe hidden underneath: it’s just a shame the embellishments are so very distracting!

ASOS Princess Peep Toe Shoes

Oh dear. I think I may just have identified my 72nd pair of shoes. And maybe the 73rd too, actually. Yes, I know they’re just plain peep toes, but during the warmer months of the year, I more or less live in plain peep toes: they’re one of my favourite style of shoes, the shape works with just about anything, and it so happens that I’ve been on the lookout for a red pair for quite some time now. And a nude pair. I could really be doing with a black pair too, and I’m not even joking here. Seriously, give me these three shoes, plus some peep-toe appropriate weather, and I bet I could wear nothing else on my feet for a month. Hey, maybe that should be my next shoe challenge?

The nude pair of these actually looks a little on the white side to me (even my pale legs aren’t quite that colour), but the red is just the shade I’m looking for: it’s bright, but not so bright that it looks cheap, which can sometimes be a problem with red shoes.

One of the best things about these, though, is the price. They’re just £25, and you can buy them at ASOS.com.

These shoes have a real “supervillain” feel to them, don’t they? I think it’s something to do with that high”collar” detail at the heel. It reminds me of this:

She’d totally wear these shoes, wouldn’t she? They’re all angles and sharp edges, and there’s something very hard about them: so much so, in fact, that I think I’ll be giving them a miss. What do you think of them, though? Do you like them enough to spend £80 on them, I wonder? If so, you’ll find them at Faith.
