* or as “up close” as I could get with my phone camera when the staff in the store were looking on with interest…
For anyone wondering whether the Prada ‘chandelier” shoes I wrote about last month are any better in person than they appeared on the catwalk, I present the evidence above.
This is a slightly different shoe to the one I showed you in April, and is thankfully missing the Velcro strap, but while I did think they looked a little more expensive in person, and a lot of work has obviously gone into making them, I still don’t think they look like $700 shoes. I bet they make a lot of noise when you walk in them, too…
They look cheap. Even up close.

You mean you didn’t try them on?
Love the site redesign by the way!

Good grief. They’re utterly horrific.
i think there nice to look at but i wudnt wear them
They’re still ugly!!! But please, do say you tried them on!
You’re right, they don’t look like they cost $700. Heck, they don’t look like they cost $70. They look very cheap, like something you’d find in a bargain bin at a particularly lousy thrift shop, and then wear for Halloween. Tacky tacky tacky.
Without the clear plastic upper and heel (maybe black or silver instead?), these might not be quite so bad. That being said, I still wouldn’t pay $700 for them.
And not only strange, they don’t look comfortable at all…
