These boots were designed by Lady Gaga’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti, and, well, it shows, doesn’t it? That dramatic silhouette, finished off with the curved stiletto heel, is very Gaga-esque, and also rather implausible looking when considered as actual footwear: the heel looks almost as if it’s ready to collapse at any second!
It isn’t, of course, and these are presumably more than capable of bearing your weight for as long as you care to walk in them. Not that that’s likely to be a very long time, mind you: the heel is 7″, and while the platform comes in at 2.3″, you’ll still feel like you’re walking on a 5″ heel, making these strictly “car-to-bar” boots!
What do you think of them, though? I actually really like them, even if only to look at!
They’re $1,690: click here to follow in Gaga’s curved-heel footsteps…
There were some split opinions on Topshop’s ‘Activate’ ankle boots when I showed you them earlier this week, so when I came across this photo of them in action, I had to show it to you!
This is UK TV presenter Caroline Flack, who’ll be presenting this year’s X-Factor, at the official launch of the show this week. Caroline wore the Topshop boots with a little black dress, which is probably how I’d choose to wear something like this too (albeit I wouldn’t go for this particular dress), although when I saw them, one of my first thoughts was that they’d look good with jeans.
What do you think? Has Caroline managed to change your opinion of these at all?
These are available in both red and black, and come with a 5.25″ heel and 1.5″ platform. Setting aside the colour for a moment, I’m rather liking the shape of these, with their thick heel and platform, and actually, the fact that I DO like them so much is a little surprising to me, because the chunkiness reminds me of Jeffrey Campbell’s ‘Lita’, and all of the otheer chunk platforms it spawned, and which I just can’t get on board with.
You can’t really set the colour of these aside for too long, though, and any discussion of these boots is inevitably going to come back to that bright red suede. There’s a part of me thinking, “Wow!” here, and a part of me thinking “Father Christmas”. I’m trying to stifle that second part, but it WILL keep popping back up again.
What do you think? These are $224 and you can click here to buy them from Shopbop.
Diane is wearing the Crisscross Glitter Ankle boots, in black on silver. I was only able to find the reverse of that combination at Saks Fifth Avenue, but these are pre-order, so I’m sure the silver pair will be available soon.
For me, these fall very much into the category of Boots Pretending to Be Shoes, as the effect is of a silver (or black) sandal worn with black (or silver) hosiery. I think Diane Kruger is one of those women who can wear absolutely anything and still look fantastic in it, though, so I like them on her much more than I liked them in the product shots.
If you hated the Daffodils, meanwhile… well, you may just want to skip this post. Oh no, wait: it’s too late, isn’t it? Instead, you can take comfort in the fact that these are $1,295, you probably won’t see too many people wearing them, outside of magazines and celebrity fashion blogs.
What do you think of them, though? I’ve found myself warming to the Daffodil style after trying them on earlier this week, so I actually quite like them. And you?
If I absolutely HAVE to wear boots this winter, I would like them to be these hot pink suede ankle boots by Alexander McQueen, please. They’d make a long, dark winter feel just a little bit brighter, no?
These have a 5.5″ heel with a 1″ platform, and are guaranteed to have people staring at your feet everywhere you go in them: well, shoes like these just can’t be ignored, can they?
You know what I’m going to say next, though, don’t you? Yup, boots like these don’t come cheap, especially not when they have ‘Alexander McQueen’ stamped on the sole, and these will set you back £630. But you can still click here if you want to either buy them, or just drool over them a little more…
I managed to save another pair of shoes for my Shoe Challenge today, so here’s a quick preview of them, courtesy of Shoeperman, before I put the photos up tomorrow. Enjoy!
I always think shearling-topped boots would make me look too much like Mrs Christmas, or – worse – a Christmas elf, to make them worth buying, but it’s so cold outside I could be convinced to overlook that. In fact, if these Ashanti boots from Topshop were to magically appear on my shoe shelves, I might even give a little “ho ho ho” of glee.
Of course, these have a shearling cuff, as opposed to a shearling lining, so they’ll be a little less warm than they actually look. Still, something about them really appeals to me right now, although it could just be the fact that the lower half of the boot is identical (in shape, if not in colour), to my Barley2 boots, which naturally makes me predisposed to like them.
If you like them too, they’re £95, they’re also available in black, and you can click here to buy yourself a pair.
