Part of me thinks these shoes are really only suitable for bridesmaids. Another part of me, however, thinks, “Why should bridemaids get all the fun? And all the pretty shoes? You could easily throw these on with a little black dress, say, and no one need even mention the word “bridal”.” With that sorted out, then, I’ll just add that these are just as pretty in all of the other colours they’re available in, which include black, white, dark grey, and this “platinum” colour:
Gorgeous. And, of course, if you DID want to wear them to a wedding, well, you could do that too.
I couldn’t resist showing you another pair of shoes from one of my favourite brands, today: Badgley Mischka. These are called ‘Sail’, and they’re the proof that “simple” doesn’t have to mean “boring”, and that yes, there ARE ways to make the good old bow-on-the-toe look just a little bit different! This bow is further forward than most, and is sitting at a slight angle, which helps to make them a little more interesting.
After years of buying bright colours, I’m currently finding myself obsessed with black shoes right now, so I love these, but they’re also rather nice in the taupe shade which is also available. Wouldn’t a bright red or blue be stunning, though?
I love Badgley Mischka. I know I say that pretty much every time I write about them, but it’s true. And these shoes are a great example of why I love them so much. On paper, they’re just a standard bow-fronted pump, and it’s not like we’ve never seen that done eleventy-one million times before, is it?
In reality, however, these are just so much better than the words “bow front pumps” suggest. The contrasting colour of the bow and toe, which makes it look like a giant ribbon has been tied around the toe, is a really nice touch, and the soft grey suede makes me want to use the word lush to describe it. So I will. These are lush. And lovely. And also available in black. And $215. Click here to buy a pair.
I was really excited to see that one of my favourite shoe brands, Badgley Mishka, is now available on Shopbop.com: I’ve been stalking the brand for a long time now, and was sorely tempted by a pair of black court shoes I tried on in L.A, and which are doomed to be one of those Shoe Regrets, I fear. But I digress…
These ‘Humbie’ pumps are actually a slightly simpler style than we’re used to seeing from this brand, which is best known for its party-appropriate and evening shoes (this is why I don’t currently own a pair, but I guess I could always apply my philosophy of wearing fancy shoes with a pair of jeans: nothing to stop me, after all!). These would definitely fit into either of those categories, with their glittery uppers, which are available in either silver or gold.
I’d probably go for the gold version, which would work better with my skin tone (I’m fond of using gold almost as a “nude” when it comes to shoes), but they’re both very pretty, and the kind of shoe you’d keep around for years to come, and be able to bring out for any special occasion.
These are $200: click here to buy them from Shopbop.
The colour of these shoes is called “sea”. The style is called “gorgeous”. No, I’m kidding, it isn’t: that’s just what I think of them. I’ve made no secret of my love of Badgley Mischka’s beautiful evening shoes, and these are no exception. The colour is lovely, but so is the shape – love that slightly curved heel! – and the little brooch on the toe is the perfect finishing touch:
Did I mention they’re also available in yellow? And black and silver and white?
These shoes are basically begging to be described as “keepers”, aren’t they?
Well, I’ve never been one to shy away from stating the obvious, so I’ll be the one to say it: these shoes really are keepers! Luckily for me, I didn’t even have to lie in order to make the commentary fit the name of the shoe (not that I would, you understand), because they really are gorgeous, aren’t they? And while they’re sticking unashamedly to the satin upper + peep toe + flower/bow (is that a flower or a bow? I can’t decide. I don’t think it matters.), they have managed to do it exceptionally well, and hey, if it ain’t broke…
These definitely ain’t broke, so if you’d like to buy yourself a pair, they’re $200, and you can click here to claim them.
These shoes are available in five different colours – green, taupe, black, white and navy – but I’m showing you them in green because… well, do I really need to explain why?
I actually hesitated to show you these at all, because they’re so simple there’s just not a whole lot to say about them. Sometimes the simple things in life can be the hardest things to find (anyone who’s ever spent hours searching for the perfect plain black sweater or pair of blue jeans will know exactly what I’m talking about here), though, and my eyes have snagged on these every time they’ve appeared on my screen, so here they are.
These are the kind of shoes you’d wear with the kind of statement dress you don’t want to be overpowered by your footwear, but they’re also pretty enough in an understated way to stand on their own merits, too.
They’re down to $163 at Zappos: click here to buy them.
I’ve looked at these boots (sorry, “booties”) numerous times now, and I’ve always held off on writing about them here, because well, they’re peep toe boots, and I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how I feel about that.
I think these ones could just succeed in winning me over, though: I keep picturing them worn with some beat-up denim and a tailored jacket, for a nice contrast between dressy and casual, but they’d be equally effective with something a little more formal. I also think this is one of the few examples of a peep toe boot that would actually be wearable for me, because the lightweight uppers wouldn’t be too warm to wear, thus negating the “if it’s warm enough for a peep toe, it’s too warm for a boot” argument.
What do you think? Are you ready to accept peep toe boots into your life – or closet? If you are, these ones are $200 from Nordstrom: click here to buy them.
