Well, I guess I know what I’LL be asking Santa for this Christmas, then! Actually, I’d be happy for these shoes to serve as my present for the next … oooh, five years, shall we say?… if it made me any more likely to get them. They can count as my birthday gifts too: how does that sound?
Basically, if I was asked to describe my ideal shoe, these Dolce & Gabanna bow pumps would be more-or-less what I’d come up with. Let’s see how they measure up to the Shoeper Checklist:
- Pointed toe? CHECK
- High heel? CHECK
- Simple-but-elegant shape? CHECK
- Cute little bow detail? CHECK
- Polka dots? CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!
The more I look at them, the harder it is to understand why they’re not in my closet right now. Oh no, wait: it’s the price, isn’t it? Yup, that’ll be it. If these were Topshop/ZARA priced, say – or hell, even if they were Kurt Geiger priced – there would be absolutely no question: they’d be on their way to be right now. Sadly, however, they’re Dolce & Gabanna priced, so they’ll have to remain firmly in my dreams. For now.
These shoes are such a perfect match for my personal style I had absolutely no hesitation in putting together an equally “shoeper” outfit to wear with them. I’ve styled these for a party – well, it IS the season for it, after all – but I think they;d also work well in the spring/summer, when I’d wear them with capri pants, say, or a pencil skirt. Polka dots always have something of a retro feel to me, which is probably why I like them so much, but I don’t think they’d be difficult to style in a more contemporary fashion, either: in fact, they’re the kind of shoes you could easily wear with jeans and a t-shirt, and still look fabulous!
