How do you take your shoes, readers? One heel or two?

And yes, I know the image above shows three: don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten how to count! The shoe actually only comes with two heels, though – the middle one is the one you walk on, and the other is detachable, so you can wear it in either of the two positions shown.

Now, personally I wouldn’t like these shoes even if they DIDN’T have an extra heel, but what do you think of this idea? Interesting, or just plain strange? If you went for the first option, they’re £570 at Acne.

Acne black ‘Agate’ pom-pom sandals

Ooh! I used to make pom-poms just like that when I was a kid! You know, with the two circles of cardboard, and the wool? OK, so maybe mine didn’t turn out exactly like the ones on these black sandals. Mine were probably a little more straggly and sad looking. But still: if only I’d thought to attach them to a pair of shoes, I could’ve sold them for £485 per pair and been rich by now – rich, I tells ya!

Ah, well. We can’t all be shoe designers! The pom-poms on these sandals are detachable, and I think that’s a very good thing, because I can’t imagine a single situation in my life in which I’d be likely to want or need to wear shoes that look like this. Once you force your eyes away from the “clown” element, however, there’s actually a really nice shoe hidden underneath: it’s just a shame the embellishments are so very distracting!

acne-wedge-ankle-bootsFull disclosure: I’ve never been much of a fan of Acne, either the skin condition or the brand. While I’d imagine I’m not alone in my lack of love for the former, however, I know the latter has some devoted followers, and presumably that’s who these boots are aimed at. For me, well, I’m loving wedge boots at the moment, and would love to find the perfect pair for winter, but these won’t be on my wish list: they’re way too clumpy, and I have a feeling they’d make my feet look absolutely enormous.

Not for me, then, but if they do it for you, they’re £355 at Browns.
