Shoe Deja Vu: Blue bow side high heel shoes by Red Herring and Barratts

blue side bow shoes Shoe Deja Vu: Blue bow side high heel shoes by Red Herring and BarrattsThis style of shoe is apparently very popular at the moment: these ones are by Red Herring, but I spotted an almost identical pair at Barratts:

A slightly different colour, but a very similar style, so either these two brands share a supplier or they share a brain, who knows.

The Debenhams shoes are slightly cheaper at £28, while the Barratts versions come in at £35, and both brands also offer a red version, although the Barratts shoe is a much pinker colour than the Red Herring one.

Rascal three bow court shoes from Barratts

three bow court shoes Rascal three bow court shoes from BarrattsThese definitely aren’t the only shoes we’ve seen in this style recently, but at £20 they’re quite possibly the cheapest: and I’d argue that they’re one of the cutest too, with those little buttons in the centre of each bow. These come in three colours: the purple version is shown above, but they’re also available in black and grey. You can grab yourself a pair at Barratts.

Two-tone buckle court shoes from Barratts

barratts two tone shoes Two tone buckle court shoes from BarrattsYes, it’s that shade of blue we’ve been seeing so much of lately! This time it’s in two different fabrics – a mock suede and a mock snake – and comes with an ankle strap and rounded toe. Although this colour has been everywhere for the past few weeks, if not months, I still haven’t got bored of it yet, and the brightness of the shade will be particularly welcome on those dark winter days.

These are just £30, and they’re available from Barratts.

Red suedette knee high boots from Barratts

red suede knee boots Red suedette knee high boots from BarrattsKnee high boots are sold by just about everyone at this time of year. The difference with these ones, though, is that they’re bright red – and amongst a sea of black, brown and the occasional purple, that’s really going to make them stand out. It’s also going to make you look a lot like Father Christmas if you’re not careful about what you wear with them: personally I’d stick to blacks and greys and resist the impulse to grow a long white beard, but avoiding to much red in the rest of your outfit will do the trick too. (Or green, actually: looking like one of the elves wouldn’t be much better now, would it?)

Christmas associations aside, I kind of love these, and I especially like the fact that they’re only £45. What YOU may like about them, however, is the fact that they also come in black, with not a Santa Claus reference in sight.

Barratts ‘Freckles’ tan flat slouch boots

When I was out shopping at the weekend, I happened to walk past a woman who was wearing the most gorgeous pair of slouchy, flat boots in a lovely tan leather. Instantly I was obsessed: I, too, wanted a pair of tan coloured flat boots, and so I set about searching through the mall we were visiting to see if i could find a pair.

These “Freckles” boots by Barratts were the closest match I could find: although they’re not real leather they’re much nicer and more expensive looking in real life than they are in this photo, and although they’re not totally flat, I really like the small heel, which will help give the foot a bit of support as well as creating a slightly more elegant shape.

The shop had closed before I could make my mind up whether to go back and buy them or not, but at just £45 I think they’d make a good, hard-wearing pair of boots for winter.

Barratts red ballet flats with pointed toes

barratts red ballet flats Barratts red ballet flats with pointed toesAlthough they seem to enjoy widespread popularity, I’ve never been much of a fan of the traditional round-toed ballerina flats. Oh, they look great on other people, but on me, the rounded toes always feel a little unflattering, so I’m constantly on the lookout for flats with almond or pointed toes instead. This is no easy task: the popularity of  the round toes means that’s all many brands produce in this style of shoe, so when I stumbled across these pointed toe versions from Barratts, I immediately added them to my Wish List in every colour they come in. (That’s red, black, and grey, by the way.)

At only £20 per pair, these would make a great year-round staple: and the bright red versions will look great dressed-up, too.

Glitter-encrusted ballet pumps from Barratts

glitter ballet pumps Glitter encrusted ballet pumps from BarrattsJust to prove that it’s not just designer shoes with high heels that have fallen prey to the Attack of the Glitter this season, here’s a pair of flats from Barratts that look like they’ve taken a bit of a dip in the glitter pot.

As much as I loved those Miu Mius I showed you earlier this week, I’m always a little wary about glitter-covered shoes, which is why I don’t actually own any. I aways imagine the glitter dropping off as I walk around in them, and while I know that’s probably not the case, I’ve yet to succumb.

If you’ve already been well and truly seduced by glitter, though, these flats will give your feet a break from heels, but still look party-appropriate. They’re £20, and also come in black and purple.

Barratts two-part purple sandals with frill trim

I think it’s the gloomy weather we’re currently experiencing here that keeps drawing me back to brightly coloured suede (or suede effect – these are synthetic) shoes at the moment. God knows they wouldn’t last long in the rain, but they do cheer me up, and although these Barratts sandals are a very simple shape, the frill effect around the heel helps dress them up a little, too.

As with most retailers at the moment, Barratts currently have their summer sale on, which means you can get these for just £25. They’re also available in black.
