Stripper shoes, by Fendi

Um, Fendi? I think we need to have a word. You see, maybe it’s just me, but every time I see shoes with a gigantic, perspex platform, I think “stripper shoes”. Which is a real shame in the case of these, because the top half of the shoe is gorgeous, and with a smaller, non-perspex sole, I’d probably have loved them. As it is, though, at £753, they’re just far too expensive to be looking so cheap. No to perspex soles, I say! Now, who’s with me?

  • Perspex platforms belong on stripper shoes, where they look fabulous (I admit to having a soft spot for Pleaser’s shoes and boots).
This, however, looks rather unpleasant, and I can’t imagine what was going through the designer’s mind when he decided to put a clear, kitchy-glam platform on an otherwise very conservative and elegant shoe.
So I would say I’m with you.

  • I’m reading this on my netbook which has quite a small screen, so as I was scrolling down I was thinking “what does she mean stripper shoes they’re actually rather nice … but what’s … oh dear”. The top half is actually not bad, and it just looks so very out of place on those perspex soles – it almost looks like there was a mix up on the assembly line!
