Anyone else out there harbouring dreams of being Cinderella? Well, you might just need a fairy Godmother to afford them, unfortunately, but Dolce & Gabbana have got the footwear covered, at least:
I’m always in two minds about shoes like these. When I first see them, I always think, “WOW! LOVE THEM!” But then, on reflection, I start to think about how my bare feet would look inside them, and they become a little (or a lot) less attractive. I mean, from a distance you’d basically look like you were barefoot, wouldn’t you, and if that’s the look you’re going for, there are much cheaper ways to achieve it than these, as fun as it would be to pretend to be Cinders for an evening. (At this kind of price-point, however, I definitely wouldn’t be leaving one behind, Prince or not…)
Speaking of princes, these shoes look like they’ve been inspired by one:
Fairytales have been a big inspiration in many of the autumn/winter collections this year, and I couldn’t be happier about it: it certainly helps make the resulting shoes a little more fun and whimsical than they have been in previous years! These shoes have a very regal feel to them somehow, with their bright red heel and shiny gold buckle. I probably wouldn’t wear them with the ankle socks shown on Net-a-Porter, mind you, but how you wear them is, of course, up to you.
Gianvito Rossi’s current collection is apparently inspired by British and French military uniforms, rather than fairytales per se, but I think these green suede heels fit in nicely with the general theme, don’t you? I love the colour, the buttons: pretty much everything about them, basically. Well, everything other than the price, that is…
