The Far Fetch sale has proven to be a happy hunting ground for shoes this week, but before I turn my attention to some other retailer, I just had to show you these heart print shoes by Dolce & Gabbana.
These are down to £219, and while the brown version is simply a nice twist on the classic peep toe, the white shoes are a little more adventurous, offering a furry, animal-print version of the heart print: rawr! I’m not sure I’d actually buy these (although I certainly wouldn’t kick the brown ones off the shoe shelves if they happened to land there as if by magic) but hey, they’re shoes with hearts on them: I felt almost obliged to show you them.
Do they warm the cockles of your own furry, animal print heart? (What do you mean, you don’t have an animal-print heart?) step right this way to buy them…
Remember last year, when everyone went crazy for Topshop’s leopard print ‘Ashish’ wedges? I totally failed to see the appeal at the time, but then, a couple of weekends ago when I was buying my new boots in Zara, I saw a fellow shopper wearing a pair of them, and all of a sudden I decided I absolutely loved them.
That doesn’t mean I want to buy these River Island wedge ankle boots, though, because.. meh. Totally not my thing, as much I love me some animal print shoes. If you do want to buy them, however, click here: they’re £84.99 at River Island.
I know I’ve already shown you the red version of Kurt Geiger’s Echinacea pumps, but you’ll have to forgive me for showing you them again, because as soon as I saw these three new colourways, well, I just couldn’t help myself.
I wasn’t sure about the detachable bow feature of the red version of these, and I’m STILL not sure about it on the leopard print version in the centre of the image above: in fact, I think it looks a little cheap. I absolutely love the nude and black versions, however, and have instantly added the nude ones to my wish list: they’re such a great colour and shape, and would look good with or without the lace bow.
What do you think of these? If you love them, just click here to buy yourself a pair – they’re £150.
It’s another meeting of two of my very favourite shoe-things: red suede and leopard print. They’re two very bold coluors/prints, and when you put them together, you end up with a shoe that needs no other accessorising to make it look amazing. That’s why I wish Sergio Rossi had just stopped at the red + leopard, rather than going on to add the metal heel. The shoe was special enough without it, and I actually think it would be even more special if the leopard print extended all the way down the heel, rather than occupying a relatively small space at its base. That said, I do have a bias against metal heels, which I’ve spoken about before, so that’s purely a personal taste thing, and if I was going to go for a metal heel, I could probably be persuaded by these ones.
Clunk shape? Chunky heel? Quirky animal print? It’s all gone a little bit Miu Miu around here, hasn’t it?
Of course, Kurt Geiger’s ‘Indie’ platform sandals wouldn’t be mistaken for Miu Miu, but they do buy into the same kind of aesthetic the designer brand has been famous for this season, albeit KG are using rabbits rather than cats or swallows as their animal print of choice.
A year or so ago, I’d probably have been rolling my eyes at these and saying, “Rabbits? Really?” but there’s a phenomenon in fashion which I think of as “adjustment of the eye”, whereby repeated exposure to a particular trend makes it slowly start to seem more appealing to you, even although you may have hated it at first sight. (I think skinny jeans are a great example of this for me: when they first started to become popular I actually laughed at the thought of wearing them – now they’re the only kind of jeans I EVER wear) I think that’s started to happen for me with this style of shoe, and with animal prints in general, so rather than looking at these and just seeing an oddly clumpy shoe, I’m actually finding myself thinking of ways to wear them, instead.
What about you? If you like these too, then simply click here to buy them for £130.
I’m a huge fan of River Island’s design forum, which allows young fashion students to create collections which are then sold in River Island stores and on their website. As well as being an amazing opportunity for fresh new design talent out there, the items it produces also tend to be that little bit more interesting than the typical high street fashion fare.
These bow front sandals may look a little daunting at first glance, especially if you’re not a fan of animal print, but I absolutely love them, and have a feeling they’re the kind of shoes that would look amazing in real life, and have all eyes on your feet! My preference would be for the pale blue colour, which go a little easier on the animal print, but the hot pink would be a little more of an attention-grabber, if that’s what you’re after.
These arrived on the Topshop website yesterday morning. By the time I came to write this post, at 2pm, they were already sold out in the leopard print, with just a few sizes remaining in the zebra (and by the time you read this, those may well be gone too…).
It looks like this winter is going to be… interesting.
If you really want these, you should still be able to pick them up in larger branches. Oh, and they’re also available in black, but where’s the fun in that?
Sorry, I have no idea what came over me there. Zebra’s don’t even make that noise, do they? Moving along…
There’s a whole lot of animal print around for the coming winter season, and, somewhat unusually, it seems to be zebra rather leopard that’s taking centre stage. (There’s still a lot of leopard about too, though. Wouldn’t want leopards to feel left out or anything). These schuh’s (do you see what I did there?) definitely aren’t for those who like to fly under the radar, because they’re practically screaming “LOOK AT ME!” It worked, too. Well, it made me look, anyway.
