six pairs of tan knee boots

Tan knee boots are a shoe-closet staple, as far as I’m concerned. They’re the boots that go with everything (Well, OK, almost everything: I don’t think there’s a shoe in the world that goes with absolutely everything, but if you know of one, feel free to correct me!), and they’re the boots I’d live in from October – April… if, that is, I could find the perfect pair.

As with so many things in life – or so many things in shopping, anyway – sometimes the things that SHOULD be the easiest to come across are actually the hardest thing to find. Tan knee boots, unfortunately, happen to be one of those things. They’re such a classic, and worn by so many people, that you’d think the shops would be full of the things every autumn. And, to be fair, they are… it’s just that none of them are totally perfect.

The reason the simplest things are so hard to find, is because for something simple to really work, it has to be perfect in every way. Of course, when it comes to shoes – or any kind of fashion item – what counts as “perfect” will differ from person to person. My perfect tan knee boots, for instance, might be totally different to YOUR perfect tan knee boots, because we all have different tastes, lifestyles, and preferences. Just for the record, though, my perfect tan knee boots would have a slim leg, a completely plain boot shaft, and a chunky – but not too chunky – heel. Oh, and I’d also need a pair with a stiletto heel, too, so better make that two pairs of tan knee boots for me, just to be on the safe side. That’s not remotely excessive, is it?

What do your perfect tan knee boots look like?

The Shoeper Six is a feature rounding up six pairs of shoes, or items of clothing in a particular style. If there’s anything you’d like to see here, please leave me a comment!

  • Hey Amber, was wondering if you could do a post on boots that you can wear to walk in the snow without slipping/being cold but still look good. Thanks 🙂

  • I’d been waiting for this post, thanks! I too have been looking for the perfect tan boots for some time, only I’d want to wear them mostly with bare feet, as spring/ autumn boots. The first ones from your selection are pretty close to what I want: genuine leather, very long (without being over-the-knee), pointed/ almond toe. The last pair, however, has the perfect colour: almost nude (for me).
