I spotted these at ASOS yesterday, and made a mental note to show them to you. Shoe clips aren’t, of course, a new idea, but anything that breathes new life into old footwear is fine by me, and it’s amazing how much of a difference a little bit of embellishment can make!
These come in a variety of different styles, are £14.99 each, and although they’re shown clipped onto the heels of the shoes in these photos, I can see no reason why you shouldn’t stick them on the front or sides too, if you so desire!
So, I think we can probably agree that “Heel Condoms” possibly isn’t the greatest brand name around, hmm? In fact, I was scared to click on the link to these because I had no idea what was about to appear on my screen…
As it turns out, however, I needn’t have worried, because these are simply a new way to dress up your shoes. The “heel condom” is basically a covering which you slip onto the back of your shoe, to instantly create a different look:
You know all of those plain pairs of pumps and peep toes you have lying around (and by “you” I mean “that I have lying around”)? Well, here’s an easy way to give them a new lease of life. These are by a company called Dekkori, and they sell a range of ankle straps, foot straps, and even little fake “bootie” accessories that you can attach to your existing shoes, giving them anything from a bit of extra embellishment to a completely new look.
Not all of the add-ons will be to everyone’s taste, of course, but it does seem like a fun way to get a high-fashion look out of a pair of your existing shoes. The big drawback, however, seems to be the price: starting at about $45 for one of the smaller accessories, these go to well over $100 for some of the “boots”, making many of them as expensive as a new pair of shoes – or even more than one pair, depending on where you shop.
What do you think of this idea? If you’d like to take a look at the styles on offer, you’ll find the Dekkori websitehere.
I know, I know, I’m much too old to be playing with dolls, but just look at this doll! She’s the latest in the Christian Louboutin Barbie line, and I just know my (much) younger self would have been absolutely crazy about her: not only is she a redhead with a dress to die for (the style of the dress being based on a Christian Louboutin bow), just look at her shoes:
As with the Catburglar Barbie I showed you last year, I particularly love the fact that each pair of shoes comes with it’s own miniature box and dust-bag: so sweet, and I’m guessing this collection will make some little future Shoeperwoman very happy indeed, although her parents probably wont be quite so impressed by the £100 price tag.
For those who REALLY love shoes, our sister blog Keeping It Realtor has tracked down this fabulous shoe-shaped bathtub by Massimiliano Della Monaca. Isn’t that just awesome? It would be the perfect piece of furniture for the Shoeperhouse: if, of course, the Shoeperhouse wasn’t approximately the size of a shoe-box itself.
I know it’s probably wrong of me to admit it, but: I want this.
It’s Christian Louboutin’s limited edition Cat Burglar Barbie, and it comes complete with miniature versions of the designer’s shoes. Look, they even have the boxes and dust bags! I love it, but then again, I AM secretly on 12 years old.
It doesn’t matter how beautiful your shoes are : if they’re not comfortable and you can’t walk in them, you’re going to look ridiculous – and I’m sure we’ve all seen the truth of that statement in action at some point or another. I’ve lost count of the number of well-shod women I’ve seen hobbling along looking utterly miserable in uncomfortable shoes.
Scholl’s Party Feet gel cushions have been around for a while now, and are excellent when it comes to relieving that horrible stinging sensation you get in the ball of your foot when you’ve been wearing high heels for two long. They’re slim, as the name suggests, and although they have a hint of glitter through them, to help them live up to the “party” part of the name, they’re unobtrusive, too.
As well as helping keep the soles of your feet comfortable, these can also make shoes that are slightly too big fit better. I’ve been wearing them inside my Christian Louboutin Mary Janes which, as some of you will recall, are a half-size bigger than I’d like them to be, and the gel soles are just the right size to push the foot back enough to make the shoes fit. They’re £4.88 and available from Scholl.
Juicy Couture isn’t a brand I generally pay much attention to, but I did rather like the look of this shoe charm when I stumbled upon it at Louisa Via Roma this morning.
Would I pay £51? Er, no. I’d buy actual shoes, obviously. If you’d buy it, though, you can do so here.
